08 - One Direction "Gotta Be You"

UK - 3-16-25-48 (4 weeks)

What a terrible chart run as you can see above, well that's the chart run they deserve - this was obviously a fan base buy and it couldn't connect to the general public like WMYB. The song wins the prize for being the most boring ballad of the decade, out of the top 7 only 2 of them are ballads which are worse than this for other reasons - but if any song was needed to prove that releasing any £h!te won't guarantee you a big selling single, this would be it.

07 - Bruno Mars "Marry You"

UK - 66-100-x-62-41-65-88-x-96-94-x-68-28-18-11-12-14-13-16-14-19-24-30-24-30-31-44-35-39-52 (27 weeks)

This was one of the two massive #11 hits of the year, the other being "Set Fire To The Rain" which I like. The two things I hate most about this song are 1-his voice and 2-the lyrics "we're looking for something dumb to do ... i think i wanna marry you" "is it the look in your eyes or is it this dancing juice?" WTF is dancing juice  And later in the song he sings "if we wake up and you wanna break up, that's cooooool" It's almost as if he's not that interesting in marrying this girl for real and is looking for a Facebook marriage. Bruno Mars wins the prize for most overrated artist of the year, congratulations. His other songs "Grenade" and "The Lazy Song" appear higher on this countdown.

06 - Beyonce "Run The World (Girls)"

UK - 18-11-19-37-45-22-29-30-36-39-23-32-41-49-73-84-90-OUT (17 weeks)

Surprisingly the only girl in the top 10 is Beyonce, all the top 5 are male dominated with double appearances from Bruno Mars and Chris Brown. Onto #6, I hated this song since it leaked on the internet. Beyonce must be my least favourite female singer of all time, and this era from her has been the worst for me. This song is a complete mess and is more or less her singing(?) over the top of Major Lazer's "Pon De Floor", RTW(G)'s existence caused PDF to jump to #3 in my personal chart and as a result it will be charting in my Top 100 hits. More on that later

05 - Chris Brown feat. Justin Bieber "Next To You"

UK - 49-x-43-39-24-20-20-22-15-14-17-27-36-47-44-43-56-OUT

First in the top 5 is this. I hate anything by CB and JB, so when they got together for a song - I knew I was going to really detest it. And I did, it's so cringeworthy and even though Justin doesn't sing much in this but the parts he does sing are annoying. The song would be just as bad however if it was Chris Brown only but sadly JB was put on this song to make it a hit.

04 - Chipmunk feat. Chris Brown "Champion"

UK - 2-5-5-6-8-14-20-24-26-31-34-39-41-50-60-50-42-55-56-72-OUT

All respect I had for Chipmunk was lost when I heard this. What a terrible song, and what's worse is, this was the song that got Chris Brown back in the mainstream  Chris over sings in the chorus, which takes up half of the song - but no, half of the song isn't enough for him, he just had to go and record a terrible rap in the middle  If any other vocalist was used instead of Brown I probably would've liked this song, but yes thanks to Chris it's my 4th most hated song of the year.

By the way the top 3 are all UK #1s :puke: but thanks to Jessie J this wasn't! :yahoo:

03 - Jason Derulo "Don't Wanna Go Home"

UK - 1-1-5-6-7-15-23-27-41-46-60-70-88-83-90-x-92-OUT (16 weeks)

I didn't even like this for one second (the top 2 hated tracks I actually did chart for a few weeks, before deciding I absolutely hated it). I was waiting for Derulo to make a good comeback, as I liked his previous songs - but then I heard this and it all changed, I lost all respect for this guy. The first thing I noticed was the massive sample of "Show Me Love" (yes I know it's originally by Robin S, but I much prefer Steve Angello's remix) and he had way too much auto tune. The lyrics are terrible too, the chorus is uninspired and rips off some other song I don't know the name of, and the "1 o clock 2 o clock..." shoutouts are pointless.

02 - Bruno Mars "The Lazy Song"

UK - 86-15-2-2-1-2-2-5-8-11-14-17-22-24-24-26-30-36-44-44-52-57-64-68-72-75-90-81-65-77-85-OUT

At first I was like, nice to finally have a Bruno song that isn't a ballad - then not much later the song blew up, spending 5 weeks top 2 and being unavoidable on radio and TV and I hated it :puke2: The video is terrible, why have Bruno dancing with 5 monkey faces? It was never funny, but one reason I hated this song even more is because EVERYONE I knew loved the song AND the video - just why I'll never know.

  • Author

01 - Bruno Mars "Grenade"

UK - 1-1-2-2-4-7-7-9-10-13-17-21-21-18-27-33-36-43-44-45-53-54-61-59-67-68-72-69-80-87-82-x-99-x-83-82-x-63-93-98-OUT

JTWYA was OK but got boring, but the real reason why I grew to hate Bruno is this song. It spent forever in the charts and on radio, which made this even more annoying for me. The song is a boring generic ballad which sold 150k in its first week (I don't know why people loved it that much) and the lyrics, especially the chorus I hate. When this made #1 I remember Reggie Yates making a parody of it changing the lyrics and proved the point that you could say just about anything "I'd xxxx a xxxxx for you" making the lyrics sound really uninspired. And the video is terrible too, what was the point of Bruno dragging a piano

That's it, I've counted down the tracks I hated most during the year - now on a more positive note there will be reviews on a few albums that I liked including my "Album Of The Year" and then the top 100 songs that I loved

I'm going to review some of my favourite albums of the year, because I don't really listen to albums I won't do a chart for them but just list the ones I like the most and then say the favourite. If you followed my chart it will be obvious who is my favourite album, when it got released about 10 tracks from that album were charting in the same week.

Album Of The Year - Contender: Rihanna "Loud"

UK - 2-5-4-4-2-2-1-1-1-2-3-5-3-3-3-5-6-7-7-5-4-6-5-8-8-10-14-17-12-18-15-9-11-8-10-7-12-10-14-11-10-19-20-16-14-16-23-29-12-14-18-17-23-27-36-44-46 (57 weeks)

01 - S&M (UK #3, PC #1)

02 - What's My Name feat. Drake (UK #1, PC #1)

03 - Cheers (Drink To That) (UK #15, PC #4)

04 - Fading

05 - Only Girl (In The World) (UK #1, PC #2)

06 - California King Bed (UK #8, PC #18)

07 - Man Down (UK #54, PC #10)

08 - Raining Men feat Nicki Minaj

09 - Complicated

10 - Skin

11 - Love The Way You Lie Part II feat. Eminem (PC #19)

This is Rihanna's best album ever. I'll get to 'Talk That Talk' later but I and most people much prefer this era. 'Fading' is my favourite album track, excluding 'Man Down' which was released in some parts of the world but not here (it did get to #54 however) Rihanna really did dominate the first half of the year on my chart, as the first 13 weeks had "What's My Name" or "S&M" on top of my chart with only a 1 week interruption from Lady GaGa (Born This Way) For these reasons although this album was released in 2010 it is an Album Of The Year Contender for 2011 - but who has my favourite album of the year?

Album Of The Year - Contender: Rihanna "Talk That Talk"

UK - 1-3-5-5 (4 weeks)

01 You Da One (UK #35, PC #12)

02 Where Have You Been (UK #61, PC #25)

03 We Found Love feat. Calvin Harris (UK #1, PC #2)

04 Talk That Talk feat. Jay-Z (UK #25, PC #5)

05 Cockiness (Love It) (PC #34)

06 Birthday Cake (PC #26)

07 We All Want Love

08 Drunk On Love

09 Roc Me Out

10 Watch n' Learn

11 Farewell

12 We Found Love feat. Calvin Harris (Extended Mix)

Take note Rihanna, Birthday Cake is a brilliant track but it would be made even better if it was LONGER. 1:18 is not enough. Other great album tracks are "Cockiness (Love It)" and "Roc Me Out" (I haven't charted the latter but I like it more than C(LI)) and future single choices should be "Talk That Talk feat. Jay-Z" then "Where Have You Been". This isn't as good as Loud with no personal chart toppers (We Found Love was very unlucky to spend 3 weeks at #2 behind Labrinth/Tinie Tempah and Avicii) but it still shows that RiRi can still make perfect pop tunes, WFL topped the charts for 6 weeks for a reason. TTT is an amazing track which is helped by a guest rap from Jay-Z that needs to be a single ASAP.

Gaga's Born This Way surely MUST be an album of the year contender Daniel? :D

And guessing by some of your name changes, LMFAO would be another? :puke2:

Surprisingly not. I only really liked the singles - there are a lot of "singles" acts I LOVE but would never listen to a whole album of them (LMFAO, Flo Rida, Calvin Harris, Jessie J) I would listen to Deadmau5, Tinie Tempah or Example's album however but I haven't included those on the list [Deadmau5 '4x4' was one of my favourites of last year] Unless I've forgotten someone obvious there are 2 more albums I will be reviewing (yes, like I said I don't listen to albums which is why I am not doing a "chart" for them)

I'm also thinking about doing compilation of the year contenders as I buy dance music compilations more than I buy studio albums

Album Of The Year - Contender: Lady GaGa "Born This Way"

UK - 1-1-3-3-1-3-3-4-5-7-6-9-15-16-20-14-15-17-18-22-16-27-34-41-43-14-18-21-22-21 (30 weeks)

01 - Marry The Night (UK #16, PC #6)

02 - Born This Way (UK #3, PC #1)

03 - Government Hooker (PC #21)

04 - Judas (UK #8, PC #1)

05 - Americano

06 - Hair (UK #13, PC #2)

07 - Schiesse (PC #7)

08 - Bloody Mary

09 - Bad Kids (PC #32)

10 - Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)

11 - Heavy Metal Lover

12 - Electric Chapel (PC #33)

13 - You And I (UK #23, PC #35)

14 - The Edge Of Glory (UK #6, PC #5)

15 - Born This Way (Jost & Naaf Remix)

What a great album GaGa has made. Of course this era hasn't been as good sales and music wise as last era, but still this is a great follow-up even if it doesn't live up to how much she was hyping it at the time. It features 10 personal chart hits, one song that needs to be a single is "Schiesse", with 16 weeks in my charts so far and a #7 peak - she can't go wrong with releasing it! I will be reviewing some tracks from this album later in my T100 singles chart. One track I regret not charting is "Americano", brilliant song but at the time of release I didn't 'get' it. Could be a potential summer radio hit like 'Alejandro' was in 2010.

Album Of The Year - Winner: Nero "Welcome Reality"

UK - 1-8-17-32-29-32-32-38-44-42-60-78-99-OUT

01 - 2808

02 - Doomsday (PC #16)

03 - My Eyes (PC #17)

04 - Guilt (UK #8, PC #2)

05 - Fugue State (PC #13)

06 - Me And You (UK #15, PC #4)

07 - Innocence (PC #28)

08 - In The Way (PC #19)

09 - Scorpions

10 - Crush On You (UK #32, PC #9)

11 - Must Be The Feeling (PC #18)

12 - Reaching Out (PC #39)

13 - Promises (UK #1, PC #1)

14 - Departure

With 11 out of 14 tracks having charted with me, this is easily my favourite album of the year. Nero have awesome futuristic production that you wouldn't see in your average chart hit - luckily they took advantage of a low sales week and got to #1 with their single and album in the UK. Nero are the best dub step producers around (Skrillex comes close however but he can wait until next year) bringing it to the mainstream with some brilliant single choices. I first discovered them late 2010 when I heard "Innocence" (which is a TUNE) then when I heard 'Me And You' on the radio it went straight to my top ten, and peaked at #4 weeks later. Congratulations Nero, I know I'm about 1 of 10 fans of them on this forum but they still deserve to be my Album Of The Year for their great dub step production.

---x---

So that was my (very short) albums of the year review. Now you've got to look forward to the main event, my top 100 singles chart of the year. I will be giving out hints soon but expect to see lots of appearances from Nero, Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Tinie Tempah, LMFAO, Calvin Harris etc. I can also tell you right now that Nero have NOT done the double, which means anyone could be my single of the year :o (although it's obvious if you follow my weekly charts)

  • Author

I haven't done my last chart of the year yet but I have a good idea of what will be in my end of year T100, so here are some hints of what exactly is in my chart. My year end chart has been based on a points system but I might swap some songs around so don't be too surprised if a song on lower points is higher. :P

Firstly, here is everyone who should be in my chart at least twice: (including features)

Rihanna – 9 :o

Tinie Tempah – 6

Lady GaGa - 5

Calvin Harris – 4

Nero - 4

50 Cent - 3

Afrojack – 3

David Guetta – 3

Example – 3

Jessie J – 3

Kanye West - 3

LMFAO – 3

Wiz Khalifa – 3

ADELE - 2

Avicii - 2

Chase & Status - 2

Drake – 2

Jennifer Lopez - 2

Nicole Scherzinger - 2

Pitbull - 2

Sak Noel – 2

Steve Aoki – 2

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs – 2

The Black Eyed Peas – 2

Wolfgang Gartner - 2

Wretch 32 – 2

And I can tell you most of the songs were massive hits in the UK - but unfortunately many didn't chart very well :(

UK #1 - 16

Top 5 - 26

Top 20 - 24

Top 40 - 11

Top 100 - 9

DNC – 14

And most of my chart will be male-lead (this includes songs like Who's That Chick that have no male vocals but is credited to David Guetta)

Male - 67

Female - 33

That's enough information, now let's get to the near misses, in no particular order here is what sadly just missed the top 100

Tiesto vs. Diplo "C'mon"

Steve Aoki & Laidback Luke feat. Lil' Jon "Turbulence"

Delilah "Go"

Nicki Minaj "Girls Fall Like Dominoes"

Ed Sheeran "You Need Me, I Don't Need You"

Ed Sheeran "Lego House"

Skream & Example "Shot Yourself In The Foot Again"

Katy Perry "The One That Got Away"

Cher Lloyd "Swagger Jagger"

Gym Class Heroes feat. Adam Levine "Stereo Hearts"

Bad Meets Evil feat. Bruno Mars "Lighters"

Ray Foxx "The Trumpeter"

Knife Party "Internet Friends"

Sway "Still Speedin"

Charlene Soraia "Wherever You Will Go"

Bingo Players "Cry (Just A Little)

Timbaland feat. Pitbull "Pass At Me"

Drake feat. Rihanna "Take Care"

Rihanna "You Da One"

Duck Sauce "Big Bad Wolf"

It would be fun to see some comments, what songs that missed out do you love? Can you guess Rihanna's nine entries? The chart will start soon anyway :D

Alcohol I assume!

I actually like the majority of your most hated chart but then I like nearly everything I hear  That said, there was nothing that I 'love' high up in there so not too bad...

Will be interesting to see your top 100 :D
