Excited for this. I wanna hear some tunes sinilar to their debut album though. Whilst I like their sophmore effort, it tries a little too hard to epic sometimes imo.
No 'Rescue Me' - oh dear. I say that, but it's not like it was even a YMAS single - it was about 90% Chiddy.

To be honest I'm glad it was not on the album. I think it just served as a stand-alone single so people didn't forget about them, as it will have been 18 months since Hold Me Down was released. And as you say, all YM@S did on Rescue Me was sing the hook!

Loverboy:

I quite like it! Its not very instant but its likeable.

Has that same generic sound of the previous album, which imo took itself to serious and lacked any of the fun of the first album!

Maybe i'm just biased but Josh's constant bum licking of Radio 1 and Paramore put me off the band quite a bit even though they were one of my favourites to start with, i just think that from the demo's and first album it was clear they have something special but after the last album and that song with chiddy bang which was just :manson:, it seems they are more interested in taking the easy route!

Edit: I must look like such a negative bast*rd in this forum! Maybe I just hear older music through rose tinted speakers.. :(

"Loverboy" is pretty decent, sort of like a lesser version of "Underdog" only with a swinging beat. I can't help feel that the momentum is with Kids In Glass Houses now though, but at least YMA6 are doing better than All Time Low

It does sound exactly like Underdog.

I've always prefered Kids In Glass Houses, but You Me At Six will always be the more successful of the two in chart terms. Looking forward to the album, but I'd be very very surprised if their latest album matches what KIGH have done with In Gold Blood...

Albums quite good. 'Jaws On The Floor' the next single apparently ...

Listened to the album 6/7 times now. I like it. Definitely their most mature record yet.

Although I find it a bit odd, there's lots of ballady rock songs, which are very nice. But then there's these mental guitar riffs complete with screaming. Sounds a bit out of place!

Second single is "Bite My Tongue", released this week.

The Oli Sykes (he of Bring Me The Horizon if you didn't know) feature seems a little pointless, I'm not a fan at all but he could have been utilised far more effectively. I'm really enjoying the song though.

I have their other CDs but I was wondering if I wanted a 'mature' pop punk album

Okay seriously loving "Bite My Tongue" now, even though Oli Sykes should really give backing vocals to the last chorus as well as his verse as it'd just take the song to another level entirely.

After listening to all three of their albums in succession I've realised why I'm suddenly so much more interested in them - Josh's vocals have really matured and there's something far more melodic and distinctive about his voice now that makes all the difference. I hadn't realised how much they hate "Rescue Me" (which I thought was amazing on first listen then got bored of after three), this is from an interview with Rock Sound:

In an interview with the music magazine Rock Sound in September 2011 Josh Franceschi said that "Rescue Me" was a low point for the band. "We were basically forced to release a song that we didn't want to", he said. According to Franceschi, the band wanted to end the promotional campaign for Hold Me Down with "Fireworks", a ballad which is the last track of the album, but the label wanted a big radio song. "We got drunk during some time off last year and wrote a song that was like "Airplanes" as a joke", the singer recalled. "We sent the track in and two weeks later we got a call from our label saying it was the best You Me At Six song we'd ever written... Soon enough, we get another call - they're shooting a video for the song". Franceschi said he felt like the band had sold out: "I honestly could not believe I was part of something like that... we've worked too hard getting to where we are to throw it all away because someone who sits in an office thinks he knows more about our fans and our band then we do."
Hmm well that makes sense. Rescue Me is their biggest hit to date, but whilst the chorus is very catchy, it did all seem a bit just, well a mess. It was released when they didn't really need to release anything. I love Fireworks, but lyrically, it's not brilliant. It's the same with a few tracks off the new album, I love them, but lyrics like "All I wanna do is write a song" are not exactly earth changing. I still stand by that their debut is their best. It's a little childish in places, but they've changed so much. Even their older stuff like Promise Promise compared to their first album is a huge change. I like them now still, but I don't think being on a major label like Virgin has helped them. Kids In Glass Houses look to have much more freedom on Roadrunner Records (although they are not as big a band as YM@6).

My favourite song by them!! Havn't really listened to YM@6 for a couple of years but If you run came on my shuffle yesterday and forgot about the great ending to it, i miss how they were!! :(
