I had a horror moment of thinking VERA LYNN. Then a FAR BETTER and more discotits moment of thinking SHIRLEY BASSEY *o*
I'm going to be totally ageist and say ANYBODY over the age of 50 (yes, even Dame Shirley) is a potentially catastrophic idea.
Dame Shirley is about the ONLY exception I'd make for someone over 50.
That's not the first mention of DSB (I saw it mentioned elsewhere a few days ago :eyes:), how utterly fabulous that would be. It'll never happen though, I don't think she'd be up for it for one.
Rumours are saying that we're entering someone 75 or over. But then, rumours have said everyone from Adele to Barrowman by now.

Oh god :/ Our very own 75 Cents moment!

I can't think of anybody over 75 who I'd like to see in the contest, although I guess I could accept Shirley. Seems unlikely though, she's too legendary.

At least Vera Lynn had a UK #1 album more recently than Blue :P

She did perform at San Remo in the 60s!

Oh well that was THEN, her ego seems to suggest to me she wouldn't do it.

If it is her, I demand she acts like a total diva the whole time. I doubt she'd do it any differently though, THIS IS NOT THE VIP LOUNGE indeed *.*

I wonder WHY BBC would do something like that? I mean what's the thought process? Surely it's one of the following two - either they think entering someone respected and established (and near death) would do wonders ans they'll get a grandma/pity vote (then they clearly only saw how 75 Cents did in the Semifinal completely ignoring 'Romanca' flopped in the final) or BBC really want to embarrass themselves ON PURPOSE (which sounds more like the truth).

I think it's far more likely that the BBC just doesn't care. Why should they? It's essentially free massive ratings for them whatever they send this year given Jedward are entering again for Ireland...
Good morning folks. We'll be getting our 'act' in gear very soon. No news today, but rest assured we'll let you know absolute second we can! While we wait, we're dusting off the archive with a 90s rewind. Who was you favourite UK act of the decade?'

Some minor news - I do hope that isn't an hint of some washed up 90s act being our representitive though.

Well, Rita Ora is clearly not doing Eurovision this year then.

Ora recently claimed her first UK number one as part of DJ Fresh's latest single 'Hot Right Now'.

The 21-year-old will tour with the DJ later this year, starting at Leeds University's Stylus on May 7 and finishing at Glasgow's Arches on May 19.

That's one rumour down if it was ever a rumour.
