U know how they say radio kills a song,well that's what @945Kfm are doing 2 @will_young31 -jealousy..I swear they play it every 5min..lol;)

Missed your musicweek article earlier Sunday. Says it all reaaly, the stranglehold, particularly Capital have on the singles chart. Will did so well releasing Jealousy getting a lot of the other commercials on board. Hope he can do so again with future releases.
Very Interesting to see where Jealousy has charted around the Europe so far :dance: interesting too about IJWAL and CO..definite promotion abroad coming IMO! :cheer:

Am I reading it right Sunday that Jealousy has actually had a lot more plays than some singles but audience figures suffer because Will is ignored by Capital and radio 1.

Yes capital and R1 have large audiences if he had their support he would have been a hell of alot higher in that chart.

He may not have had the support of the two biggies but still managed to get blanket coverage across the country, and having R1 on board certainly doesn't help to sell records - Will has proved that many times. He may not have had a huge audience by comparison but the locals all picked him up and played him hugely. And Echoes is still selling well.

Having a single played on R1 and capital is not a guarantee of hit single ( nothing can do that ) but there can be no denying the massive impact they have on sales.

 

Take JJ for example her single is not out for 2 months but capital started playing it a couple of weeks ago and it is already top 20 on itunes....just that one network had that effect . Big hits have been made on R1 with virtually no other airplay. Capital radio and R1 have a massive audience of downloaders far more than local radio. Without them its hard to get a hit ....but not impossible ( thats why Jealousy is a massive achievement)

He's never going to get played on Radio 1 so it's not worth worrying over what might have been. I have to say I'm a bit puzzled as to why Capital have suddenly stopped playing him though. They were full-square behind him with Changes. Something had to have happened behind the scenes for that to have gone pearshaped. They didn't even playlist him when Jealousy became a big hit. Very odd.

 

Because James Morrison was constantly being compared over on D I had a look at his position in the album chart. He's currently at #34 and he has the full backing of R1 and Capital.

 

If a song/album is good it will sell Sunday despite not having their support.

You can have the most fantastic single ever made but if people dont get to hear it, it wont sell.

 

jm as been ignored by capital ..only his duet with jj as got him played on there but even then he was only added to b list .

 

i dont think anyone is worried (i know i am not) we are just discussing airplay and its effects.
