When i was in the main forum a few days ago i did notice some campaign to get rid of the thumbs up smiley .... didnt stop to read why tho ... suppose some people must have found it irritating :wacko:

Loved reading that comment from your hairdresser TT..i think that he lost a lot of ground airplay wise with his last releases for whatever reasons but he's now getting that back in spades, it's clear from Echoes that Will's had total control over his new sound.

I noticed about the thumbs up smile too..i suppose it's the over use that did it? next will be :yahoo: :dance: and :w00t:

We have had so much promo these past weeks we haven't had time to catch our breath! tonight though i can't help feeling a little flat as it's all really stopping again until the next single and tour kick in, funny isn't it?.

Is Pearl not a Will fan anymore i see her posting around the internet but its always about that boy from the xfactor even when she posts on D its about him not Will :unsure:

I am still a Will fan but am sorry to say that I do not like Will's new album. I know at least one other Devoted member who doesn't like it either. :( It is very disappointing for me as I was looking forward to it. I quite like Jealousy and Happy Now but the others don't do it for me at all.

 

"That boy from X-Factor" is Joe McElderry who I think is great. I love his new album as it is the type of singing I like. He is a lovely lad and hope he does well.

 

I hope that Will doesn't continue in the "dance/electro" vein as I really cannot take to it at all. I tried to like it but it wasn't my cup of tea at all. There is no use posting about something on D that I have no interest in. By the way I have just posted that Will's album has probably gone gold for 100,000 units shipped.

 

I sent my copy of the album back. :(

Will's probably went gold the first week it was released for shipped units.

 

Each to his own :D i like covers but i could not listen to a cd that was full of covers that had been done to death by most artists on the xfactor/ BGT and that were sang in exactly the same way..when a cover is sung i like something new to be brought to it or i cant see the point.

 

 

I hate the word "covers". Joe and his like are singing what used to be standards and his classical arias are lovely.

 

I would rather hear an album of standards than one of songs I do not like!

I always have preferred Will's own songs to any covers he has done, his own work shows progression and real artistry for his craft that many others in the music biz don't seem to have but even when he covers songs, they always seem to be chosen with affection and uniquely given in his own style and those can be quite amazing to behold. Joe McElderry and his new label rush released a set of overused covers without any real thought or personal style involved IMO.

There's nothing worse than an over eager fan buzzing around the net, defending any slightly negative opinion posted about a chosen one. It does the artists no favours whatsoever, often turns others against them in fact. Poor little Joe has to suffer it this time, thank goodness it's not Will. :D

 

 

And like it or not Pearl. Joe's album is covers. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck. :lol:

 

Nonetheless, hubby likes Joe and we shall buy it next time we're in the vicinity of HMV. :D

I have not moved on from being a Will Young fan but won't bother to come on here anymore.

 

OK so you say the word covers. I don't really care - I would much prefer Will had done an album of his classic songs such as Berkley Square, All the Things You Are, Beat Out That Rhythm etc etc.

But those songs are not what Will is about Pearl. They are one-offs and not something he wants to be typically known for. If he was he would just be another Michael Buble.

 

As he said - Echoes was an album that was about making him happy and to please himself and not other people (imo he was talking about industry bods here not necessarily fans) as he said he had some 'good' fights. The fact that other people do happen to like it is probably a huge relief. He said as much in an interview - that he was pleased that people felt the same way about it as he did when he was making it.

 

I think you may well be sending more of Will's albums back then Pearl because you would be waiting an awfully long time for him to record songs such as those you have mentioned :lol:

I was just thinking back to when Will first came on the scene, fantastic vocals very cute (i dont think hes cute now :teresa: ) and such a great personality, he had all that terrible rubbish to deal with simon tried to pull him down by releasing Gareth and we fought his corner big time, Think Gill is feeling this as so many artists cop the flack, its ok to like whom ever it is a personal choice :D maybe Gills posts are a bit unbalanced at the moment, but im sure that will rectify itself. Gill does still like Will and was very sad that the album wasnt to her liking, she also didnt like Joe's first album for the same reason. I think Joe has a good voice and can certainly sing live although he isnt my cup of tea but i do think if people give him some breathing space and time to grow he might get a chance to bring out something thats more of his own sound (i do realise the first album didnt sell well) and i totally agree about the covers, Will wouldnt release an album with those older songs on, but i just think Gill was using it as a comparison, not that she wanted Will to release that :D
