I don't understand the attitude that R1 *has* to playlist anything that is a hit. They're *not* a hits station, if you want that there's Capital.

100% agreed here. Radio 1 have never said "we playlist EVERY song that does well in the uk". :P

Tbh, it's up to the radio station what THEY play. If you're not happy with their choices, then listen to a different station. It's as simple as that.

MLJ is probably still quite a bit ahead of Wretch because there was a big gap between 10 & 11 earlier, but I think Wretch will overtake them anyway and hopefuly Emeli will as well.
Ugh, Wretch can p*ss off. It's another case like Example whereby I like each subsequent single of his less, yet it performs better than the last. Don't Go has a mild hook in the chorus and that's about as kind as I can be about it

I am praying that MLJ stays ahead, just so that J.Lo, Nicole Scherzinger, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera can get a #1 in 2011. If anyone told me that at the beginning of 2010, I would have thought they had no clue about the charts at all.

Don't Go is a song which actually has 'clever' lyrics, I still don't know how anyone could say that about Down With The Trumpets which is about as lyrically awful as you can get without going into novelty territory

That factor doesn't quite make up for the fact it's Maroon 5 and therefore should not be #1 at all. IMO.

I wasn't looking to compare them  I've always been more about music and melody than lyrics and when the music is so dull that it has me reaching for the off switch then the lyrics are never going to make any impact on me.

I wasn't responding to your post - it was a completely separate statement.

9. Don't Go (Radio Edit) - Wretch 32

That's closed the gap to the top 10 very quickly! Should overtake Maroon 5 imminently then :D

And I'm guessing your peak for Example was Watch The Sun Go Up. :P Mine was the follow-up, but I can definitely see what you mean, (bar Two Lives, that was far worse that Changed The Way You Kiss Me.) However I do love Example's singles on the whole, much better than Wretch.

Who'd have thought that in this lifetime, we would see two songs in the Top Ten with the word 'Jagger' in them?

Bray once is enough for stating you dislike m5. I hope christina perri or MLJ reach the top or even nero for a 2nd week. Its about time there was some decent songs going to number 1 instead of overrated hyped trash like that wretch 32 and that cringeworthy and incredibly dull dont go.
