I would argue this point, I would agree it will sell but take not from shame that nothing is a guarantee.

Looking back at the precedent for these types of songs they all seem to do well i.e ellie goulding and that song 'wherever you will go', so lets keep an open mind and see what happens
Looking at it from point of view would indicate the signs are looking positive for another solo Gary Barlow hit, I would be pleased for Gary should it happen.

Yeah me too! Main thing is Gary isnt bigging it up like he is going solo again, it seems to me like its much more of a 'why not?' thing.

TT have a year off and they have been doing what they like to do in their time off.

Howard is Dj-ing, Jay is travelling, Robbie is doing a solo album and Mark is spending time with the family (especially with his drinking problem happening right in the build up to progress when he wouldnt have actually had much free time in his calendar to spend with the kids and the mrs.)

Then Gary is doing a couple of solo gigs for Princes Trust, organising CiN Rocks, sorting out the Queens concert and searching the Commonwealth for a star(s) to sing on a song he is writing with Andrew Lloyd Webber. Everything he is doing is for someone elses benefit whether thats charity, fans or royalty!

His passion is music and being involved in music so good luck to him. I bet he just doesnt like the thought of not being in music for an extended period of time again after those dark 5 or so years and who could blame him

I think all the work gary is doing is also helping test the water aswell, i dont mean in a way that he wants to leave take that but im sure he wants to see can he pull solo success inbetween take that if u know what i mean.

I thought that originally, but he said that he has no plans to make a solo album, his 2 solo gigs were organised by Princes Trust, and he headlined Radio 2 in Hyde Park when he got a phone call on the actual day saying Lionel Ritchie couldnt make it.

I just think Gary loves music and now that he has the freedom, fame and respect of the industry he is trying to try other areas of the music business i.e. XFactor, founding his own label, etc but he knows that TT are a unit and they arent nearly as successful as solo artists. Even RObbie isnt as successful as TT now, TT outsold his last 2 albums (3 if you only include the UK) and their singles have outsold Rob's. Even their Greatest Day Live album has taken the spot of most successful live album from him

TT are a force when together but apart they may have a couple of hits but it pales in comparison

Is that definite about Take Thats Live album outselling Robbie's Live at Knebworth? I do not mean that in a questioning manner, I have a very vague memory and I am not sure how correct it is that Knebworth sold 800,000. Iknow The Circus Live has sold near to 600,000 units. To be frank, I would be delighted for The Circus to overtake Knebworth in sales units.

Without doubt I agree Take That as a collective are a force and seperatly the force is not as strong. That said, until a few years ago Robbie was a huge force to be reckoned with in terms if sales, everything he touched just turned to gold where that force has weakened in the last few years. Completly seperate but as Take That returned Robbie started to dwain and out of nowhere in a sense Take That became massive. I know Take Thats albums have outsold Robbies most recent in the UK market but does stand in terms of European sales aswell?

Sorry Ive got my wires crossed here, Greatest Day took the fastest selling live album record from Robbie's Knebworth. Im not certain with Knebworths totals. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a19...lbum-sales.html

BW has sold nearly nearly 2.9million in the UK, and has shipped over 3 million inside Europe. Sales in Germany are around 350k according to German Take That forums. RKTVS sold about 2 million worldwide with a large chunk coming from Germany (400k)and the UK (3x platinum).

Rudebox (looking at countries certifications website sourced on wikipedia) it is looking at just 1.3 million! didnt think it was that bad actually! Circus obviously is 2.2million (uk) and 120k (ireland) so make of that what you will.

Intensive Care has outsold BW Circus and Progress as you would imagine. Apparently it sold 1million copies in Mexico 2x Diamond! Thats a shocker ... http://www.amprofon.com.mx/certificaciones...ontenido=buscar

Im delighted with those statistics, and they are very well summarised so thank you for the information.
I tink in a total sales robbies live album may have sold more but i am not fully sure either. While take that sell very well in the UK and their last few albums would have higher UK sales than robbie. Robbie though would have bigger european sales and has the advantage in that way.
Robbies European sales would have dived considerably with his last few releases, without shadow of a doubt he is not the big name he once was.

Robbie's sales have definately dived in Europe if you compare the worldwide sales of Intensive Care which are 6.2million http://www.undercover.fm/news/1275-emi-sha...re-announcement to the sales of Rudebox and RKTVS. He seems to generally attract a big fan base in Germany where he frequently sells 500k+ but elsewhere in Europe and the Americas his sales are down. Possibly because his music hasnt been the same since Guy Chambers left or because he hasnt toured properly in 6/7 years. Im very interested to hear his new album though. He says that it will return him to the Escapology era and with a reportedly international star dueting with him on a track along with Gary and a new set of writers and producers working on the album the omens are good for him.
I guess time will tell, when it comes to music i never judge until i hear the actual material, escapeology for me was robbies strongest era although sin sin sin is one of my favourite robbie singles and that came from the rudebox album i think. Since Guy departed robbie hasnt done aswell but robbie is the type of guy who can surprise and bounce back so anything is possible.
While it is fair to say Robbies sales may decreased and his European fanbase likewise he has always remained successful. While he has suffered a dip in sales his albums always end up selling in decent numbers. It would be great if the new album takes him back to the escapeology days as that was when he was shining the most and the material was oh so strong.
I cant see the album flopping thats for sure, overall though opening sales i think will be hugely affected by the strength or the weakness of the lead single.

Has anyone heard the Gary Barlow penned Marcus Collins song 'Feel Like I Feel' yet?

It is not Garys best of worst composition, however, I just dont like Marcus Collins voice and it does not matter what song he sings I just dont like his voice, to me he always sound chessey and a somewhat sqeeky.
Havnt heard it yet but will give it a go. Im with you pippa i dont like marcus either and didnt enjoy him on x factor at all andi hate his version of 7 nation army aswell.
