Yeah true, I mean if it was any other random source or journalist i would be sceptical as to its authenticity but Gordon Smart has broken many TT exclusives and is good friends with the band and Gary/Robbie in particular so I think its probably true.

Unless he just puts music out there on a website etc as free downloads? Im sure that the fella from Blue, is it Lee?

Ya the free songs through a web site etc maybe more viable, now he is married with kids he may be less inclient to spend money on something that may not net a return, and will want his take that fortune kept safe and sound.
Should the story be fully correct, I am sure Mark will take a road that is best suited to him and record music he believes is right for him to record and the decide on the correct channel to deliver it. Marks solo music is mix and match for me, for every 1 song I do like there is also 1 i do not like.

That's the thing! People know that Gary has selling power, and that he can write excellent songs and sell out and create tours/concerts

What a difference looking at his discography now to a month ago  or even before you add Shame in there, he's added to his discography very strongly

I agree Stacey, he can sell solo material, proven with Sing/Shame etc but TT is where he is loved and produces his best work. Saying that, I have no problem with him releasing material, I could see him featuring in a couple of songs in the future singing the chorus for example. Rumour on twitter is that the Gary and Cheryl duet will be released at some point. The original has gone top 20 already after they performed it

Personnely i hope the Cheryl duet isnt released as it was awful ( Cheryl crucified it). I do like solo Gary myself and always have done and have always supported it too, however, as i said before, if he does solo work it should be a side project to Take That like he is doing now. Gary shines at best in Take That, and without Take That solo Gary would have never emerged as his name before Take That reformed was not strong enough to stand on his own. Id love occasional solo work like we are getting but not at the cost of Take That.

Yes his discography looks so so much better now than a month ago and will look even better this time next week.

The platform is there for Gary to develop a solo career. His discogrpahy has clearly improved with the addition of shame and sing, and with sing also topping the album chart it indeed looks great. For those who dont follow the ins and outs of charts but like to know positions this indeed looks great after his last solo effort stalled at number 35. I agree totally with ye guys, solo Gary is great and i would like more of it but not if it takes anything away from Take That.

I honestly don't think Gary cuts it as a solo artist though. Don't get me wrong - as part of Take That he is terrific - but solo I do find him boring. I bought the album 11 Months (etc) and the only song I like on it is Lie To Me. When I've looked at some old solo footage of him he looks and sounds so very dated.

Still - if it makes him happy. He'd better be prepared though for any album to sell in very, very modest numbers.

At last, some sense! :)

He does lack the sparkle when going solo, while i enjoy the music i dont think he shines as strong on his own which is why i think all his solo work will be done as a sideline to take that rather than going directly for a solo career.

Bottom line is that he's had 2 number 1 albums, 3 number 1 singles, 4 further top 20 singles and a top 45 song in America along with successful chart placings across Europe and Australia

That's an impressive and respectable solo career for anyone

It is but we cant neglect the fact that every success he has had so he has failures, we cant deny how badly 12 months did and also some of the singles, coming from a huge boy band and the hype that was around it was a disappointing outcome. Then again we can look it from another point of view, not many boyband members manage a career at al so in that respect he has done ok.

Yeah or you could say as most would agree that the media ended his solo career really, giving robbie fuel to spread the flames that fill papers and ridiculing gary for whatever reason unrelated to music. 12 months was a good album though

12 months for me is a great album and i will always defend it, i do agree the press finished Gary that time it was awful and i still remember it, all i can say is fair play to him for coming back as it takes alot to come back from something like that.

The dvd is still hanging around for Gary which is good, it drops just 4 places to number 21 this week.

Yeah you're right it does. Great news about the DVD still, I wonder how many copies on her majesty's service has sold so far

It is a great boost for him that the dvd has done well for him, likewise the whole sing era done well for him. I do wonder is he working on a brand new full studio album or will he just continue to do solo one offs every now and again, i do suspect we will see another charity record coming from him.

For now please work on a new Take That album.

I'm definitely getting a strong feeling that Gary is doing another solo album. He's been tweeting a lot about being in the studio recently and when someone asked him the other day if he was doing one, he only replied with a kiss. I've never really been that keen on his solo stuff though, so I can't say I would be that excited if he is doing one. I guess it fills the gap where the Take That album was meant to be.

I just hope that if he does do one, him and Mark have similar successes. I don't really want to see Mark's album being a total flop and Gary's getting number 1. and I think it's more likely to be that way around than Mark's doing well/Gary's not.

While that outcome is the most likely we must also not forget 12 months 11 days spectacular flop, that said Gary was at a career all time low then and is the opposite now. I do like Gary's solo material and i have no problem with a new solo album, in fact i would embrace it to fill the gap between Take That albums but i dont want a solo album to come at the cost of Take That and i make that point to all the members. I think we know its a definite now that the new Take That album is at least a year and a half away so for now i would love Mark to achieve his most successful album to date with his new album and likewise with Gary if he does release a solo album.

I cant help but think it is Gary and Mark wanting time out from Take That as i dont think Jason or Howard would have wanted it as much, i could be highly wrong in making that comment but it what i think.
