October 5, 201113 yr Author Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley is joined by a host of musical guests for sensational live performances and intelligent and lively debate. Beginning with the son of a former Beatle – musician and singer-songwriter Julian Lennon - Jo welcomes guests from a range of genres, including Welsh alternative rockers The Manic Street Preachers, British rapper Professor Green, American producer DJ Shadow, Happy Mondays vocalist Shaun Ryder, electronic music group Metronomy and disco and funk band Friendly Fires. They’ll be getting to the bottom of some of the toughest issues facing the music industry and answering intriguing questions like: Which covers are better than the originals? Has Lady Gaga rendered Madonna irrelevant? And what song would you like played at your funeral? Each week, there will also be a performance special, during which her musical guests will give an intimate half-hour performance of their recent music and greatest hits.. :o http://www.skyarts.co.uk/music/article/the...ley-music-show/ Edited October 5, 201113 yr by Sunday

October 5, 201113 yr Thanks sunday, I'll definitely be tuning into that one and surely Jo is now a "former" radio1 DJ, she's now a radio2 DJ. :D
October 5, 201113 yr This sounds brilliant. I'm almost certain even though I'm on Virgin, I have this channel because I'm sure it's what the Hard Rock Calling highlights were on, which I recorded for The Killers. Will have to make sure. I just noticed James Morrison has some special intimate half hour set thingy on Virgin and thinking how much I'd love Will to do something similar and this sounds perfect, one to mark in the diary for sure. It's clear how much Jo adores Will so this should be excellent  The discussion element sounds really interesting too. I'm sure Will has a lot of thoughts on the music industry!

I'm sure he will. Great guest for this show with his live vocals & someone who doesn't shy away from expressing an opinion. Great to have you posting in the forum.
October 7, 201113 yr How brilliant is that :D It should boost Echoes sales too :D A half hour set AND debate too, do we think the show must be an hour long? how indulgent :D Thank you Sunday and Mary :D Hello PurpleNurples. Yes it is fantastic that Will is doing this, he gets on so well with Jo too. I think she is the perfect one to interview him to get the best out of him, as long as she takes heed of where a comma is and takes a long breath so Will can get a word in edgeways  I'm sure Will has some very poignant views on a lot of things, he's a great one to interview. So looking forward to this :D
October 8, 201113 yr Just seen the advert for this, Jo speaks really passionately about the need for a show that is just about the music and what really struck me is the quality of the acts that are on Noel Gallagher, Friendly Fires and mentioning Will Young in between all these 'uber cool' critical darlings just seemed so Natural, tripped off Jo's tongue. I think he really would have stood a chance this year at getting the award he covets most if it wasn't for Ed Sheeran!! Annoying but there you go, think he's in with a shout for an album nomination actually. Can't wait for this show, it sounds like the kind of show the music industry is crying out for! Anyone notice the album chart show is still running? Kind of miffed he hasn't been asked to do this, he has in the past!

At last he is really being taken seriously as a credible singer songwriter. :D Pity about the album chart show. He gave outstanding performances when on there before. October 13, 201113 yr Thanks Sunday. Do you know when this series starts? My daughter's boyfriend is wanting to watch Noel Gallagher. http://www.skyarts.co.uk/music/article/the...ley-music-show/ :) Starts the 21st, and it looks like the half hour intimate set is a separate prgramme the following Thursday from reading that? Says it from the headline act each week, little strange Noel isn't the headline act for that week's show? I suspect if Manic Street Preachers are the same episode as Will they are likely to be that week's 'headline act'? and Will is only doing the discussion perhaps?
