I would forget to switch it off every time I used it though as shift is temporary and caps is lock on/off. This surely gives more finger strokes and takes longer?

More keystrokes all the same length takes a shorter time for me than less keystrokes but having to hold some down for longer. I still have to use shift to do stuff like colons and whatnot but I never use Shift for capitalisation.

Helps you concentrate harder in that case

Well, we could argue this all evening, but I won't. Request made, you are following it, so back on topic.

This could be the first year in ages that has no huge long staying #1 album in November/December then?

First year since 2004 I'd say. (2005 had Eminem's GH, 2006/08/10 all had TT albums, 2007 had Spirit and 2009 had SuBo).

I think Buble and Rihanna have the best chances really - though I can see the #1 changing hands a few times with SuBo/JLS etc in the mix as well.

I would still put my money on Buble (although TT should easily have their regular no1 week with the live album). I hope we can at least get rid of a SuBo no1. Looks like Olly has a shot as well.

I don't know about Rihanna... I am annoyed there is too much of her in the charts, radio etc, it's like everyone decided to release their duets with her now that she is hot. I definitely don't miss her and wouldn't be excited about a new album right now. She currently is somewhere between 'flaring fast' and 'extinguishing soon' imo. She should really take some time off.

And by the way Rihanna's last single was disappointing. Two possible reasons:

(a) the person writing the lyrics died half (not even) way through.

(b) the real song is only included the album and what we listened to was a teaser remixed by a random dj.

Erm, One Direction anyone? :P
I suppose so. Damn you Christmas, being on a Sunday ruins all the chart 'achievements'.

I wonder if that means The Pogues and Mariah will have a week at the lower half of trhe top 100 before dropping out then? So they'll slowly climb up for about 5 or 6 weeks as usual but then instead of dropping straight out they go 22-94-out or something.

I don't think so - as far as I can tell, people buy Xmas songs far more on Xmas Eve than on Xmas day.

i cant really see 1D being that much of a threat tbh. Im sure they have strong competition the week their album comes out anyways and their single will face even stronger competition so im not sure. they should pull their releases forward a week and make an interesting chart battle with jls and hopefully beat them

I was just thinking that, surely the number 1 stocking filler for girls under the age of 15 or so? They have got it tough going up against Rihanna though. I had kind of wrongly assumed that JLS' popularity was on the wane but then had the misfortune to be in Liverpool when this happened last week.

Bloody mental!
I'm with Jester and predict Buble to be No.1 on the Xmas Day chart, if not the week before too. If not, certainly No.2.
buble will do well, he will easily sell close to 2million,

cant see adele sales increasing to be honest. most people who were going to buy the album have got it and most people who werent going to buy it have got it as a gift over the year. not that she needs the sales anyways.

rihanna will be interesting. i dont think it will match her loud sales but it should sell a million over the Christmas period

Disagree with you on the two points I've quoted. Buble won't do anywhere near 2 million this year. I was scorned for predicting in another thread that he'll do a million this year but think that's easily achievable with two or three good 200k+ weeks in December.

Think Adele will be top 5 Christmas week with big sales, something like 250k+. There are still many people who don't have it remember!

Big first week No.1 but not Xmas week No.1.

BTW I don't think SuBo will be No.1 on her first week either.

On that logic, Bullet For My Valentine's last album could be Christmas #1.

People are forgetting Jai McDowell! Released a week before Christmas, off the back of his Royal Variety performance - I'd currently say he has the best chance of Christmas #1 album.

If Ronan Parke could only get to #22 I can't see Jai going anywhere near #1, RVS or not.

I'd say Adele will do well out of the Christmas music sales - but not enough to return to the #1 spot. Susan Boyle will no doubt stick around inside the T10, as will Michael Buble and Westlife. I don't see any HUGE contenders for the top spot, but albums released earlier in the year always seem to have a surge in sales (i.e. Paolo Nutini and Florence and the Machine both claimed the #1 spot at the beginning of 2010).

I'm hoping Rebecca Ferguson and Olly Murs can both sell well through the Christmas period - Murs surprised me last year by hanging around for such a lengthy period of time - eventually reaching 2 x Platinum.

Will Coldplay still pose as a threat for the #1 spot in the upcoming months. I imagine they'll be in the T10 for a while, as will Florence and the Machine.

Was there any promotion for Ronan Parke's album?

Well, I think he had a music video for his cover of 'A Thousand Miles' which was getting some airplay for a few weeks prior to the album release. But even without promo #22 is poor and I would predict Jai to get to around #4 or so at the very best.

Was there any promotion for Ronan Parke's album?

I saw him on BBC Breakfast and saw an advert for him appearing on Alan Titchmarsh. He was also on sky news.

Sorry if i sound nit picky but 'Rihanna Loud' sold 839,603 last year so if she sells a million during the christmas period it would do better than 'Loud'. I'm not sure if Rihanna will be able to keep sales that high during christmas week this time as she's obviously not going to get the amount of xfactor performances she got last time and i doubt she will promote as much as she did for 'Loud. I think it depends on if one of the contenders gets the Xfactor final slot they are almost certain to get the christmas number 1.
