Sian Evans) 07 Gold Dust Sian Evans 03 Louder (with DJ Fresh) ------------- At #45 is Lloyd making a comeback after being featured on my #32 hit of 2010, "Bedrock" with Young Money. This song, about breaking up with your girlfriend, has a great retro "F**k You" vibe - the clean version is better (not many songs where I can say this :kink:) The Lil' Wayne feature is a bit POINTLESS but Andre does a great rap in the song, where has he been these days? This was an instant hit with me thanks to the catchiness and attitude of it. Next up is the 2nd of 17 #1s - from LMFAO. I couldn't get into the song at first, as I thought it was a bit crap compared to their previous single - but it started climbing into the T40 and I loved it for a few weeks (if I didn't forget to do a chart after it jumped to #1 it might have stayed there another week) before realising that LMFAO weren't the type of act that can get hit after hit ... but then they released SAIKI - that will come later. At #43 is the first of FIVE Tinie Tempah entries in the top 50, and the first of two that he is the leading artist on. The collab with Wiz Khalifa was the first release from the deluxe version of Disc-Overy, so surely that can only mean massive success. No, it was a big flop by his standards but I still loved it - he is the best rapper in the game and next year he deserves a massive comeback in the UK after his feature on "Earthquake". Winners of The X Factor were so close to making top 40 but in the end I decided that the top 40 is so good they'll have to sadly miss out. Cannonball holds the record for most frontloaded song best first day and first week plays on my iTunes, getting played 50 times on the day of purchase and over 75 by the end of the week. It has 137 plays to date, more than a lot of the T40 to come. I had a hard time choosing which song had to miss out my T40, they are all so good - in the end DJ Fresh's "Louder" had the least amount of points so that missed out. A great dub step tune, the dub step "revolution" that was meant to happen never did but we did get a few great songs like this one. This is the best selling dub step song in the UK and the highest non-Nero dub step song on my chart. Edited January 2, 201213 yr by *xmasG*
January 2, 201213 yr Author TOP 40 TIME :yahoo: If everything goes to plan, I'll be doing one post for every song in the top 40 as well as a quick chart rewind of what I was loving this time last year. You can comment on songs that you're loving - and I should hopefully finish by the middle of the month. ------- 40 - Lucenzo feat. Don Omar "Danza Kuduro" Points - 542,500 UK Peak - #13 PC Run - 4-14-13-12-13-8-4-8-20-33-49-x (11 weeks) GnBYdUXi3Eg Lucenzo 04 Danza Kuduro (feat. Don Omar) Don Omar 04 Danza Kuduro (feat. Lucenzo) + Starting off the top 40 is a non-English language song that was a massive hit in Europe, getting number one in Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and The Netherlands - for the UK this was remixed with Qwote and Pitbull turning it into one of the most generic/awful/cheesy songs ever - says it all that I don't need to understand a song to love it  This version (in the video) got all the promotion and is the one that people bought, unluckily it missed top 10 but I doubt Lucenzo minds. Oddly in some countries it is credited Don Omar feat. Lucenzo but I've used the English crediting Lucenzo feat. Don Omar. Congratulations on being the only foreign language song to smash my chart, if you don't count last years #1 We No Speak Americano that is ++ Chart Rewind: 40. Owl City "Fireflies" At the end of the top 40 is the One Hit Wonder song by Owl City. This song I think is good even though it got overplayed at the time. But it seems like this song is more famous than the artist, so they won't have another big hit. I was right about that, everyone except Eyes has forgotten about Owl City. I don't know how it ended up in my top 40 of the year - a forgotten gem but I don't really love it anymore.

Debuting at a low #29 when the song was low in the US charts, it re-entered at it's peak when it was remixed to feature my favourite British rapper, Tinie Tempah. He drops a good verse in place of Dev's second verse, which meant we got some of Dev's brilliant rapping and the amazing middle 8. I should also give The Cataracs some credit for the production on this song, it's like no other on the chart and it has a great hip hop feel. I'm impressed that it managed to go top 10 in the UK, before massively falling and Dev becoming less relevant with next single "In The Dark" - which flopped both in my chart and the UK but somehow became a hit in the US. I don't have anything against that song, and I should've charted it higher tbh. ++ Chart Rewind: 39. Tinie Tempah feat. Labrinth "Frisky" This song was so addictive but grew out of it quickly. It sounds good when listened back like all Tinie Tempah songs so I don't regret putting this at the top spot. Labrinth really adds to this song too with his singing and he should try again to release a massive single. :o Labrinth must've been reading my review of this song - because that's exactly what he's done. It is coincidental that Tinie Tempah was on the #39 song both years I've been doing this  Still like 'Frisky' but it's one of his worst singles, a second rate Pass Out that did it's job at the time but not a classic.

Katy Perry "Starstrukk" 30h!3's best single to date. Everything else they've done has been $h!!te. I admit this song is very cheesy but I like cheese! Katy Perry adds to the song and she gets the best verse. Don't remember the last time I heard this, a fun song but it's been forgotten by me. At the time it was hyped to be a big hit, and I got the hype. It had everything that screamed 'club hit' - a great sample from some unknown song with a club beat was done in 2010 with We No Speak Americano, but when it was done here it got no promo and flopped. It quickly dropped down the chart after flopping but I still love the song now and it deserves a place in this top 40. Would love some more European crossover hits in 2012, especially ones with great use of sample (not Jason Derulo and Beyonce's idea of "sampling" in DWGH and RTW) ++ Chart Rewind: 37. Lady GaGa "Alejandro" Lady GaGa knows how to make a good song. It took time to get used to this but looking back on it, it's one of my favourite GaGa songs and was overplayed but underrated. Her comeback hopefully will be soon, then she can rightfully take her place on the throne for Queen of Pop. HI GAGA (again). My prediction for her to "take her place on the throne for Queen of Pop" went a bit wrong  with the album not being as good as she said it would be - but I'm still a fan of it. Expect "Judas" and "Born This Way" higher up this chart.

Many dislike it and call it "generic" and "Only Girl rip-off" but I like it for these reasons, she looks hot in the video and the lyrics are sexy. A great song to dance and take off your clothes to :P  Unfortunately her career is just about over, after the controversial send off in the US X Factor she is likely to get fired - and her 'comeback' single (from the deluxe version of Killer Love) Try With Me was very poor, not even the X Factor performance made it grow on me :( ++ Chart Rewind: 36. Lady GaGa feat. Beyonce "Telephone" Two Lady GaGa songs in a row, this is the second of the two. It also features Beyonce, who has been around for a while. Lady GaGa likes a long video, and this is no exception with the video shooting this song to number one in the charts. Still like this song and it's still easily her best video along with Bad Romance (it needs to have more views than JB!) She's tried to hard with the videos this era and they've either ended up disappointing or too weird

It took me a few weeks to get used to this song, like most of Nero's hits - but when the album dropped it went up to #1. This is how dub step should be done to get more commercially popular, unfortunately the public don't really like it - with this song getting to #1 in the UK on fan base buys and low competition then dropping fast. Nero should do more songs with this vocalist as she's very good. ++ Chart Rewind: 35. Taio Cruz "Dynamite" A summer floorfiller, very average song that makes you throw your hands up in the air. But there's nothing special about this song or Taio so unless he gets more press in America I can't see his career lasting for that much longer (wait a few years). Well, his career is already over in the US - but it's great to see "Troublemaker" look like it could hit the UK. I'm sure Dynamite would sound great at a party but I don't really listen to it out of choice anymore, as the production is the same as many other songs

There's not much to say about this song that hasn't been said already - it's catchy, fresh pop with a message (however it's not about the money isn't the right message for comic relief ) Jessie J's live performances aren't that great but she sounds great on the recording. B.o.B's rap adds something to the song, he needs to make a proper comeback soon as he used to be good - and I like his style of rapping (it's easy to rap B.o.B's part of this :kink:) ++ Chart Rewind: 34. The Black Eyed Peas "Rock That Body" The last single from The E.N.D, it missed out on the top 10 officially. All Black Eyed Peas songs are good and this is no exception. This song is perfect for the club and Fergie's different sound on the song adds to it. I still love the BEPs, this is a top tune but I wouldn't put it in their top 5 songs ever (which is saying a lot about their massive discography) Edited January 3, 201213 yr by *xmasG*

I first heard it on a Nokia advert then later I was playing it lots on iTunes. The instrumental to this is perfect, and the vocals add to the song. If this song didn't have those lovely synths in the intro and throughout the song I wouldn't love it as much. The next question is other than a few personal charts on BJ why aren't TEED getting any hype? Would love to see them in the UK T40  ++ Chart Rewind: 33. David Guetta feat. Chris Willis, Fergie & LMFAO "Getting' Over You" David Guetta made a comeback with this tune, originally Gettin Over, he got Fergie & LMFAO on the song for extra excitement! And it worked, getting to number one officially. "Extra excitement" - yes I would love Fergie to have another solo career while the BEPs aren't doing anything, and LMFAO - they have 2 more entries to come on this chart :o

Sub Focus & Takura) Liam Bailey 02 Blind Faith (with Chase & Status) + Taking a big sample from "Love Sensation", this was the first C&S hit of 2011 - and really good it is too. This song proves that dub step can sound amazing when done right, the chorus is explosive! Liam Bailey is a good vocalist for this song, where has he gone now? Despite being amazing etc, I don't like it enough as the points suggest, and it would be nearer to the top 20 if it was completely based on points. Their choice not to release "Hitz" as the follow up to this really hurt it in the UK chart, but it was still a massive hit with me - more on that later. ++ Chart Rewind: 32. Young Money feat. Lloyd "Bedrock" This song's by a US rap collective with Drake, Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne in it. I think it's a very good song and it's bringing back R&B. This song introduced Drake & Minaj to the charts and to the UK. ...but unfortunately Drake hasn't really cracked the UK, his Rihanna collaborations aside :( Expect WMN to come up soon in the chart rewind, as well as the main chart itself - as it spent 5 weeks at #1 in January.

Some very clever lyrics here, and they haven't done anything as good - MDTH is currently their lowest peaking song but will probably climb in the future. The trumpet sample is all good but this song's all about their style of rapping. It was a deserved birthday #1, very summery song (my birthday's in mid-August) ++ Chart Rewind: 31. B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars "Nothin' On You" B.o.B's style of rapping and Bruno Mars's great singing voice make this song what it is. Bruno Mars is the best person for the chorus as he can sing the best out of the R&B stars of today. I still don't mind Bruno on this song, but this year I've really detested everything he's done (Lighters aside) There is no denying he can sing well but his voice and style annoys me.

Zuper Blahq) + A great instrumental here from Armand van Helden of Duck Sauce, this was a great follow-up to YE #6 of 2010 - Barbra Streisand, and it's also Steve Aoki's biggest hit. I got the radio edit version of this song on a Clubland compilation, which is very short (2:20) but still great and I've played it 50 times to date. Not much else I can say now, apart from AvH is a legend in house music and this is one of his top tracks ++ Chart Rewind: 30. Caspa "Back For The First Time" Best dubstep song of the year, shame it didn't crack the top 40. Mr Hudson recorded vocals on this song but I don't like that version. This song only works as an instrumental. Caspa should make another tune or this will be a One Hit Wonder on my chart forever. Still a tune - one of my favourite dub step songs ever, but he still hasn't done that follow up. Expect some dub step higher up my chart of 2011 thanks to Nero, apart from that most of the songs left are either rap hits or club bangers

That certainly wasn't the case, with Judas not reaching iTunes #1 and flopping in the US. It didn't flop on most charts on BJ - including mine. I love this song a lot and I think the production is excellent (real shame it didn't do well in the UK :() ++ 26. David Guetta feat. Rihanna "Who's That Chick" I won't be reviewing this song just yet, as it appears in my top 25 of 2011 :o
January 7, 201213 yr Author 25 - Nicole Scherzinger feat. 50 Cent "Right There" Points - 807,500 UK Peak - #3 PC Run - (10-11-11-12-7-8-8-7-2-9-12-24-21-24-30-39-x) (16 weeks) t-vTaktsUSw&ob=av2e Nicole Scherzinger 02 Right There (feat. 50 Cent) 02 Wet 13 Poison 13 Don't Hold Your Breath 30 Try With Me 50 Cent 02 Right There (with Nicole Scherzinger) 03 Down On Me (with Jeremih) 08 Buzzin (with Mann) + Nicole Scherzinger's second and last entry in this - after the average Poison and DHYB I wasn't very excited for a new Scherzy single, then I was introduced to it on the chart show and I loved it  The production sounds like a urban Rihanna and Nicole's singing with 50's rap reminds me of What's My Name (which is still to come in the chart) It took a while to peak, that was probably because of the competition in the chart at the time. And of course the video is hot. ++ Chart Rewind: 25. Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dogg "California Gurls" Katy's comeback single is at 25. Snoop Dogg doesn't add anything to the song and he's not relevent anymore. The video is the best of 2010 and has been really big in the UK and US. Well I was wrong there about Snoop - he had a massive hit with David Guetta which will be charting later on.
January 7, 201213 yr Author 24 - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguleria) 41 Misery Christina Aguleria 02 Moves Like Jagger (with Maroon 5) 30 Not Myself Tonight + I first heard it on R2 and I didn't expect it to be that successful, but I found it catchy enough to chart it at #23. It later returned to my top 10 after surprising everyone, getting 7 weeks at #2 - which is more impressive than getting 6 weeks at #2 with a week at #1 in the middle for me. On my chart it only had 1 week at #2 but I love the song a lot - Christina isn't one of my favourite singers ever but her part adds to it and the production is more up-to date than the disappointing attempt at a comeback last year (Misery) ++ Chart Rewind: 24. Aggro Santos feat. Kimberly Wyatt "Candy" Yes its him from I'm A Celebrity, I don't really call him a celebrity more like a One Hit Wonder as Saint or Sinner flopped. Anyway this song is a great club tune and Kimberly Wyatt is a great part of the song. The rapping is average so its the singing that makes the song what it is. Unfortunately Kimberly seems like a One Hit Wonder too. Forgettable generic song here, was great at the time but I wouldn't listen to it out of choice now. "Aggrosantos.com"

Her voice works perfectly well on a dance track and the fact she can do pop, dance, ballad and R&B shows her massive versatility. One of the greatest pop singers of this generation with one of the best producers of this generation - what is there not to love? ++ Chart Rewind: 23. Professor Green feat. Ed Drewett "I Need You Tonight" Pro's first single takes a large sample from an INXS song, also called 'I Need You Tonight'. He is not an average rapper and has his own style, which some people like and some find it very annoying. My favourite from him and I don't think he'll match this success. Still my favourite from him, a real shame that I don't like his new era a lot. RAAI is now his most successful single in the UK but not in my charts.
January 9, 201213 yr Author 22 - Nero "Me And You" Points - 835,000 UK Peak - #15 PC Run - (7-8-13)-15-14-18-18-6-5-4-5-10-8-10-10-14-16-26-33-42-42-49-x-34-x (23 weeks) bE47er6qnqg 21 - Nero "Guilt" Points - 848,250 UK Peak - #8 PC Run - 49-18-14-18-8-4-5-4-2-9-16-19-20-11-20-30-38-39-40-22-40-22-31-30-49-x (25 weeks) K_2Z32qCYBg Nero 01 Promises 02 Guilt 04 Me And You 09 Crush On You 13 Fugue State 16 Doomsday 17 My Eyes 18 Must Be The Feeling 19 In The Way 28 Innocence 39 Reaching Out + Two songs by the same act happen to be next to each other so I may as well review them at the same time. "Me And You" has that epic introduction, the instrumental of this is amazing and Alana's vocal adds to it. I believe it was the theme music when James Corden went on stage at the BRITS (he was hosting the show) It deserves much more than its #15 peak. If you haven't seen the music video you should watch that too - it's based around a video game (that I believe you can actually play on Nero's website, lol) Just missing out the top 20 of the year is Nero's other song "Guilt" which was their first top 10 hit. I did love it but it tired with overplay from my brother. He's a much bigger Nero fan than I am :P Anyway back onto the song - Guilt has the same vocalist as M&Y and Promises who makes the song emotional with her "you keep on talking but it makes no sense at all, sense at all sense at all..." lyrics. It took a long time to grow, at first I was very disappointed with this song believe it or not but it just takes out M&Y as my favourite Nero song of the year. ++ Chart Rewind: 22. Flo Rida feat. David Guetta "Club Can't Handle Me" Flo Rida made a big comeback this year with French producer David Guetta and unknown girl vocals. The song was used in Step Up 3, the American verison of Streetdance. This and Good Feeling are good but I can't help but be disappointed when Low and Right Round are up there with my all time favourites. I like this more than Good Feeling, but it would probably be the other way around if Levels didn't exist. 21. Rihanna feat. Drake "What's My Name" There were complaints last night about her performance on TXF, but I didn't complain! Rihanna is the Queen Of Pop right now and the biggest international popstar in the world. This song goes back to her original R&B style, after dancepop songs like Who's That Chick and Only Girl, the latter is to chart in my top 20! I will be reviewing this song later.
