Just looked at today's airplay chart

Matt

Radio airplay

#15 34.41m 1,794plays

Commercial Radio

#49 10.05m 1,666plays

Ireland

not top 100

Tv

#41 177 plays

While I was there thought I'd look at how Jealousy is holding up.

Will

Radio Airplay

#23 30.22m 3,327plays

Commercial Radio

#13 27.50m 3,086 plays

Ireland

#9 238plays

TV

#42 176 plays

So Will's airplay is dropping (though still doing well) & isn't much different to Matt's.

Olly & JM are still both riding high in the airplay charts.

I make no apologies for making these comparisons. :P

Very interesting TT. Just saw MC is still on the Radio 1 C list for next week, yet Cher Lloyd's going on the B list. Looks like they've made their mind up.

The Joe thread is jaw dropping! :o Some of the stuff on Olly Murs makes him sound pretty seedy.

Just read this in the sales thread in chart forum

HA! Chris Moyles just played MLJ because he had to because it's the midweek no.1. Of course they wasted no time in slagging it off and hinting to everyone that they should download Rihanna in order to stop it being official no.1. Not playlisting it is one thing, but the pettiness astounds me.

Moyles must think he's the oracle on good music!

Thanks for the MC info Gill, interesting to see his airplay stats, i remember saying on Devoted that 'The winners single' was already high on Pre orders before anyone even knew who had won the X factor that year, so i wonder if his are really high or if it's just more hype?

Moyles is a self important prat. :P

The Michael Jackson tribute concert is this weekend apparently and i read that BEP had pulled out now so who does that leave besides Cowell's lot?

Always saw this as a money making affair. Talk about bleeding the dead dry. There's a list of artists on here Bev but not sure how accurate it is.

Ludicrous prices too but you can now get tickets for £20.

I see Jessie J has been announced as the first name for The Voice. Nothing against her but she's been around for all of 5minutes. First single released late last year.

She's done quite a lot of song writing for others for just a little while longer I think, but agree I think it's too soon. However I do infinitely prefer her to any combination of Cheryl/Dannii so I'm reasonably satisfied in that respect.

I still think Will might get this, he's absolutely ideal and if you look on the DS threads about The Voice, a lot of people who I don't recognise as 'Will fans' are suggesting him as perfect and would like to see him. :)

Btw I'm just watching something on 4Music called 2011's Biggest Singers - Will is at 13 beating Rihanna and Olly Murs at 14 and 15. :D The impact Jealousy has made is just HUGE! It's really popular amongst young people

Thanks for the info re Jessie J. I didn't realise she'd written for others. I agree she's a better choice than the mimers who could have been chosen. Guess we are struggling to come up with female British live performers. There's Adele but probably ruled out due to her busy schedule & voice problems and Leona who is too connected to the X Factor.

Would love to see Will given a slot but somehow I can't see it. Think it will go to someone like James Morrison or one of our perceived 'cool' rappers.

Great to read about 4Music. Agree Jealousy has done wonders for raising Will's profile, especially amongst younger people.

I don't think Will would do it even if it was offered. He seems to have his year planned and it's all about Echoes isn't it. :D

I now she wrote 'Party In The USA' for Miley Cyrus, but I'm not sure on other stuff, think she got signed ages ago and took ages to record her debut album. Adele would again seem ideal for this but don't think she'd have the time (and as you say her vocal problems are shocking and worrying to say the least!) In the US they tried to keep it as representing different genres you had the soul guy in Cee Lo Green, country artist Blake Shelton, the big diva Christina Aguilera and straight pop in Adam Levine so wonder if they will try keep the diverse range here. I could see them trying to get a rapper maybe even Dizzee Rascal who's had a bite at talent show judging already.

Lenny Kravitz is strongly rumoured to fill a 'rock' position, which is an interesting choice but still think there's room for a male popstar, if it came down to a straight choice between someone like James and Will, I still would hope they would go with Will, who's done a bit of mentoring (on X Factor) and judging (when he stood in for Dizzee) and whose personality just shines through. I honestly think he would be perfect at this because it's all about the mentoring, I have my fingers crossed anyway!

edit: You're probably right Marguerite, I would like to think he's been asked though, it's not just us that think he would be perfect.

Itv is joined up with sony i wonder if bbc will join up with universal...so The Voice might get artists as judges who are signed to that label.

I hope they ask him too because I think he would be great in the role. He works with young people within his charity and takes singing workshops. He has an honoury doctorate at Paul Mcartney's acadamey in Liverpool, he's a fantastic vocalist, a charming personality, in fact, he's tailor made for the job. :D

It's just that if it comes to a toss up between overseas promotion and The Voice, I think he'd go with the former, and I rather hope he would too.

Will would be perfect for The Voice but when does it start and how long does it run is the question, Palladium the 12th of December, then nothing as far as we know till the new year...so is it possible for him to do it and then do his overseas Promotion?

I watched the US series Bev and from memory it's pretty short, I think it was less than 12 weeks for the whole run (but they had 2 hour episodes for the auditions) from audition to final so imagine they'll use the same format, though I know after the hit it was in the States, they're extending it for the second series.

Blind Auditions - 2 weeks

Battle Rounds - 4 weeks

Live Show Quarter Finals 2 weeks

Live Show Semi Final 1 week

Final - 1 week

There was only 4 live shows even though they had 16 contestants because they whittled them down furiously fast! I'd imagine the UK version will take the same format at first. Spring next year I think is the proposed start

:)

DS article says it starts early 2012 so would probably clash with his annual January break. :P The American series ran had 12 episodes.

Sorry just saw your post PurpleNurples. That sounds a much better format than X Factor.

Thanks girls, interesting time frame,..surely 12 weeks IS possible for him then? i mean it's great Promo in itself for a start. :D

I really liked the format, in the blind auditions the coaches have to battle for the contestants to join their team, when the contestants sing, the judges press a button to show they want them then the contestant must choose who they want (if more than 1 coach battles for them!) Basically they pick 8 contestants each to take to the battle rounds.

Then they pit their own contestants against each other, (they should do that here, that Frankie abomination would be annihilated! ) in the ultimate sing off and the coaches must choose the winner of each battle so each coach then has 4 contestants going into the live shows.

The live shows did seem to be over rather quickly, over the 2 quarter finals all 4 off each team performed and the public picked their top choice from each category. Then the coach picked 1 to save and sent the others home so going into the semi's each coach had 2. The way the finalist for each was picked was very interesting, a combination of votes from the public (including itunes sales) and a points score from the coaches who had to split 100 points between the 2. Most did it fairly but I think Adam went 60/40 to ensure the one he wanted got through. Interesting move.

Anyway, I think the UK will LOVE the format for starters, all the ones that are invited to the blind auditions are handpicked for their TALENT, there was not one bad one/comedy one on the US one, just varying degrees of average to great to amazing but EVERYONE could sing, as much as people claim to love the X Factor auditions, I think the public will find this a refreshing change.

And I really would just love it if Will was involved! :D I can see him on that swivelling chair now, talking round the contestants to join HIS team despite whatever 'superstars' he's alongside.

I'm puzzled as to why they didn't announce all of the Voice's mentors at the same time. I would have thought they had a hit list of who they wanted and plenty of back up's if they didn't get their first choice. Perhaps they're holding out hoping for someone like Robbie or Adele to come on board.

I see Matt Cardle is at five even with his physicals..hardly surprising really as the song is dirge, what were they thinking? and he was pretty much slated on Twitter after he performed it.

The relish on other sites about his placings is something to behold. I think he's getting even worse then Joe and Leon did.

Bloody Nora, he ended up at #6 and even got fewer sales than Joe did with 39, 663 for RFYL compared with 43, 034 for Ambitions. The song was pretty bad.

I do wonder where a lot of the Matt fans have gone, I hope for his sake they are buying his album otherwise he's sunk.
