Thanks for asking Pam but he was told only today that he hasnt got the job, It was a long wait.

He isnt too bothered as he has done really well at swimming this year and has at last got a National Qualifying Time,

so he will need to put a lot of effort into his swimming.

What will be will be. :D

The interview would be good experience anyway. Congras to Andrew on his times - that relly is something o be proud off.

Well done Andrew - National qualifying time !!!!!!!!! You must have put in a lot of

practice. Never mind about the job, you tried , but there will always be other

opportunities. :)

I do wish this keyboard hadn't started missing out letters. If I actually sit near it and type carefully, it is better.

 ...and wear your glasses B)

That's one of the worrying things - I am wearing my glasses. I'll just have to try and move things so I'm sitting in front of it and thump the keys.

I have just read on Google news that producers and/or promoters trying

to tempt theatregoers with misleading quotes plucked from lukewarm

reviews could face legal action under new European Union rules, coming into

effect in a few months time.

It is time the public were given honest show 'blurbs'!!!!!!!!!! :cheer:

I hope it will also apply to abbreviated reviews printed inside

book covers.

But who's 'honest' reviews? Some of them are so biased they show no more of a correct assessment than taking out the best of a luke warm revies.

Too true. At least we may get an honest representation of the critics' views.

Whether the critics' views are unbiased is another matter, as you say.

It's all a case of one man's meat is another man's poison ........

even critics can be swayed by their own personal preferences.

I saw this on TV, where theatre posters use a snippet of a review, for example.."wonderful" when the full quote was "wonderful waste of money!" I had to chuckle, it was totally misleading,

Which Darius wasn't in. If he had been, it would have been wonderful. Patrick Swaze gave it some zest. I spent the whole show looking at what was best for D though. I thought he's do really well as Sky, although I did wonder about one dance routine. His stage presence will make the role. It was charisma that was the missing factor when I saw it.

I'm paraphrasing this....................Neil Sean was very clear and he said that many of the critics are biased and not just about particular producers, directors, actors but that some of them accept tickets to the kind of shows they hate and it means that what goes on on the stage will be slagged off no matter what. He thought it shouldbe done like on broadway where he described it as being "banded" - I took that to mean that critics belong to groups and certain ones review comedies... others musicals, and so on.

Oh dear! Whilst I've been away I've apparently missed out on buying the miracle cream .........Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect

Serum............ anti-wrinkle cream at £17 for 30mls !!! It seems people have been queueing for hours to buy this wonder

product after the T.V.programme Horizon publicised the results of tests by two scientists.

I would have been really impressed if I hadn't also found out that the two scientists concerned are both

employed...........by Boots!!!!!!!!!!!

lol... people are so much like sheep it is astounding.

I have just bought some Q10 cream, and anti wrinkle cream form ...Wilkinsons for £1.99 a tub of 30ml, and to be honest it is just as good an effect, smell and feeling as ones I have bought that were dearer..given I only bought those when they were half price to try!!

I was astounded enough by the queues for kate Mosses clothes at Miss Selfridges?..

thank god its raining today!! I have been worried about next doors pond, and had to sneakily use my hose to keep the water level up, as the tadpoles looked in danger. what a fool I must have looked ducking under the hedge and aiming!! I could have told him the water was getting to low, but I bet he would think I was a nosey neighbour.LOL

It's grey here today and windy. It's not cold though and yesterday had a grey start and end, so it could improve. Still no rain though. The fields are getting brown - and it's only May
My husband was in Boots at Dartmouth last week where there was a queue of 17 people waiting for this cream, unfortunately only 8 jars came in so the first 8 got the cream, the others were disappointed. There have been reviews of it in the mail and mirror this week, not all good.
Our Boots told me that some women were so early they even brought chairs and provisions with them. At least they are keeping people amused.
