Have to say I've not really been impressed by anything since 212 :(

I think Azealia Banks is going to be one of the most interesting artists to watch this year in terms of an evolving musical and social context. What we're seeing at the moment is a number of low-key, almost bedroom-like recordings and 'pet project' songs that I doubt in the long term will play any part in her musical identity, perhaps her evolution but not who she will be come the end of the year.

From all her interviews, twitter messages and general "presence" I get this over-riding sense of exerted egotism and a sense of musical entitlement on the basis of blog bubble-and-squeak hype. Her disparaging comments regarding her time at XL and her very deliberate and continuing evolution into a major label, major money artist simply does not make for a cohesive story or artist. It's all very sweet the bits and bobs floating out now. The old Azealia of samples is all very good and well but I suspect the big-budget big Epsworth-produced record will see a very different projection of Azealia altogether. What sort of a backlash we shall I do not know yet. As has been the case with her career thus far it all depends on viral identity, projection and image. The songs strangely mean very little.

DIS. :(

Azealia has JUST ANNOUNCED that she has signed to Universal.

A round of applause and let us wish her all the best etc

I wish her all the best.

Well, that's the best thing I've heard from her since '212'. <3

Bambi is the sort of thing I was waiting for from her! Love it, hope this is more the sound the album takes on rather on Liquorice or Needsumlove.
I think this tops '212' for me! Love her flow after the drop!
She's now signed to Polydor Records in the UK.
