December 23, 201113 yr As you know the support at the Festival Hall was astounding. One of the men at Morrisons heard my car radio as I parked - Joe singing I Believe In Father Christmas - and said that thousands and thousands of copies of Classic Christmas had been sold in their store in Newport, Isle of Wight! So, Joe, please come down south for your many, many fans. Hear hear :) I see he got presented with a gold disc for Classic Christmas on TV this morning. Go on Joe! Do you have a Twitter account? You should message him about coming down south more if you do. Lots of people do and eventually his management may take notice! I've told him how people feel a few times by direct message as he follows me but he said he does his best to get to as many places as possible and time restraints mean he can't go everywhere even though he wants to . I understand but the South needs its turn now :) Happy Christmas :)
December 23, 201113 yr Author I do have a Twitter account and am always saying that I am too far away from the north-east to go to these signings and various gigs. I was quite moved when I saw the picture of him with the gold disc. :D

Turning it around slowly but surely and so deserved. Really hope Classic can go Platinum for him.
December 26, 201113 yr Sales update: Classic 232500 Classic Christmas 112500 :D Almost 350k albums is 4 months, not to shabby eh :)
December 27, 201113 yr I am so happy Joe has managed to find himself a little niche that he fits into perfectly instead of vanishing like many other x factor folk. When he released his second single I thought 'Oh dear, cheesy pop, not working for him = disaster'' but now he's surprised me and shot to the top with his classical releases! Go Joe!
December 27, 201113 yr Author Tonight and for the next three days he is performing at the O2. He is singing some of the carols from his Classic Christmas album as an introduction to the Birmingham Royal Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. The reaction so far has been only positive from tweets I have seen.

Yeah I went along, he was brilliant and looking every inch the star on those big screens :) Sure he would have gained a few new fans from tweets and audience reaction I have seen. Anyway not great quality in parts but here is Joe singing O Holy Night at the O2 for anyone interested http://t.co/SQ4NoYQ5 :) Edited December 30, 201113 yr by torresgirl

When he released his second single I thought 'Oh dear, cheesy pop, not working for him = disaster'' but now he's surprised me and shot to the top with his classical releases! Go Joe! What a nice post. His team are very clever, he has gained back the older audience with this material as it shows the strength of his voice but he hasn't gone classical entirely and is still recording the "pop ballads" as he calls them alongside. Result a very varied "family" audience.
January 1, 201213 yr The team behind Joe this time obviously know him better and know his strengths, he is very lucky to have been able to have moved on from x factor and im pretty sure that most of his fan base now are not the same ones who bought his debut, making that cross over to 2 very different markets isnt always easy but they have done a great job so far. As i said before im not a big fan of classical music and wouldnt buy his album but i think joe seems a nice guy and there is no doubt the guy can sing, so im happy to see him do well and also prove there can be life after been dropped by syco, i could be wrong in saying this but isnt he the first act dropped from syco that has managed to go and be successfull again?
January 1, 201213 yr I do think some of the people who bought Wide Awake wouldn't buy Classic as you say but at the same time I know there are a lot like me who have bought all his albums and have stayed with him after Wide Awake. I think Wide Awake would have sold a lot more if it got airplay etc but thats in the past now. His strength is his fantastic voice and it's being used now even though some might not like the choice of material. I don't see his albums as "classical" to be honest there are some songs that are in that genre but the Christmas album for example are pretty mainstream type songs in his "normal" voice, so he can go either way with his next album. Re being dropped by Syco, I think he is the only one to go on and be successful. I'm not sure if you can count Jedward as they were dropped but are personalities now rather than record sellers. I also agree he is so lucky to have moved on from XF. He doesn't need the show anymore to sell albums or XF performances to have a career and that is huge. Edited January 1, 201213 yr by torresgirl
January 1, 201213 yr I forgot about Jedward but very valid point they are more personalities than record sellers especially in the UK although here in Ireland both their albums have done hugely well as have their singles with the exception of wow oh wow which flopped. I agree Joe doesnt need x factor anymore and i also agree his voice can suit different styles of albums, if he doesnt do classic though next time what direction do you think he will or should go in?

I agree Joe doesnt need x factor anymore and i also agree his voice can suit different styles of albums, if he doesnt do classic though next time what direction do you think he will or should go in? He said (on Graham Norton) he will definitely do a more uptempo album again in the future but for now (album #4) I think another extreme departure from what people are expecting will be too much of a risk and could risk alienating all the people who love Classic. I have a feeling his next album won't have any arias on but will have some really well chosen covers and some new songs (he also said he will be meeting with songwriters after his winter holiday). I'm not comparing him to Adele (I know how well she's done and how loved she is but her voice leaves me cold, personal thing) but his version of Someone Like You is beautiful and tells me this is the kind of song he should be singing going forward. If someone could write him a song similar to that it would be amazing. So in short I think he will stick to a ballad type album next time around but less of the Classical stuff. Only half of Classic was actually "classical" anyway. I've attached someone like you so you get what I mean :) My only worry is if he brings out original stuff will the radio stations give it a chance? He gets played on Radio 2 but I don't think Capital and Heart etc will ever give him a chance for some reason. With Classic people knew what they were getting as most of the songs were well known but new material might need some getting used to and without airplay? Most of the promotion for Classic was done on daytime tv. I guess we'll see. As Classic did well some might buy on faith. One thing is for sure he's very young so has plenty of time to grow.
