Trailer makes it look decent but you have to ask what is the point? The original Thing From Outer Space is a genuine classic Cold War paranoia movie and the John Carpenter 80s remake is pretty much a perfect movie that hasn't really dated that much. What can this latest attempt hope to gain except give further evidence that Hollywood is bankrupt of original thought?

It's meant to be a prequel, but it just does look as if it will be exactly the same as the original. I can see why they're using the brand, because there's not been a breakout horror movie in a while from any of the major studios. And the remakes of the all the classic slasher films all flopped massively.

As much as I loved the original I massively prefer the John Carpenter film. It stayed as faithful to the original as it could yet still had Carpenter's own personal touch. The effects for the time were brilliant too.

I can't see that trailer as I can't be bothered to download the software program (I know its free - I just find myself getting lazier the older I get). I'll look out for a trailer on youtube if poss!
