This came close to debuting at no. 1 but then I heard 'We Found Love' again and it sealed it's fate. However, this week it's been all about 'Lego House' which is officially Ed Sheeran's first #1 in my chart. In terms of YTD points it's got a long way to go before it overtakes 'The A Team' which despite peaking at no. 2 has without doubt been another of my big hits of 2011.

I would absolutely love to see this do well in early 2012. I reckon Gotye will most likely appear on the BBC Sound of 2012 poll. Maybe Kimbra will appear too. They might consider pushing both acts into the UK limelight next year. :o

 

24 (--) Cher Lloyd feat. Mike Posner - With Ur Love (24) [1 wk] I preferred Swagger Jagger in all honesty, probably the only one!

 

I think I mentioned this at the time. Had I charted 'Swagger Jagger' off the back of that first week when the track premiered, it probably would've gone low top 10. It's just the more I heard it, the less I liked it. So by the time it finally got released I was on th verge of boredom with the song hence why it has a chart run of 27-OUT for me. :lol: 'With Ur Love' might lack that novelty element but because of that, it's not got boring as quickly but yet I'd say I liked this less than 'Swagger Jagger' on first listen. A case of this not getting as boring as fast so just about managed a higher peak. Interesting that it made #4 on 74k - it's already outsold 'Swagger Jagger' first week sales of 66k to bag the UK #1 spot. :o

 

28 (16) Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All (10-16-28) [3 wks] Shame this is falling so quickly, I really love it now :o

 

When I first heard this, I was disappointed. I liked it a lot but couldn't help but compare it to 'Just The Way You Are' because it's a blatant rip off of the song. That's why this hasn't had the staying power in my chart. I always find it uninspiring when there's a massive hit, then there's other artists trying to recreate it and claim their own glory. It doesn't work with me I'm afraid. :( We could take this to the extremes and add JLS 'Take A Chance On Me' to the equation. That's another song when I've listened to it, all I can hear is 'Just The Way You Are' but in this case, the JLS single really is shite!!! :lol: Safe to say, JLS won't be entering my chart next weekend.

I think 'The A Team' is likely to be regarded as his "most liked" single purely from its longevity since it first entered the UK charts. Obviously X Factor mainly has helped to continue selling the song thanks to several contestants performing the track. However, 'Lego House' just has that little bit of an edge for me and personally I prefer this song more.

Well, Emmon was never going to enter high up. It got 5 points (iirc) off me whilst I like it, there's clearly many other songs I like more. Nonetheless, this is still definitely good enough to make my top 20.

I wouldn't it's "so" much better. It's better but overall not that much. :P What is has done is given Cher Lloyd a second single that's outpeaked her debut. Rarely that happens as most of the time artists release, imo, their best single first but for Cher Lloyd her second single is that little bit more appealing.

I do like 'Sweet Love' but I guess in BJSC you can have too much of a good thing (ie; Romanian dance music) but this was easily one of the highlights from the previous contest. Still nothing comes even close to 'Sober' which I have a gut feeling will be the Agnes 'Release Me' of 2012 - get a April 2012 release and be a massive top 5 hit. Only time will tell...

The opening verse was really shaky though. A classic case of singing acapella but nothing being able to hear the music in your earpiece due to the loud cheering in the studio. That first few lines aside, once the strings crept in, the performance quickly got on track and by the chorus it was just genius. Kelly Rowland went "WOW" :o. So did the whole of the UK viewing public.

Who's the featured artist on 'Repeat'? To be honest it doesn't really surprise me. In the UK, it's all about the look rather than the music. I don't think Sia will ever appeal to UK teenagers. Even the excellent 'Clap Your Hands' from last year (and noted #1 in my chart :P ) wouldn't have appealed to the UK music buying public. Unless they got some young pretty girl to lip synch Sia's vocals. I noticed 'Without You' is now #4 on iTunes. It's been a real slow burner but looks like it might just make the official UK top 5 after all. :o

I do like 'Sweet Love' but I guess in BJSC you can have too much of a good thing (ie; Romanian dance music) but this was easily one of the highlights from the previous contest. Still nothing comes even close to 'Sober' which I have a gut feeling will be the Agnes 'Release Me' of 2012 - get a April 2012 release and be a massive top 5 hit. Only time will tell...

The opening verse was really shaky though. A classic case of singing acapella but nothing being able to hear the music in your earpiece due to the loud cheering in the studio. That first few lines aside, once the strings crept in, the performance quickly got on track and by the chorus it was just genius. Kelly Rowland went "WOW" :o. So did the whole of the UK viewing public.

Who's the featured artist on 'Repeat'? To be honest it doesn't really surprise me. In the UK, it's all about the look rather than the music. I don't think Sia will ever appeal to UK teenagers. Even the excellent 'Clap Your Hands' from last year (and noted #1 in my chart :P ) wouldn't have appealed to the UK music buying public. Unless they got some young pretty girl to lip synch Sia's vocals. I noticed 'Without You' is now #4 on iTunes. It's been a real slow burner but looks like it might just make the official UK top 5 after all. :o

'ETIAW' actually got a higher peak than 'Paradise' in my chart (peaked at #2) but where that song slowly slipped down week-on-week, 'Paradise' actually climbed steadily for a few weeks. I'm not sure which song I prefer more at the moment - both appeal to me in different ways but this track could end up being the bigger hit in my chart in the long run.

No!!! :lol: I was referrring to Loreen. You can never tell what the next massive UK hit is going to be. Towards the end of the year it's usually more predictable to correctly guess the new #1s or at least the weeks highest new entry. By March, it's a lot less predictable and I like surprising no. 1 hits that show their worth by holding at the top for a couple of weeks - especially if said song is a track I really like. :P I don't think 'Sweet Love' will even get a UK release. As much as I like it, it doesn't have much of an itentity - it could easily be Edward Maya or Inna.

I watched Florence's X Factor performance back on YouTube and actually that opening verse wasn't that bad. Yes, it wasn't pitch perfect but it sounded better listening back than it seemed to sound live on the night. :P However, the song has really gone up in my "most played". I reckon 'Shake It Off' will achieve a new peak in my chart this weekend. :o

Oh, I never regret my BJSC entries. Even the flops like Andre Ola. Yes, it was the most unrepresentative of Batidas and my own personal music tastes. However, something made me choose that song so I have to accept my choices won't always please the majority. I do hope I can eventually make a stunning BJSC comeback. I'm thinking of entering Diana Vickers next...

Oh!!! :( Well, it could be worse. It could be Ellie Goulding. :lol: When I think of Jessie J, I think of how inconsistant her singles have been. I still think 'Price Tag' is a brilliant track but other than that 'Nobody's Perfect' was the next closest to a song I liked - and I can't say it's a brilliant song because imo it's great (which is not brilliant :lol: ). I've not been impressed with any of her other singles. Her latest single doesn't appeal to me at all. Neither does the new James Morrison track. If people thought I was easily pleased when it came to music, they'd be very much mistaken.

The success of 'Moves Like Jagger' has been so phenomenal, I don't know if any other track from their latest album will be anywhere near as successful. Not even just to enter high first week and plummet. Will be interesting to see what the record lable decide to release next.
