I'm yet again confused with the sale estimates lol e.g.

30. Cher - The Shoop Shoop Shoop Songs (says it sold 490k, yet it is featured on the 100 Biggest Selling Songs of the 90s at no.98 meaning it sold around 540k)

29. Madonna - Crazy For You (says it also sold 490k, yet on the her Top 20 Biggest Selling Singles list it is at no.4 having sold 670k)

Can anyone help? Cheers.

The latter figures are more likely true- dunno where the first set of figures came from- all they do is confuse people lol

All this depends on a number of factors.

Are they including downloads? If so, up to what date?

A key point is that sales figures historically were estimates, open to re-interpretation if better information was found. The sample was too small to be certain of total sales while still being big enough to be the accurate weekly guide to relative performance that we know of as the chart.
