Agree with you 100%. The gay scene turns you into a lonely, bitter individual because you get nothing but knockbacks throughout the years whenever the prospect of a serious relationship crops up because all the queens are bothered with is sex. 'Been there, banged that - no need for follow up'.

The Aaron storyline has just been beautiful from its conception and the fact it has a truly talented actor behind it, makes me feel as if the soaps finally have a REAL gay character and not some stereotype. We're not all shallow, sex hungry fiends and maybe his idea of finding someone who 'understands him' is not in line with the usual M.O of the gay scene. I see it as him being human.

have i missed something here? russ was saying the gay scene IS that shallow, you agree but then contradict that bit with the emboldend bit

probably me misunderstanding summut.

course i havnt m8, im straight! are you really telling me that all gay people are really that shallow? forgive me if im wrong here but i was under the impression that theres as much variety of personality amongst gay people as there are in straight life.. we aint all neaderthals!

Rob.... so because you're straightyou've never been to a gay bar? Whaaaat?!?! Seriously? My God...... I have oodles of straight mates who have a far more entertaining time in gay bars and clubs than they ever do in straight ones..... and always seem to have more luck with the ladies, too. Yikes, Rob.... :o

And to a degree, yes, the gay scene IS that shallow.... it's very faddy, cosmetic, clique-y and promiscuos.... but.... can still, depending on where you go, be one of the best nights you'll ever have.

Not all gay people are 'scenesters' though.... you tend to fnd the nicer ones don't bother with the scene at all..... my point with Aaron is that I've seen loads of lads exactly like him over the years.... and the gay scene changes them. For the worse, usually.

its more to do with the fact that when i was young, there were no 'gay bars' as such.. ive never been big on boozy nights out (due to the smoke! :P ) or clubs cos when i was young clubs were either disco or rock. neither being my first choice in music (although i did go to rock venues). i did go to gay freindly pubs/bars but that was before they were apparently what they are like now. im not promiscuous, so 'pulling' has never been my aim, sex being second to a relationship.

No I did contradict myself. I agree 100% with what Russ said but then I also wanted to point out that just because the scene is that way - not every gay man is. I'm not for one and that's why I encourage this storyline. Sorry for my shoddy writing yesterday. Tiredness does not bode well for my creative output.

no probs dude, im doing that all the time! :)

Pauline Quirke?

Epicness.

Noooooooooooooooooo! - I can't stand her! :puke2:

isnt nathan great?... the smile of a reptile, smarmy as fook, gotta get his arse kicked and face thumped! but a great character!

im sure declan will not lose to that creep!

Nathan is losing some his spark for me. Making these empty threats day-in, day-out is getting a little boring. He needs to amp up the psycho-ometer a little.

oh he will... gradually... and thats what makes him such a good character.

dunno where he will go from there though once hes 'outed'. unlike the brilliant j r ewing in 'dallas' i fear nathans a one trick pony that only has one dimension. when thats spent its either a 'bobby ewing coming out the shower' (oh go look it up, biggest daft storyline ever in which a central character was re-admitted to a soap after previously being killed!)... or a termination of that character.

That girl who's after Andy really annoys me, talk about coming across as desperate

I knowwww. She's such a terrible non-character as well, I don't even know her name.

the token black girl...

yeah i cannot see the need for that 'talking extra'.

She is rather rubbish, reminds me of the Ex-Corrie/Dancing On Ice/Waterloo Road girl, i bet she's a relation.

Fantastic episode last night. Nice to finally see a proper storyline for Andy and unlike you lot I really quite like Adele.

Also loving Leyla of late (mouthing I. DON'T. CARE! across the room at Laurel) and I seriously think Tania needs to become a permanent character. What a VIXEN!

i dont agree... tania... cant see her fitting in. im sure she'll be gone soon.

I just hope Holly OD's on that ketamine because the poor girl acts like she's dead from the neck up anyway.... what a contrast - Adam's a brilliant actor and his on-screen sister.... appalling.

.... yeah, me n clare refer to her as 'the dope'. no on screen charisma at all, and the storyline was abit.... eh?...

i mean, how tf did she manage to see, identify, and pinch that phial of ketamine in front of andy, john and the vet? then when it was found missing (why would the vet have ketamine when she was tending a fukkin COW?) they searched an area that you couldnt lose owt in? why didnt john serch holly there and then?.. emmerdales continuity lets it down, at times its nearly as daft as the 'london soap'.

I think I'm the only person in the world who likes Holly Barton :o! I think the actress has a really unfortunate voice haha, in that everything she says sounds ridiculous, and she is easily the worst actress on the show at the moment, but I can't help but like her haha.

imho her only redeaming feature is her looks, she aint bad looking, but has zilch personality and i cant see her being much different in real life.

Aw I think she's beautiful, and to be fair to her, the crying scenes when whatshiface raided her room, could have been a hell of a let worse.
