While the depth covered in this forum is fantastic, while trawling through various indie blogs I thought there's an awful lot of good music that slips through the net so I thought it would be a good idea to have a home for those tracks and bands that don't yet warrant a thread of their own.

So basing this completely on the Radio 6 Round Table where new tracks are discussed and rated by a panel of "experts", I thought it would be a good idea to have a buzzjack version of this.

So I am presenting (in this edition) 5 tracks that I think merit more exposure and further discussion.

I don't know how much of a runner this will be but I thought it was worth a go.

Please PM me if you know of a track that would fit here that you think needs more people to hear and if this proves to be a success then I'll include them in later editions.

Feel free to rate the tracks with a mark out of 10 (and I'll calculate the ratings in a week or so and announce the favourite track.)

So without further ado I present the first 5 tracks...

1. S.C.U.M - Whitechapel

S.C.U.M are a band from London who seem to specialise in much the same are that The Horrors are currently exploring i.e. that 80s inspiredd synth-rock that just ends up being totally anthemic.

2. Brad - Waters Deep

I don't really know how to express my total love for Shawn Smith, lead vocalist for Brad and a number of other bands (Satchel, Pigeonhed, Arsenal, All Hail the Crown as well as realeasing solo stuff.) This is from a soon to be released Brad album. Brad have been in existance since 1992 and is the vehicle for Shawn and Stone Gossard from Pearl Jam.

3. Fujiya & Miyagi - Chichikov

Brighton's finest purveyors of Musik Cosmische-inspired Electronica were commissioned by Nike back in 2008 to write a piece of music to soundtrack a running session. The finished piece was never released... until now and Chichikov is an edit from the 37 minute long sequence.

4. Sóley - I'll Drown

I think this is a gorgeous track from Sóley, a member of the Icelandic band Sinfang. She released the Theater Islane EP last year but tis track really caught my attention and I am really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album.

5. Charlotte Gainsbourg - Terrible Angels

Top notch return from Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin's daughter. Charlotte released the excellent IRM album in 2009 and looks to be onto another winner here

So there we go, five tracks that deserve the light of day. I hope you enjoy something here. What do you all think of them?

I did wonder once or twice if a 'Discuss What You're Listening To' style thread in here would be a good idea for those songs/bands that don't really need a thread of their own but are likely to get overlooked in the Lounge, so like this but without the need to PM. Might look a bit uppity to other though so I dunnno.

Massive love for S.C.U.M and Fujiya & Miyagi anyway, I never really got S.C.U.M until their new stuff started coming out but now I really love it.

S.C.U.M - Whitechapel 5/10

A more upbeat Horrors I guess, but no where near as good, and where The Horrors music sounds very natural and organic, this just sounds like they are trying very hard to be that sort of sound, in a they think they're cool way but really they just look like bellends. And the vocals are very bad.

Brad - Waters Deep 6/10

This is alright, but only that, alright. Not really enough musical ideas in this to justify over 4 minutes, I was starting to get bored after 2. pretty bland sounding.

Fujiya & Miyagi - Chichikov 7.5/10

This is a very interesting piece, great mix and use of instruments. I like the use of guitar in this, the drums sound very cool too. Bit different to your usual electronica track.

Sóley - I'll Drown 7/10

not really my sort of thing, but nice enough track, very simple but lovely.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - Terrible Angels 7/10

basically female pop but much well more thought and sophisticated, definatly a massive step up from the crap that tops the charts these days. Not my sort of thing again, but definatly not a bad track.

S.C.U.M : Whitechapel.

They wish they sounded like The Horrors!. Musically it's ok if not a little twee, however the vocals are very weak. Regarding image , the lead man looks dreadful and uncharismatic.

4/10

BRAD : Water's Deep

Don't know anything about these, but I like it, very QOTSA/Grandaddy- good mature American indie/rock

7/10

Fujiya & Mayaki : Chichikov

They still have not done anything as good as Ankle Injuries, however this is quite good - sounding a little krautrock whish is always good. I'd definitley listen to it again

7.5/10

Soley : I'll Drown

Nothing to set it aside from anything else that has come before. Nice vocal however if going with Iceland I'd stick with Olof Arnaulds..... Next!

5/10

Charlotte Gainsbourg : Terrible Angels

One of the sexiest and coolest women in the world has been listening to too much Goldfrapp..... I'd rather she shyed away from the electro beats.

6.5/10
