September 6, 201113 yr Hi RMD actually thats a really good point, that is the song i stuggled with on first listen, so can see totally where youre coming from. i think some US bloggers have picked out Come on, as a stand out track, and really when we compare notes on which we like best, there is always different songs in everyones say top 3, but very interesting what you have said :D That's what I thought, don't get me wrong, I'm very fond of the song. It's true, I think everyone has their own personal choice for single, which only goes to prove what an achievement this album is. I can't really remember the last album I bought where I've seen people have so many different opinions on what the next single should be. And to SweetWilliamFan, you're probably right. It's definitely a different sound to some of his past work and it's a very catchy song.
September 6, 201113 yr If i had my choice it wouldn't be Come On on as its not a fave of mine, it's still a great track though and I'm sure it will do well..so what do i know  but i don't agree RMD that it sounds like something to appeal just to Will's fanbase, ..i think Come on is a different sound to what people expect from Will..if you remove his albums as whole bodies of work and just go with all his single releases which is after all what most people know of him then Come On on does stand out as a different sound for him IMO. I really hope there are four single this time..cause i will have a melt down if i don't get IJWAL! that's my must have track. [bold] A Question for everyone on here, if you had the say on one single release..which one is the MUST have single for you?[/bold] You'll know mine already, Hearts on Fire. :D I saw someone describe it as bland somewhere today, mind boggling to me! I think I've expanded the number of tracks I think could be singles though - the only ones I don't think would work are Outsider and Happy Now. I think Come On is quite an unusual song. I don't think there's anything about it that appeals to Will's fan base per se.
September 6, 201113 yr The thing with this album is that all the tracks are good. So many artists put out albums that have four/five obvious singles and the rest fillers. IMO, Outsider is the only track on Echoes that is definitely not single material, but it's because there's such a wide choice to pick from that there's such a variety of favourites being bandied about. I haven't seen an obvious front runner yet, maybe Silent Valentine is slightly ahead, but certainly no overwhelming favourite next single. Hi Marguerite, this is what is so fantastic about Wills albums there is something for everyone, Silent Valentine is at the bottom of my list and Outsider is towards the top. it is very hard to choose tho, Bev asked earlier which track everyone wanted to be a single, I love IJWAL and so want it to be a single, but is it my next single or the third one, my favourites are changing all the time. Lie next to me on first listen was also at the bottom of my list, but since hearing it more and the fantastic perf on Wills show it gone up 10 fold in my liking it.

Yes! that's the amazing thing about Echoes, with other albums most people can spot the singles right away because they are usually the stand out tracks, but with Echoes the choice seems endless. :D You'll know mine already, Hearts on Fire. I saw someone describe it as bland somewhere today, mind boggling to me! I think I've expanded the number of tracks I think could be singles though - the only ones I don't think would work are Outsider and Happy Now. I agree about Outsider Ros..it's gorgeous but quite stark and i don't think it would translate well on radio. Hearts of Fire is amazing! nothing bland about that or any track on Echoes IMO

I do think you have a point RMD some of the tracks on the album are, although they are different to what Will had done before, he still has his own sound, but some resonate nearer to his material he has recorded before than some of the other tracks, i think he is still taking us gently with him, its the 50-50 thing again, i think some of the tracks could have fitted on LIG if you think about (pardon the pun) the Tell me the worst remix in particular, and love. Ros i love Hearts on fire, and also dont want Happy now to be a single :D Dont tell me off Bev i see you writing a post  Edited September 6, 201113 yr by phil3579
September 6, 201113 yr I think only Outsider might of fitted onto LIG IMO, I can't think of any others that would, I agree though that Will does take his audience with him as he goes along, it's like he knows where he wants to go but also knows not to rush right there in one giant leap. History was a gage to Echoes, but a whole album full of History tracks probably wouldn't of worked, but Echoes Which clearly is another step forward clearly does, it's new and it's different for Will but he keeps his voice and his lyrics true to his older work while shaking things up and making everything fresh, it's all goes together so very well you can only admire that thought behind it all. :D

September 26, 201113 yr I hope its for the deluxe :cheer: i would love Will to do all the tracks on Echoes as acoustic tracks ..i would buy that deluxe album  OOH thanks Sunday :cheer: :cheer: I have been wracking my brain to see what i thought would fit on the DVD I did come up with something filmed in the studio or remixes, but yes that would be fantastic to have the acoustic tracks filmed :cheer: maybe with a bit of chat about how the tracks came about, would love that :cheer: So do we think that was what the earlier tweet was about? must have been. I just couldnt justify in my mind the Will special being put on there or any of the other things that have been filmed, like Ronnies, as it would have jarred just not fitted at all, im so pleased this has come up :w00t: Thanks Sunday also for the video info too. :cheer: Wonder what he will delight us with this time? I do hope he is going to follow in the same vein as Jealousy, and fit the video to the song, I dont want a Great British Bake Off video  I wouldnt put it past him :heehee:
September 26, 201113 yr I wonder what he is filming today. This is obviously with David Tench & Rupert, so an acoustic performance for something or other I would think. Anne over on Devoted asked David about his Tweet re the soundcheck and got this reply: davidtench David Tench @ @Ann1976 sorry not for public this one. Always good to see Will though :-) I did wonder if it was for a private job as he said "soundcheck" and it's just the three boys.

September 27, 201113 yr Will Young - Come On Sometimes, an artist will just get it bang on the money with their next single choice. This is the case for Mr. Will Young, who's gone for his delightful cover of Kish Mauve's Come On as the follow up to Jealousy. Half of Will's album Echoes is penned by the electro-pop group (who, if you remember, also gave us Kylie Minogue's brilliant 2 Hearts) and just with Jealousy, there's both the instant appeal of the song's hooks, but also a kind of gradual dawning of just how beautiful and true the lyrics really are. With his Echoes album, Will has hit on the real sentiment that lies at the heart of each and every one of us. As Come On launches into its chorus, the song feels like its been locked up in Will's heart ever since he won Pop Idol - it positively bursts out from him, full of emotion and some rather nice vocodered ad libs (note to George Michael, this is what your cover of True Faith should have sounded like) Take That hit their stride when they turned to dreamy synth-pop, and so too has Will Young. There's much to be said to pairing a voice as soulful and relaxed as Will's to the futuristic electro-scapes that populate his album. There's a crisp, crystalline quality to the production that exudes such luxury, you get a real sense of both the song and album being a real 'premium' product. Come On is released on the 21st November. http://www.totallyvivid.com/2011/09/will-young-come-on.html
