the one where Diane realised she'd been duped and Shadrach met his end was an absolute blinder. Wonderfully played with a really good supporting performance from Val, and Marlon actually moved me when he found Shadders in the river (and when he was flipping out about him being drunk). When he isn't just dicking around Mark Charnock can be a really bloody good actor. Also some nice stuff with Viv/Brenda. Vg.

for once we are in total agreement....

yep, just another example of the way emmerdale slips in abit of humour in a dramatic scene...

great performances again from the alpha males, ryan, caine, nathan, aaron.... brilliant characters.

You don't half wear rose-tinted glasses sometimes... Ryan has never given a 'great performance'. He's a TERRIBLE character with less than zero personality. There was a scene the other week where Faye said to Jai something about Ryan not having sent a postcard which was so obviously dropped in to remind us that he was on holiday because otherwise nobody would even have noticed!

thats a matter of opinion jark... you might not like/rate him... but i do. he fits into the soap perfectly.

Well how? What is it about him that you think is great exactly? Fair enough if we disagree but try and explain your opinion so I can hope to understand.

He's just eye candy. I don't know if it's how his character is written because I think the actor was more likeable in Hollyoaks, from memory.

im not going to bicker with you.... ok, youre right, im wrong, hes crap. <_<

*Sigh*

Why do you always have to look for an argument with me? All I was asking was for you to explain what you think makes him a great character. This is a discussion forum after all. I would've liked to have been able to say 'oh, actually, you're right, that is a positive of his'. There's no element of me saying 'you're wrong!' and being the big bad wolf. Never mind though.

i like ryan lamb, i like his character, hes a likeable character... ok not a strong one , but in real life not everybody in your road IS a strong character.. this is what emmerdale does to great effect, uses 'ordinary' people to give reality to the soap, which makes it realistic.

i couldnt give a flying fcuk whether jark or anybody agrees or disagrees, my opinion of any tv charactor is determined by what i see on the screen, not what some spotty kid is telling me i should think.

Well thankyou for explaining your opinion to me. Now I at least see what it is about Ryan that you like. That's all I was asking.

I hardly think it warrants you getting personal and calling me a 'spotty teen' (and putting words in my mouth) but I guess I've got what I asked for.

Poor Ryan

Holly continues to be crap.

... but if she was a polished performer it wouldnt be reprisentitive of real life. i quite like her flawed character, her imperfections, again, that makes emmerdale realistic.

"theyll be dead by christmas" marlons plea to paddy last night regarding taking rhona on an emergency at a turkey farm.... brilliant!

I agree with Jark about Ryan. Very bland character IMO. He must have got his personality from his mum because Faye is just the same.

What does everyone think of the new characters? The fabulous Pauline Quirke arrives tonight at last. :D Very excited! Hannah's love interest Isaac seems a bit boring but we've only had a few scenes so far. I can't believe how much he looks like his mum and dad. Spitting image of them both! Leyla's sister Alicia is going to be an interesting one I think. Excited to see that storyline develop and why they hate each other.

im NOT looking forweward to pauline quirk... imho she carries too much baggage , too familiar, (but im her generation roughly and know her from other tv appearances for 30 odd years).

maybe she will fit in... maybe its a bad move... time will tell.

Almost completely caught up now, at long last. Hating hard on this Ryan storyline. Let him rot! Andy is tiresome too. Loving Rhona of late, she's got such a wicked sense of humour. I think I'd rather she was with Paddy but I'm not sure... not sure about Alicia either. She seems a bit cardboard cut-out gobby cow, next to Leyla anyway who I think is fabulous.
