Posted August 26, 201113 yr Couldnt see a thread for it anywhere, so thought I would start one. Does anyone follow athletics here? The WCs start tomorrow and cant wait to see Jess Ennis, Mo Farah and Christine Ohuruogu in action!
August 27, 201113 yr Sadly Christine Ohurogu was disqualified from her heat in the 400m because she false started. Presenting Team for the World Athletics Championships as it's on Channel 4 this year: Otis Deley- Main presenter Michael Johnson Rick Edwards Dean Macey Rob Walker Katherine Merry John Rawling Iwan Thomas Sonja McLaughlan
August 27, 201113 yr Author I was gutted for Christine. Such bad luck. Im not too keen on it on Channel 4, prefer BBC coverage.
August 28, 201113 yr Usain Bolt false-started in the 100m final. Could not believe it. Also Chambers false-started in the semi-finals of the 100m Mo Farah won a sliver medal in the 10,000m but was pipped at the finish line. This new false-start rule is too harsh.
August 28, 201113 yr eZgtCR3IMqc 0:35 the moment he false-started. Edited August 28, 201113 yr by ukchartstatsfan
September 1, 201113 yr We've won a gold in the 400m hurdles today and a sliver in the 1500m Well done Dai Greene and Hannah England Only one gold. It's not going to look good on us if we only don't won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in our home country. It would be embrassing
September 1, 201113 yr Channel 4 has removed Ortis Deley as the main presenter for the World Athletic Championship coverage this is why: A6o52kZxvtg
September 2, 201113 yr Hmm, still Mo Farah and Philips Idowu to come for more gold medal chances. Not been great for Team GB from the little I have seen but no disaster.
September 2, 201113 yr Wasn't the target 6-7 medals? We've got 5 so far, Farah's got a chance in the 5000m plus we might get one in one of the relays, as well as Idowu in the triple jump. So we could beat the target :)
September 3, 201113 yr We've currently got 5, and the target was 7 which we should exceed with Idowu/Farah/men's relay. The problem really has been athletes who were only really outside medal chances have been underperforming badly - Shakes-Drayton and Rooney spring to mind even if the former was a little unlucky. That men's 4x400m team was a joke, I can't believe Bingham has suddenly lost two seconds of pace overnight so why was he not even in the squad?
September 3, 201113 yr Wow, Tiffany Porter just took 0.04 off her own British record in the 100m hurdles. Definite medal contender even if she's unlikely to get close to Sally Pearson.
September 3, 201113 yr Wow, Tiffany Porter just took 0.04 off her own British record in the 100m hurdles. Definite medal contender even if she's unlikely to get close to Sally Pearson. Final: 01 Sally Pearson (AUS) 12.28 (WL, CR) 02 Danielle Carruthers (USA) 12.47 (PB) 03 Dawn Harper (USA) 12.47 (PB) 04 Tiffany Porter (GBR) 12.63 05 Tatyana Dektyareva (RUS) 12.82 06 Nikkita Holder (CAN) 12.93 07 Phylicia George (CAN) 17.97 Pearson was unbelievable in the final. Fourth fastest ever now I think. Porter was well in contention for silver but clipped the last two hurdles and her form completely went. Had she gone clean over she'd have smashed the British record AGAIN, probably by over a tenth of a second.
