August 8, 201113 yr Game cancelled. West Ham - Aldershot league cup game postponed too, games at Charlton and Crystal Palace also doubts.
August 8, 201113 yr Thank God it's cancelled. I don't see the point of these friendlies 3 days before the season starts.
August 8, 201113 yr It seems it's not been confirmed yet, but highly unlikely to go ahead. All public events tomorrow are due to be called off/postponed and an England match will need too many police resources.
August 9, 201113 yr Author It seems it's not been confirmed yet, but highly unlikely to go ahead. All public events tomorrow are due to be called off/postponed and an England match will need too many police resources. Yep just saw this tweeted by Sky Sports News: "The Metropolitan Police will make a decision this morning on whether tomorrow's match between England v Netherlands will go ahead" Likely that it will be called off though
August 9, 201113 yr I have seen rumours on Twitter that if the police do call it off the FA's may decide to play it behind closed doors.
August 9, 201113 yr Author Just been confirmed that it's been cancelled. The players will train this morning and then return home
August 9, 201113 yr Do you think the opening day of the Premership will be affected by the riots? Bristol City's game has been cancelled. Ghana v Nigeria still going ahead at Vicarage Road, Watford.
August 9, 201113 yr Ghana v Nigeria still going ahead at Vicarage Road, Watford.! Surely that's open to so much more trouble....
August 9, 201113 yr You'd have thought. I'm going to the first match between Forest and Notts County since 1993/4 tonight, was hoping it would be called off but police have said it will go ahead and they have in the cities football fans. That's not really what I'm worried about, more the face that the game will take an abnormally large police presence whilst a mile away in the town centre there were disturbances last night and I think the police may be required there more.
