Anyone ever heard of, or appreciate, Gene Loves jezebel? Had minor success in the USA, so I am told. Also success in Portugal.

Their best known song was perhaps this one, Motion Of Love

Great song.

Yeah I remember them. Fairly lightweight goth associated (small g) types. Saw them live once upporting Bowie. Motion Of Love is their best. Desire was also ok

Naaah...the songs you're mentioning are the later poppier end of the band..... their first few albums are the best - the single/EP Bruises especially great.

I saw them supporting Bowie on his Sound and Vision tour in 1990..... also, saw them and Fields of the Nephilim in Cardiff in the 80s... yes, they got poppier as they went on, but the earlier stuff was far from poppy. And it's bizarre that they didn't have huge hits with the later material..... seriously great pop songs.

They hail from Porthcawl in South Wales..... my mate Boyd was very friendly with them..... and went to Michael Aston's wedding before the band were popular...... I've seen the wedding photos.... all prog rock hair and crimplene flared suits...... nothing like their 'gothy' image that came later on.....

Forgot about Bruises. Yeah that's ok too but I can't say I've ever 'liked' the band particularly. Just a hadnful of ok tracks for me.

Oh and Russt, Bowie 1990. Milton Keynes?

It was Milton Keynes, yes.... I actually worked at the gig - a mate of mine worked for the merchandising company Brockum.... and I worked on the tshirt stall for the 2 days of the 2 gigs..... loads of money, cash in hand, too.... and we got to see the soundchecks and most of the gigs, as the only busy time was when people arrived or left. The money they made on merchandise over those 2 days was jaw-dropping. And what a superb gig it was, too...... Bowie's hand-picked Greatest Hits tour..... loved it.

I went to the first day (saturday I think) and it was was brilliant indeed. Exceptionally hot if I recall. Were you lucky enough to meet the man himself?

I wasn't unfortunately - us minions were allowed to watch the soundcheck - but from quite a way back..... as much as I love Bowie, in a way I'm almost glad to not have met him as he is one star I just know I'd turn into a blubbering, blabbering wreck in front of. Just because, well - it's Bowie..... it'd be like bumping into Jesus. Only much better, of course :D
