Posted August 30, 201113 yr Finally the upcoming Metallica and Lou Reed collaboration - dubbed Loutallica - has been given a release date and it's set to drop on Hallowe'en. The album is said to be inspired by German Expressionist playwright Frank Wedekind. Song titles are said to include 'Junior Dad’, ‘Little Dog’, ‘Mistress Dread’ and ‘Pumping Blood’. This sounds like quite an interesing project to me. Never been a huge Metallica fan to be honest but they are probably the biggest Metal band in the world and I've always had a soft spot for Lou Reed. Quite how this is going to sound I don't know but I'm surprisingly looking forward to hearing this.
August 30, 201113 yr i'm fairly intrigued, i'm toally up for some new Metallica anyway as the last album was great.
September 3, 201113 yr I'm very interested to hear how this turns out, I can appreciate Metallica in small doses and Lou Reed has produced some amazing stuff in the past...
September 19, 201113 yr Author First snippet has been released. Track is The View DZhnTY_tdeU&feature=player_embedded Don't know about you guys but this sounds like a car crash to me
September 19, 201113 yr not impressed. but thats only 35 seconds, i'll wait for the whole thing to make my judgement.
September 19, 201113 yr Ewww So Lou... Either one of us is mentally ill and it's not probably me. Edited September 19, 201113 yr by SKOB
September 27, 201113 yr I consider myself quite open minded when I listen to music but I just found this to be awful Metallica did the S&M stuff earlier in their career with the orchestras and it worked because it mixed. Lou Reed's vocals mixed with a guitar riff that goes on for about 3 minutes solid is something that doesn't sound right and doesn't mix well. Even the differing guitar riffs towards the end and hearing Hetfield can't save it Edited September 27, 201113 yr by Gerry1975
September 27, 201113 yr Lou Reed duetting with Metallica is really a collaboration that was never going to mix well anyway if we're being totally honest... It just seems such an unlikely pairing and like an exercise in sticking a square peg into a round hole... Things that seem good on paper sometimes should just stay that way...
September 27, 201113 yr this is just incredibly boring. lets face it, they really shouldn't have bothered. such a shame after Metallica redeemed themselves with Death Magnetic.
September 27, 201113 yr I've come to the conclusion that Lou Reed is just having a laugh Lou Reed..? Laugh..? You're kidding, he's a right miserable git.....
October 14, 201113 yr Just got sent this to our station. Not really impressed that much, I'm not a fan of Metallica, but I do dig Lou Reed and Velvet Underground. I just don't think Reed is trying (or want to try) anymore. Perhaps that's the reason he decided to tour Metal Machine Music last year.
November 3, 201113 yr This is flopping on its arse despite "Death Magnetic" being a pretty successful comeback. There's been the odd good review of it but it just seems so inaccessible, the last two tracks totalling half an hour (when I find Metallica excessive usually anyway) reeks of self-indulgence.
November 3, 201113 yr Author From what I've read Hetfield has described it as 'not the new Metallica album' but rather Lulu as it's own entity and that Lou Reed has received death threats from some of the more idiotic Metallica fans

There's been the odd good review of it but it just seems so inaccessible, the last two tracks totalling half an hour (when I find Metallica excessive usually anyway) reeks of self-indulgence. I like Metallica, I like Lou Reed... I also like sirloin steak and Banoffee ice cream, but I wouldn't particularly want to have them both on the same plate, know what I mean....?
November 9, 201113 yr I like Metallica, I like Lou Reed... I also like sirloin steak and Banoffee ice cream, but I wouldn't particularly want to have them both on the same plate, know what I mean....? I think that's why it's done so badly, it was just a concept that in reality was never going to produce great results.
November 9, 201113 yr I'm under the impression that both Lou Reed and Metallica are massively taking the piss. this is St Anger bad.
November 9, 201113 yr I'm under the impression that both Lou Reed and Metallica are massively taking the piss. this is St Anger bad. Oh, we're actually beyond St Anger bad..... lol
November 10, 201113 yr St. Anger was decent, this (or the parts I've listened to) sounds all kinds of awful... I mean there's a 19:29 MINUTES long song going nowhere. Not to mention the lyrics..
