The song Feel Like I Feel actually reminds me of Gary's Twelve Months album, which was an excellent album, miles better than the first give or take a couple of singles i.e. Forever Love/Open Road

I always believed in Gary's second album and I enjoy 12 months 11 days alot more than Open Road. That said Open Road is a good album, sometimes i do think it is a huge shame how 12 months 11 days flopped so badly. That said, had this not happened we may not have the Gary we have and love today and we may not have Take That either.

If Gary had his time again, and all the material from the 2 solo albums, i wonder what songs he would now choose from both sets to make just 1 album?

ooo, that's an interesting question..

well seeing as he regularly performs Forever Love and Open Road during his solo concerts id say they would be a safe bet. Not sure about the rest though. I remember reading that he was very happy with Lie To Me when he wrote it..

I only recently discovered that So Help Me Girl was a cover version which totally surprised me as i had believed it was written by Gary himself.

Yeah that was a originally a song for Joe Diffie, an American country artist. Gary's version did better on the US Billboard and charted in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Germany to name a few.
I just researched your post and i would believe it is fair to say Gary did the superior version. In fact, so help me girl is one of my favourite solo songs by Gary and i can clearly remember how shocked i was when it missed out on a Top 10 position especially as his previous 2 releases had hit pole position.

Yeah, its funny how people branded it a flop but it just missed out on the top 10 and was the first song after the album had been released. Plus he was in America pushing it over there so there wasnt any proper promo over here. He did do it on the Royal Variety though, i think the footage is on youtube somewhere.

01. Puff Daddy And Faith Evans - I'll Be Missing You

02. Oasis - D'You Know What I Mean?

03. Gala - Freed From Desire

04. Coolio - C U When U Get There ft 40 Thevz

05. Ultra Nate - Free

06. Sash! - Ecuador

07. The Seahorses - Blinded By The Sun

08. Robbie Williams - Lazy Days

09. Michael Jackson - History/Ghosts

10. Changing Faces - GHETTOUT

11. Gary Barlow - So Help Me Girl

Correct Aphrodite, i researched this and the above was the chart on the week so help me girl made its chart debut, those highlighted in red are new entries.

While Robbie charted higher id understand that Gary sold more in the end just based on the chart runs.

So help me girl 11.30.44.48.57.64.64 out Re Entry 64.72.65.71 =a total of 11 weeks.

Lazy Days 8.27.38.45.64 = a total of 5 weeks.

It must also be noted that neither songs performed particularly spectacular.

The word is that Mark will be releasing solo material very soon.

Very suprised by this announcement as he has had no luck before and I cant see anything changing this time around. He hasnt got the voice of Gary or the persona of Robbie, but in TT his voice and presence fits well with the others. I think it's a big mistake by Mark personally and he could end up risking the Take That fanbase by isolating many with uncertainty and bewilderment.

Gary has said he wont be doing a solo album for a long time and so has played a couple of one off concerts to raise money for charity . Mark is looking at releasing an album of material which will take up his time and possibly signal a prolonged break for the band. Its a shame really. There are loads of upcoming artists in the charts and I cant see a 40 year old Mark who couldnt make it 15 years ago offering anything as a solo act. If he really wants to release a solo album then I just hope it doesnt fall flat on its face and tarnish TT and become the 'they cant make it as solo artists' scenario again.

If it is true about Mark - I actually have a lot of admiration for him doing it. So what if he'll only be doing it for the fans of his work (and for his own sanity/self-fulfilment) it doesn't matter if it doesn't set the charts alight. I don't see why its acceptable for Gary to do his own thing without worrying what it does to the reputation of TT (and a lot of it I've found worrying) and at the same time worry what impact anything Mark does has on the group. Besides - at least (if true) he's got the balls to risk his reputation without masking it behind a charity screen. I'm really not too sure how successful Gary's recent outings would be if he hadn't announced that they were 'all for charity'.

Good luck Mark!

Tarnish TT? Only for brainless fans , who judges only in chart position and like only those who have success and for those taking their musical knowlege and opinion from TheSun and Daily Mail.

The real quality music is not done to be No 1 in chart. If that comes is an added bonus, but is not the main idea.

Mark started the project TT2 saying from the beginning he will continue with his solo work. I really don't care what Gary does and his kissing the ass of Simon has done more damage to me liking TT, as any chart flop would do. I would have preffered 100 more times that Gary would do music, real good music, than all this X-factor.

I am sure Mark knows he will not have succes, his style is not for the masses. He has his niche, he is happy about it and that should be real music about. About being with your heart in it, truthfull to it. He has not made a bond for his life and after his life with TT to be worried on tarnishing the mighty, great, extraordinary TT legacy. Let me laugh here! Take a look at the chart positions in UK of Leonard Cohen, one of the great contemporan songwriter . Do you think he fall flat? That he tarnished something?

I agree Mark has always said he would continue with his solo work when take that returned. I dont think no matter how big or how small marks album sells it wont have any effect on take that. Marks solo music has always been very different from take that and his fans know that and so would some of the take that fans. Of course there are some take that fans(of now) who dont know of any of marks solo music and they might actually look up his solo stuff now on the back of. Im a sense im glad he is doing it as marks solo career to me always came accross as something he was doing for himself and sales were just a bonus. Like Gary the only thing i dont like about solo stuff is it slows down the process of take that releasing new amterial, with gary havinga new baby on the way, x factor and the jubilee concert and mark now doing a solo album i really dont think we will get a new take that album this year so it will probably be 2013 before its released but im actually looking forward to hearing marks solo stuff aswell, i have liked some of past solo material, it hanst set my world a light or anything but i have enjoyed it all the same.
I am sure that apart in what projects Gary or Mark are involved, TT would not release this year an album. This would go head to head with Robbie's album and i am pretty sure all want to avoid it.

That's true, I did hope we might get a TT album this year but I guess its not to be. We'll have to see how this plays out re. Mark solo material. Not sure where the sound will go as he won't want a TT sound, so possibly (hopefully) along the 4 minute warning line which i really enjoyed. Either way if Mark does do this then it'll be a good year or more before any TT stuff is put in progress (excuse the pun) if he does a few gigs and promotes singles etc. I'll sit on the fence here and see what happens.

If anyone hasn't seen the link, here it is :)

Marks solo sound has varied, personnelly i would love new material along the lines of child, clemetine and four minute warning as they were 3 tracks i still enjoy especially child, i really love that song especially the last minute and a half of the song.

I hope for something in the line of How the mighty fall. This album is one of the few i enjoy every song on it. That was done for me only by Cat Stevens before. I hope he will use some ideas from the orchestration of his songs on The Circus, i adore the choose of the instruments there. And i hope he takes once again the producer from HTMF. True, there is totally another feeling than on TT albums, his solo songs are seldom for stadions, but more for intimate small gigs.

Aside of this article, and while the Sun seems to be very well informed about TT, i don't think too much he will go solo with an entire album. He has not even an internet presence, no facebook, no twitter, no webside. That doesn't scream to me " i am here!". But we will live and see.
