If the Waking With You set hasn't worked out (yet), I suppose the choice was not to display the picture at all or fit it into one of the existing sets.

I've now clicked my way through all of them and apart from the black and white beach group, IMHO Reportage Portraits is the only possible place for it. I don't blame her for keeping it in. It's a very good portrait.

Most profession photographers put their pictures in sets when displaying them. I think the D one is very good when viewed alone ....high key pictures are difficult, but she has used diffused frontal lighting to good effect. And the composition is good,

the line of the well lit arm leading the eye to his face, and the other arm and shoulder suitably shaded [retouched or given longer exposure in the darkroom ?] so as not to be too obtrusive. Maybe I look at photos in a different way to most people.

Beautiful highlights in the eyes, but she has lost the detail in his hair, probably intentionally, by using a large aperture to

severely limit the depth of field to emphasise his eyes, and the forearm is burnt out [no detail]. Nonetheless, a beautiful

and striking photo, but I would still have preferred more sleepy, just woken up eyes, not so alert.

Can't do sleepy but can do D grabbing some shuteye.

I guess that was taken some time ago. His features aren't quite so chiselled now.
He does look different from the side though. It's quite difficult to get a good one of him that way, he always trys to look towards the camera for you

he has a great jaw line, I dislike weak jawlines on men. his is strong, but not overly, it is the perfect jaw line to me.

The picture I hate most of Darius, is the lipstick kisses one from Heat. Perhaps it was meant to be fun but I do think that one totally demeans him. Runner-up would be the knickers in the mouth one.

yes, typical of those gossip rags. I am glad Darius didnt do too many of those poses - could have been worse though some celebs and popstars let themselves be photographed in very demeaning ways
Oops, meant to post that in the photographs thread. Would one of our lovely mods move the appropriate posts to that thread, pretty please.

mm, would do, but I can't, I have tried move posts option but it says I don't have permission. oh well, you could just post it in the photographs thread and I will delete the post here if you want
We've always had territorial swans. They keep any other swan away. This year, we have a male swan which wont chase intruders away. If they get out of the river to get away from him, he follows and attacks them on the bank. When he chases them back into the river, he doesn't let them take off, instead, he stands on their back until they drown. We have three dead swans floating in the bushes. The Swan Sanctury wont help as they say there are too many swans on this stretch of the river. Together with the mallard drakes which gang rape the females and drown quite a few each year, the river is not such a pleasant ploace to walk at the moment.

nature can be cruel, I havent seen a Swan act like that before, usually they just fight and one is seen off. I suppose trhere are so many fighting for precious territory that it takes ectreme measures. There are loads at marlow, yearlings especially. I know about the Drakes though, I feel for the poor females, we had to stop for a mother and her twenty or so tiny babies crossing the duel carriage way near handycross the other week, where she was going to or from is anyones guess, don't think there is a river nearby.

This is the first swan we've had that wants to kill rather than chase off. It doesn't just want to maintain it's territory. The other swans really just want to go away. I suppose it's the same with them as it is with people. Every now and then a vicious thug is produced.

Here's some different animals to take your mind off nature...
