I AGREE, a solo gary album could do well but will in no way reach the levels of take that sales. Im still not fully believing the solo stuff yet though as i believe take that are starting work on a new album so where he will fit it all in i dont know.

i agree completely that gary wont match the TT stuff but in all fairness robbie can't match TT these days either and thats with the likes of germany and most of europe in love with him. i still think gary would easily go double platinum over here, he's already got 600k followers on twitter and he hasnt even been on it a full month yet! plus there are alot of TT fans who love gary and would buy his record as a sort of stop gap between the TT album.

I am looking forward to album 7 of TT though, but i do wonder whether it will match the amazing success of BW, Circus and Progress

I think if the new take that studio album ha sthe right material it can do almost as good as the other album ie sell around 2 million copies, but with the way things are looking it will be at lesat this time next year until it arrives or even longer, still we have the live album to fill the gap which im interested to see how it sells, hopefully as much as the previous live album which done great.

Im not sure if twitter is a realistic comparison for sales, but again i think if gary does the solo album alot will depoend on the strength of the lead single, a strong lead single could his him rocket to the top of the charts again, a weak one and well,, we know what could happen.

Very true, I agree completely with that.

Im not too sure about the live album, something tells me that it wont do as well as Greatest Day. I have no idea how many it will sell first week or first day either but I do believe that most people will just buy the DVD. Now if the album had a third disc with a set of acoustic performances of Progress/ed then i would be confident, but as there isnt i think people will by and large go for the DVD copy. Hope im wrong though, would be great to get another number 1 album

Watched Gary on The One Show on Friday and Chris Evans asked him if he was going to do something and he said he's going to sing a song.

presumably that means a song on his own as Howard is DJing at the moment, Mark visiting family on the other side of the world and Jason is doing his own thing. Thing is, what song will he do? I was thinkinbg Greatest Day to open the show? or maybe Rule the World to finish it? Maybe even Never Forget as he has sung that a few times recently. Any thoughts?

If he does a song it will more than likely be back for good but i hope its either rule the world, never forget, or i would love gary to do the flood by himself. As for the live album, i agree the dvd is gona do far better than the album and the dvd will surely go straight to number 1. I think at worst though the live album should open sales with around 50,000 for the week.
Back for good would be my preference as it is a Take That song that is majorily Gary from start to finish.

Barlow said he is relishing a return to the stage, having spent the past few weeks behind The X Factor judging table.

He said during rehearsals for the show: 'I'm looking forward to it I really am.

'I'm always trying to remind myself that's actually what I do and I don't just sit behind a desk talking. So it's important to me to get back out there.'

The Take That star turned X Factor judge is due to sing with Cole at the Children In Need Rocks event in Manchester on Thursday, but may face a swift alteration to his performance.

Organisers of the event have been informed that Cole is suffering a bad throat and may pull out.

Barlow today joked about possible contingency plans adding: 'She's ill. We're waiting to hear.

'It's meant to be a surprise but that's the plan - if not, I don't know what we're going to do. I might just have to get on the piano and do a bit of Roll Out The Barrel.'

Wonder what they will sing? It's got to be a Gary/TT song, can't see Gary singing a Cheryl Cole song, if im being honest Cheryl can't sing Cheryl songs either

It also seems that Gary and Gaga are getting on quite well!

As if that weren’t enough to cope with [Cheryl Cole being ill], they’ve given Lady Gaga free rein to open the show. Gary said: “It’s gonna be amazing. Lady Gaga has pretty much flown in to do X Factor and this – she just wants to hang around with me!”

“She’ll be bringing something that will keep us all talking for a week, I’m sure. We’re all like: ‘You do what you want. Go for it!’”

I think Gary would be better suited to perform on his own, Cheryl Cole's voice is best suited to herself and not to be inflected on other more talented people.

I would prefer Gary to sing solo too!

He wasn't best pleased with her when I went to see the Saturday concert at LCCG in 2009! He actually used the 'f' word - I'd never heard him swear in public before that time (well not the 'f' word anyway).

Kath

I believe he had good reason to then, did she not let him down at the very last minute?

He did - and at the time I was cursing her as well - but from what I've read since - I do believe she was genuine in her reasons for backing out.

Mind you - when we went the following day (yes I know I seem scathing at times - but I have actually spent a fortune on TT concerts) we were rewarded with The Script - so was sort of happy all around (also - I met Gary Go outside and had a few piccies taken with him!)

I had The Script as well at Wembley! They were fantastic i thought. Dont know what happened to Gary Go though...

its official now that Cheryl Cole has some throat infection so this duet with her and Gary wont happen. Looks like we are getting Gary singing alone then! Much prefer that, hope he closes with RTW, perfect ending.

To be honest - I think Cheryl comes in for a load of flak when she doesn't deserve it. I don't know too much about the 'toilet attendant' affair - but I think Cheryl has been punished enough (via forums) for this already. And - no matter what people say - her vocals aint that bad! I thought she acquitted herself quite well with her last CIN performance with Snow Patrol.

Kath

I dont love or hate cheryl, vocally she is ok (we have much better and much worse than her) she did a good job with the snow patrol duet but im not the biggest fan of that because i adore the song and martha wainrights vocal so it was always hard for me to be pleased anyhow.

Im happy with gary to perform solo as i havnt seen him perform solo in years.

Ya The Script were a good replacement for Lady Gaga, and had i been there i wouldnt have been disapointed to see the script at all, but as mentioned i think it was for genuine reasons that gaga pulled out which is understandable,.

Just looking around for information on the Gary Barlow concert last night, and apparently it was very well received by fans and the critics. His setlist was very strong with a nice couple of suprises in there (wasting my time!!) Rumour is that he was supposed to sing back for good with marcus but he had to pull out last night but should be fit to sing this evening.

1."Greatest Day"

2."Reach Out"

3."Open Road"

4."A Million Love Songs"

5."Pray"

6."Nobody Else"

7.Big Band Medley (feat. Under My Skin, Fly Me To The Moon, Moon Dance)

8."I'd Wait for Life"

9."Love Ain't Here Anymore"

10."Lie To Me"

11."Why Can't I Wake Up With You"

12."Forever Love"

13."Could It Be Magic"

14."Sunday to Saturday"

15."Wasting My Time"

16."Everything Changes"

17."Relight My Fire"

18."Patience"

19."Too Many Broken Hearts" with Jason Donovan

20."Back For Good"

21."Shine" with Olly Murs

22."Rule the World"

23."Never Forget"

Some of Gary's banter is also quite funny, check this out:

He talks about Take That's early days adding: "Then Robbie left. Then we split up. Then I released [1997 solo album] Open Road.

"Then I released [1999 flop album] Twelve Months, Eleven Days and it was so successful that I decided to have seven years off."

AND

Barlow, who splits his time between the piano and standing out front, gives confident performances in a trio of big band numbers - Under My Skin, Fly Me to the Moon and Van Morrison's Moon Dance.

Had not Williams beaten him to it with 2001 album Swing When You're Winning - complete with memorable Royal Albert Hall performance - Barlow might have found a niche here.

"This is from my new album Swing When You're Thinning," Barlow jokes.

Nobody Else is fast becoming one of my favourite Gary songs now, it was performed fantastically last night, really is a powerful song
