Well here we are with the second edition of the Roundtable. Despite over 200 views, there were only 2 sets of votes resulting in Fujiya & Miyagi winning the inaugural edition.

Hopefully people will find the music this time to be a bit more diverse so here we go again and hopefully you'll find something you like.

1. Lisa Hannigan - Knots

First up this time is the Mercury nominated folkie up with a particularly jaunty number. After years touring with Damien Rice she struck out on her own in 2009 and now has her second album ready for release, of which Knots is the first song to be released off it.

2. The Coathangers - Trailer Park Boneyard

Apparently The Coathangers have been around for a while but they caught my attention with the video for Hurricane. Recently released was the this video and I am absolutely loving this at the moment.

3. Highlighter - Mean Spirited

I know virtually nothing about hip-hop and even less about this lot but with the recent Nevermind now being 20 years old (Jesus, where did the time go?) I thought I'd throw this into the mix.

4. Psychic Ills - Mind Daze

Hazy lazy psyche from this New York band. Loving this after the first listen.

5. Esben and the Witch - Hexagons II

The goths are back with a new EP and this is the lead track although I don't think they'll ever release anything to match Marching Song, this is interesting enough to warrant a listen.

So hopefully a little bit more diverse and this time we'll have more comments and rates (out of ten)

My brief critique..

1. Lisa Hannigan

With it's happy video and feel good tune this is a welcome return for Lisa. I enjoyed her last album and will look forward to hearing the new one.

7/10

2. The Coathangers

On first glance at the girls I really wanted to hate it as they look to affected. However musically I quite liked it. Nice guitar riff, good wispy girl vocal and overall a good pop tune.

6.5/10

3. Highlighter

Hmmm, what to say - is this good or not?.... I don't know and I don't care.... Basically it's the teen spirit music with a guy rapping over the top - but nice rapping I think!

5/10

4. Psychic Ills

Sounding like Primal Scream, this is a lovely find. I can see myself driving, with the top down, sun blazing and this blasting out of the stereo.

8/10

5. Esben & The Witch

I like Esben but this is doing nothing for me - Pleasant breakdown and finish to the track but it's too late - already bored.... Sounds very like a FLorence record, which should not really be encouraged.

6/10
