Posted July 26, 201113 yr Due for release on the 1st August 2011, Viva Brother are according to NME "The return of the great British guitar band" I've seen Viva Brother twice now and planning on seeing the again in september. Brother have been one of my finds of the year with their upbeat songs which is what we need with the rest of the country seeming to be in a constant depression here is a link to their official site. http:// bit.ly/TVBdarren
July 26, 201113 yr If this is the next big thing in British guitar music, then the guitar truly deserves to be shot dead and put off its misery once and for all.
July 26, 201113 yr ah I disagree. this band are great, so good live too. matter of opinion I guess! http: //bit.ly/TVBmattea - pre order link - get them in the charts
July 27, 201113 yr Hmmm two brand new members supporting an over hyped mediocre band. Not terrible just mediocre. Do I smell a spammer? Both of them have posted links. God at least The Vaccines had a couple of good tunes.

God at least The Vaccines had a couple of good tunes. they have to be overhyped though as they are paying people to hype them because they were stupid enough to accept an insanely high advance and all buy themselves flats and cars only for them to then realise they aren't going to sell enough to cover that advance and now they are f***ed. thats why you shouldnt let major record labels let you borrow an insane amount of money so you can create a manufactured indie band for them rather than play the music you wanted to play, only to end up being arseraped by the major once you haven't made the money back for them. basicaly, they are f***ed and should have kept making the music they wanted to make rather than sign to geffen and pretend to be people they aren't. i'm still amazed people don't completely see through the band for the fakes they are, even despite the fact i know them it seems pretty obvious.
July 27, 201113 yr Due for release on the 1st August 2011, Viva Brother are according to NME "The return of the great British guitar band" Then why they gave them such a low rating (5/10)? -_-
July 30, 201113 yr "However, all that bluster and boasting comes undone when listening to Famous First Words and you realise they actually don't have anything to say at all." Is Pitchfork still uncool? I don't care because that's quite LOL. I've not listened to the album (of course) but I imagine that's pretty much spot on. Even the new name is horrid. Talk about missing the boat by 10+++ years
July 30, 201113 yr Then why they gave them such a low rating (5/10)? -_- It's the NME cycle. Find indie band. Hype indie band to death. When obvious that public don't like indie band, slate indie band. Then slate indie band some more. Make indie band butt of EVERY SINGLE JOKE it copy of NME. Then forget indie band ever existed.
July 30, 201113 yr I just hate their arrogance/image. The whole thing has been a massive fail, including the name change. I can't wait for this album to miss the Top 40.
July 31, 201113 yr It's the NME cycle. Find indie band. Hype indie band to death. When obvious that public don't like indie band, slate indie band. Then slate indie band some more. Make indie band butt of EVERY SINGLE JOKE it copy of NME. Then forget indie band ever existed. The backlash was very quick in this case... :D According to Pitchfork Media: Look, It's easy to see why Viva Brother were given a shot at the big time-- the dual allure of a Britpop revival and four arrogant young men with guitars must have been impossible for record execs to resist. But in execution the whole thing comes off as nothing more than a thinly disguised, crass attempt to smoke latent Oasis fans out of hiding. Unfortunately for them, Beady Eye already beat them to the punch. Edited July 31, 201113 yr by alin
August 9, 201113 yr They were always going to be poor live, but when they were followed by Danananananaykroyd and Sonic Boom Six? Well :')
August 9, 201113 yr They were always going to be poor live, but when they were followed by Danananananaykroyd and Sonic Boom Six? Well :') i take it they were incredibly terrible then? tbh having them after a band as mental as sb6 is just bad scheduling.
August 9, 201113 yr i take it they were incredibly terrible then? tbh having them after a band as mental as sb6 is just bad scheduling. We left after 10 minutes, but yes. All your favourite bands played close together Chris! Part of Sunday's lineup was as follows: Pete & The Pirates Sonic Boom Six Dananananaykroyd Viva Brother Art Brut Maximo Park Pete & The Pirates weren't that good Chris :( SB6 were amazing though! And Dananana were a fair bit more mental than them too, even considering I hold a bias to them. I can't remember much from Art Brut onwards but apparently the lead guy was bizarre and just rambled about art galleries in the middle of the songs?

August 11, 201113 yr I've heard some of the Viva Brother album. To say I was very impressed would be a blatant lie. It's not terrible but it's not that good either. On the question of the advance, far too many people don't fully understand what an "advance" means for a new band in the music industry. The major labels then exploit that naïveté.
