Ok, I have the feeling that I am missing out on great albums to listen to at night. My current album of choice is Burial - Untrue. The atmosphere is staggering.

So, what do you recommend for night time aural pleasure?

We Fell to Earth - s/t

A bit darker version of XX

Lambchop - Is a Woman, and perhaps Damaged too.

Of singer-songwriter stuff, somehow Beth Orton's Comfort of Strangers works very well.

Pretty much anything by Bon Iver.
When I had a job that required coming home at midnight, Jamie Woon's album was always my go-to for twilight walking. Sally Shapiro's 'My Guilty Pleasure' also works, though I think the perfect place to listen to that would be on a field under the stars, because I'm a dreamer loser.

It may be a surprise but I have been known to listen to Orbital's In Sides late at night.

A new album I really like to listen to at night time is The Harrow & the Harvest by Gillian Welch. I also love to play Lucinda Williams' Essence at night.

I do think this is all very personal though, but I like depressing albums for late at night.

My own personal night time favourites are David Sylvian's Gone to Earth, especially the Instrumental half of the album and U.F.Orb.

I still don't get Bon Iver so I would recommend Low's latest album for a more recent release.

I was thinking about UFOrb today. I might download it now.

Love it - my favourite Orbital album

I was going to suggest the XX but it might be a little obvious. Maybe the Airborne Toxic Event as well?

Il Rumore del Fiore di Carta - Lesson 3 / How to Live Without Senses

They're alternative, but quite moody and atmospheric. Really nice to listen to at night, especially in the summer.

James Blake sounds incredible at 3am, gah :3

R&B tinged Electronica in general really, so Balam Acab, The xx, How To Dress Well, The Weeknd, Jamie Woon and the like.

Only the names have been changed ~ Kelly Jones

Kelly's gentle Welsh voice will easily send you to sleep :) (well, it works for me at least)

Agnes Obel - Philiaharmonics

Perfect for going to sleep. It is quite boring and forgettable (the DIVINE Riverside aside) but it certainly does the job to calm you at night.
