Posted September 23, 201113 yr I have to add this Thread, as I do not want this Boy to be forgotten. Nor the other people, who have taken their lives, due to being bullied. Nor for those, who are currently being bullied, to be forgotten. Have you heard of Jamey Rodemeyer? I watched a Video of his on YouTube, on Wednesday. He sent it to YouTube in May. He was 14. I was devestated to learn that he killed himself last Sunday. (18th). He was being bullied at School. He was a Lady GaGa Fan, & his death has caused a huge stir in the USA. Bullies would not leave him alone because he was Gay. They even sent him 'Death Threats'. In May, he felt better - hence his Video. By September, he could take no more. This is why intolerance is so wrong - be it be based on Race, Sexuality, Religion, or Gender. We are all people. some of the bullies may now be prosecuted for what they did to Jamey. The Police are involved. JAMEY IN MAY (A Video that he contributed to a Project, that aims to stop Children like him being victimised) JAMEY IN SEPTEMBER His Video For Jen (26 Seconds Long) (He tells her that he hopes to visit New York City in October). http://www.youtube.com/user/xgothemo99xx His distressed Video - the Boy is clearly very ill, by this time (39 Seconds long) 'REUNITED' http://www.youtube.com/user/xgothemo99xx#p/a/u/1/uNmSBQQkE-A 'HOME OF THE BRAVE' - JODY MILLER (1965) A Tribute to Jamey. A Song about a Mother, who pleads for people to stop bullying her Son, at School, just because he's 'different'. A plea for tolerance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy6bmgxwBew I hope that this bullying ends, as it is evil, cruel, inexcusable, & it destroys lives. Edited September 23, 201113 yr by zeus555
September 23, 201113 yr It is very sad to know that this type of homophobic bullying still occurs. I hope those responsible face criminal chargers. Bigotry, racism and religious prejudice are seemingly encouraged in America by certain News outlets and Politicians on the right. If anyone watched the Republican debate on Fox News a Gay soldier was booed by the audience. http://www.towleroad.com/2011/09/iraqsoldier.html
September 23, 201113 yr All bullying is wrong, regardless of who the victim is, and the reasons for their persecution. I have seen people in my old school driven to suicide by constant bullying, and I suffered from bullying throughout school as a result of my weight. Schools need to adopt a zero tolerance policy to bullying, severely punishing bullys the moment it becomes apparant that they are engaged in such behaviour.
September 24, 201113 yr While I agree with a "zero tolerance" approach to bullying, it's worth mentioning that much of the bullying that happens in school really has its origins in the home.. Either the bullies are themselves being physically abused by parents or parents are "teaching" their children intolerance and hatred... In the case of homophobic or race-related bullying I have no doubt whatsoever that this is learned behaviour, no one is born a bigot, it's taught.... What needs to be done is for a zero tolerance towards bad parenting and I think a lot of bullying would be eradicated....
