November 30, 201113 yr Jonmove, did you not get a PM from a mod? I don't want a warning as I've only been here 5 minutes. PM me if you want, I''m happy to indulge you but stop derailing threads. I won't be making any more comparisons between Olly and Joe as the mods don't like it, I suggest you do the same as for some reason you're the worst offender! Let's take Joe out from under Olly's shadow and just talk about him in this thread. Agreed? You were the one who came here and started talking about Olly in a Joe thread. This whole side discussion started because you brought it publicly. Stop having Olly live under Joe's shadow, and keep commenting about him in a Joe thread about his album. Let us move on from this, and stop continuing this discussion. And if you have something to say to me, please take it through PM instead of this thread. Edited November 30, 201113 yr by jonmove
November 30, 201113 yr Does anyone know Joe's sales figures for Classic Christmas so far? You were the one who came here and started talking about Olly in a Joe thread. Stop having Olly live under Joe's shadow, and keep commenting about him in a Joe thread about his album. Let us move on from this, and stop continuing this discussion. ENOUGH. You must want a warning or something, you can't control yourself! Edited November 30, 201113 yr by BuzzLightyear
November 30, 201113 yr I love how Olly loons like to pick on Joe. You really have nothing better to do. LOL! You understand that his versions are well received that don't even know Joe. No even a good effort. :D I bought Joe's Wide Awake album I'm not picking on him I just gave an opinion.
November 30, 201113 yr ENOUGH. You must want a warning or something, you can't control yourself! I am not the one continuing this (or start this), if you didn't get my message looking at your quote. If you have something to say to me, please take it through PM. And not this thread. Edited November 30, 201113 yr by jonmove
November 30, 201113 yr Oh. My. God. Does anybody have any idea why Joe has put weight on? Has he stopped running? I thought he did a half marathon not so long ago?
November 30, 201113 yr Jon, have you ever considered using your head and bashing it against your keyboard repeatedly? :)

You really got problems. Just move on man. November 30, 201113 yr First someone said Olly is talentless and then someone accused me of being an Olly loon! Unforgivable..
November 30, 201113 yr I don't know who will last longer but Olly's star is gonna shine brighter while he's successful and Joe will have to last a hell of alot longer to match his sales. Olly's first album will end up selling more than all three of Joe's put together and his second will probably sell more than the first. Joe is only young, he could become some kind of Michael Ball character and do musicals etc, he might become a national treasure type, I could see that. He's getting more promotion at his current label, I saw an ad for his album on primetime ITV so the pressure is really on him to make the label some money back on their investment. In any case it's nice that he's getting backed eh. It depends on what Joe does really, he should have tried doing Will Young stuff, I could see him singing Jealousy and songs like that. Songs that pander to the radio 2 audience that Joe seems to appeal to, it's a lucrative market. Does he have the personality/right tone in his voice for pop songs though, I dunno. I think it'd be worth another crack at that but I don't know if his label are any good at that kind of record. Whoever is looking after Will Young, that's who Joe needs onside. I think today's midweeks prove you right on every point: Joe McElderry's new album, after all the hype of a nationwide tour, a primetime reality TV show (PSTOS), the national coverage of the Festival of Remembrance and tons of TV ads, is at No 13 in the charts! Put this in perspective: his 1st album (the one that flopped totally) debuted at No 3. His 2nd album (supposedly a great success) debuted at No 2 and was at No 2 in its first midweeks. For Joe to be only at No 13 surprised even me: I thought at first Universal were playing the market and hadn't shipped enough CD's out but they're boasting that they have sold 100,000 to retailers (so they can call Classic Christmas a 'gold' album) so it appears that people just aren't interested. This mirrors what I see on Twitter: every time a Joe TV ad airs, most responses are VERY negative, indeed often unprintable. I assume Universal are counting on a massive buying spree this weekend: it's unprecedented for Joe to be this low in the charts at this stage and if he doesn't pull something spectacular out this week I can't see much future as he will have flopped at pop AND classical. BTW: fans are saying the fact Joe has sold 200,000 of his 2nd album Classic after 14 weeks shows he's now a great success. Why? Shayne Ward sold that many copies of his 1st CD in its FIRST WEEK yet he's seen as a flop! Time for reality to hit Joe and his deluded fans I think, and not before time. :D :D :D Edited December 5, 201113 yr by joecomments
November 30, 201113 yr I'm closing this thread for a while. You've been warned and haven't stopped with the pointless arguments.
December 2, 201113 yr Well, this has turned bad. I thought Joe's fans were smarter. You just don't bring up Olly Murs unless you're on some Joe's fansite forums. I will not even try explaining it, that's just how you should do if you want to spare nerves. (As for Olly, respect for his success, I have nothing else to say.) Anyway, I am very happy Joe managed to break 200k. This week he'll have 2 albums in top100 and I bet Classic is gonna move quite a few positions up. I think this album is really good, now when the hype has settled. A hype, for me, as Joe fan, who was just happy to see him having an opportunity to do what he loves. That period last year when he got dropped was so depressing and I am glad to see he managed to fight and still hang on. What really gives me great pleasure is to see him mention in a couple of interviews that he's looking forward to some songwriting after holidays. That's the right state of mind. We got through the storm, now let's see some original material. I hope he'll manage to get some people that will be able to help him find his sound.

Shayne Ward sold that many copies of his 1st CD in its FIRST WEEK yet he's seen as a flop! Time for reality to hit Joe and his deluded fans I think, and not before time. :D :D :D The Classic album is selling well and already two times Gold and continue to sell. This is impressive. Many general artists out there can't even get those numbers. I mean look at Pixie Lott with a huge single, but huge flop in album. No other X Factor act has ever sold more than the 1st before, and to get away from Syco and sign with a larger label with Universal as well. As for Christmas Classic, it looks good so far. It is selling as much as Classic so far, and it already achieved Gold (100K sales) in 1 day, compared to Classic in (10 days). But you can't really compare these two given one is a Holiday album, and different attractions. I would be worried about Kelly's and Tulisa's main album since they had ridiculous amount of marketing every week. The nationwide tour was before his Christmas album, and given how well it received, it looks amazing for him. Actually, the tour is so successful that the label is already making plans for another one in 2012. Great job Joe! :) Here are some reviews: Birmingham: http://the-kaje.com/2011/11/10/live-review...ngham-09-11-11/ Nottingham: http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/Review-J...tail/story.html Aberdeen: http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.as..._medium=twitter Newcastle: http://www.shieldsgazette.com/lifestyle/en..._hall_1_3983952 Brighton: http://www.theargus.co.uk/theguide/critic/...rce=twitterfeed Middesbrough: http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside...84229-29836740/ London: http://entertainment-focus.com/music/artic...val-hall-london There hasn't been "tons of ads". On the contrary, it has only been a few, and more now as he starts the promo for this album. The Festival of Remembrance was a great success and what an honor for the young man. That is really impressive, and that is 3 times now in front of the royal family and Queen. They really like him, and he is only 20 years old. :o :) But the Festival of Remembrance is only 1 time. X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing are every single week with around ~10 million views. Major difference in the amount of marketing. PSTOS was in June, and for Joe to sell his Classic album to be Top 5 for 5 weeks in a row is impressive, given how Syco badly treated him and PSTOS were 3 months ago. It seems like it is not selling off the back of the show, since it would have dropped like a stone in the 2nd week. But what a success for him, and looking bright. :) *************************** It doesn't mirror what you see on Twitter. There are haters for EVERY artists and every celebrity. Joe's is actually very positive, compared to like Cheryl's? Here are some twitter responses (did not disclose names): @joemcelderry91 looked great today as per normal Aww love @joemcelderry91 version of "The Little Drummber boy" @joemcelderry91 cant believe you recognised me haha xx @joemcelderry91 DO A SIGNING IN MANCHESTER :( @joemcelderry91 you're so lovely, thankyou! I was shaking haha @richardsalkeld perfect to put Christmas tree up with @Pippa_Walker + @joemcelderry91 's Classic Christmas Edited December 2, 201113 yr by jonmove
December 3, 201113 yr No other X factor act has ever sold more than their first album, that's a fact. But not a very impressive one when you consider how many he sold of his first album and how well most other X factor acts first albums sell. It shows Joe's heading in the right direction and has largely recovered from the flop though. Joe not hitting the top 10 doesn't matter, I wouldn't expect him to with the sales needed to get in the top 10 right now. The Saturdays and Pixie Lott couldn't do it. He'll sell enough. I've not been a fan of his output so far but when he writes his own stuff next year I'll judge him on that. I can see him bringing an album of original material out towards the end of next year, it'll be interesting to see if he goes all pop or if he does half and half with classic. I hope it's all pop so there's no covers, he needs to establish his own style. He can always churn covers albums out pretty easily as stop gaps. If he wants to be a big star he needs to take risks.
December 3, 201113 yr It is pretty impressive given it has sold double and Universal did it easily. It is a brilliant album. This is not easy for any artist in that position, and particularly given X Factor and its history. He is able to get away, sign to another major label quickly, and be more successful now he is away from Syco. And his first tour selling out, and already plans for another one. :) Big middle finger to Syco. :D The albums that been produced are quality. It's beautiful, and will give it to Universal for producing a solid product. I recently heard "Driving Home For Christmas", and this should be released. It is the best version, and love the beat with the trumpets. Great choice. And only great artists can sell cover songs because they have amazing voices to create an individual style --- Adele, Florence, Whitney, Andrea Bocelli, etc. Edited December 3, 201113 yr by jonmove
December 3, 201113 yr Joe said in an interview aired today that he would be doing some writing. That it was likely to be in both styles - pop and classical/crossover but that he wouldn't be avoiding covers altogether.
December 4, 201113 yr So Sir Tim Rice is rewriting "A Winter's Tale" for Joe to sing at an event next week  Nice contacts to have. That will explain why he was at RFH giving Joe a standing ovation then :) Just furthers the point of how much respect he has from people who have been in the Music Industry for many years. Here's a clip of Joe confirming it http://soundcloud.com/mediamuppet-1/snippe...forthcoming-joe Edited December 4, 201113 yr by torresgirl

When I heard the track list for Classic although I am a massive fan of Joe, I did think "oh no not Over the Rainbow, I Dreamed a Dream" etc they have been done so many times but Joe brings a freshness and just something I can't explain to old songs making them fresh again. Good example of this is "White Christmas" which I have never liked but found myself humming along to :) Beautiful vocals. Edit : Joe has just tweeted that first week sales for Classic Christmas are higher than they were for Classic :) Edited December 4, 201113 yr by torresgirl

Good example of this is "White Christmas" which I have never liked but found myself humming along to :) Beautiful vocals. Edit : Joe has just tweeted that first week sales for Classic Christmas are higher than they were for Classic :) Yes Joe DID tweet this sales figure 24 hours ago but it was FALSE and he still hasn't corrected it. You have only to go to the Charts thread to get the true picture - quite amazing that neither Joe nor Universal have corrected this - shows what contempt they hold his fans in. The true figures are that Joe's current album is clearly his WORST in terms of chart positions (Wide Awake debuted at No 3, Classic at No 2 and Classic Christmas at No 15) and first week sales (39,400 for WA, 35,600 for Classic, 34,000 for CC). Yes, Universal are no doubt hoping that Joe reaps the benefit of the Christmas rush over the next two weeks - but there's no sign of it so far and the album will not sell ANYTHING after Christmas so will likely be the worst selling, however well it does next week. Anyway, we will know tomorrow, from the first midweeks. What fans CAN be certain of now is that they can never again trust any sales info Joe McElderry posts.

The information was coming directly from the label, and is accurate. Classic Christmas sold 100,000 to retailers within a day, and for Universal that is what they care about. Classic sold less than WA and that sold more than double now and continues to sell. :) You need to get your facts straight, and it is TRUE that it sold more than Classic. He is doing great so far. It is selling as much as Classic, and certified Gold within a day which exceed their expectation, while Classic continues to sell. Even if it only sold 100,000 so far, is still a success for him. And with plans of another album and tour next year already, Joe is very successful. Wonderful news for him. He is such a great young man! :) Edited December 6, 201113 yr by jonmove
