I am very weiry and hesitant of a covers album and I believe for someone who has a reputation as a songwriter releasing a covers album would get him totally ridiculed by the press and further afield.

I agree im not fully sure if gary is yet fully equipped to be accepted solo wise, there is a chance a covers album in the right market ie christmas etc might do well for him but they would want to be good covers, personnaly i wouldnt be a huge fanb of covers album and would rather an album of new material, but i wont deny i would like gary to have solo success again providing its a side project to take that.

Thats the problem I think TT will take a back seat this year so Roobie can do his thing, If Gary does do XFactor this year, that takes up four months of his time and we saw how much time it took up this year. He has the Queen 2 events this year so where does that leave time for the guys to get together and write an album this year? I don't want to be a mood killer but I don't see them even starting to write a new album until spring 2013. Gary's fame have evolved over the past year very quickly (both good and bad) and I now think it's down to when he has time from his solo projects to make time for TT stuff. I think for us to get TT stuff sooner he would have to drop XFactor but I think his is enjoying the attention from it too much (twitter) to give it up yet. I do find it funny in a interview back in Novemeber he revealed that the guys think he's a rubbish judge and needs to get back into the studio.

Just my opinion and I hope I'm wrong about it all. xx

I see the direction of your opinion and in an overall sense I agree with you, also for Take That to deliver new material Gary needs more free time.

Yep and I think on top of that he is meant to be working on music for Marcus and finding him a record label. I think the more things that are offered to him the harder he will find it to say no.

Gary knows TT is his priority. He was probably already writing with Marcus during the live shows anyways. The album wont take too long to write. Im guessing that groundwork has already been done as im sure Mark has been ploughing away at a new sound.

We will see new material this year, dont worry.

Im sure howard, mark and jason will have some writing done to and not to mention other song writers and producers they also work with.

Nah I dont think so, Marcus is signed to a branch of Universal but Gary will still probably have a controlling influence.

Plus he has unfollowed Frankie and Craig on twitter

X Factor runner-up Marcus Collins has revealed his debut album is already taking shape.

Though it is not known if he has landed a record deal, the Liverpudlian ex-hairdresser has said he's been working on original material with mentor Gary Barlow.

Speaking on Lorraine, he said: "I'm really excited, I'm working really hard.

"The music is really coming together. I've found my niche now, I've found exactly what it is that I want to do and it's looking good."

I don't think he can sign with any label until after the X Factor tour as Syco get first refusal of all the top 4, to my knowledge.

With Gary head judge maybe that rule was altered seeing Gary also has a label?

No, they are contractually obliged to do the XF tour after they signed the deal back in November, but that does not mean that they cant be writing music and working with label bosses while on tour. Syco do get first refusal but by January at the latest they will have decided. I heard that Gary wanted Marcus set up with Universal cos of the way male contestants dont do that well in general, im sure Gary has sorted him with the right people

With Marcus starting of his career with a cover version says alot about how much thought is going into the project, covering a song like seven nation army in my opinion is out of Marcus;s league. With X Factor suffering a ratings drop this year i thought more effort would go into forthcoming material by the finalists but in my opinion it looks like X Factor 2011 is one the years the shows bosses will want to move on from very quickly.
Ya i dont think the song will suit Marcus at all and see it as a lazy release, on saying that i dont and i never liekd marcus do wouldnt be to bothered to see him flop.

It is a strange release but I suppose he is trying to capitalise on the XF bandwagon. Apparently Gary is executive producer or something on the album, which is interesting as it does not mention him writing songs for him.

To be honest I see Gary's involvement in Marcus' solo career as Gary basically calling up one or two of his contacts, getting him on the right label with the right people around him and then letting him crack on alone. Then when the album is finished Gary will probably have a listen through it and possibly suggest areas where the production can be tightened up and that will be it.

Im sure Gary has enough to do this year with rumours floating around that he and Louis have already signed up for XF series 9 and obviously getting quality material written for hopefully TT studio album 7 will be top of his list along with a new tour in 2013

Marcus cover of SNA is a different version, its a version done by Bruno Mars

INTERESTING NEWS provided by Gary himself in a question and answer session on his twitter account.

Here are some of the questions that stood out for me along with the answers:

@Debzturner1: @GBarlowOfficial Will you make a solo album soon? x” I think about it a lot, but it won't be soon

“@MoDFahy:will you be doing any more solo gigs this year? #pleaseinliverpool.... The cavern is calling you z” I will, not the cavern tho

“@GLBlovesit: @GBarlowOfficial what does 2012 have in hold for Mr Barlow? lots of stuff I can't wait to share with you all

So what does everyone think about that! Clearly there is big stuff in the pipeline for Gary just wonder what it all is...

And for the first time he has actually said he would like to do a solo album again...

Im actually surprised in some ways he would do a solo album, but am happy at the same time as i said i loved his solo albums especially 12 months 11 days. All i can say though is i hope the same istakes arent not made as in gary thinking he is bigger than take that or anything without take that, as i said before if he does this as a side project it could do well, if he was to leave take that i could see a repeat of what happened before happening.
Gary is in talks to return to the x factor this year with a pay rise. According to the Daily Mail.
I think all the judges want to return, if take that are doing stuff though gary will be busy as take that always release their albums mid to end november and promote it after which would be almost at the peak of x factor so if both happen he will be a bust man, prferably i would prefer him toconcentrate on take that but if he can do both its all good and well.
