Posted August 4, 200618 yr Information from All Kinds Of Everything. NEW COUNTRIES http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/SERB0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/MNGR0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/UNNA0001.GIF Serbia and Montenegro will now enter seperately, instead of Serbia & Montenegro. It is likely this will happen for the 2007 contest. Kosovo may also make an appearance. This will bring the total amount of Former Yugoslav countries to a staggering seven. Just 15 years ago, Yugoslavia was still entering as one country. http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/AUST0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/HUNG0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/ITAL0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/LUXE0001.GIF Hungary and Austria withdrew last year, and both may make a return this year, although it is unclear at the moment. Italy and Luxembourg withdrew in the 1990s and both may also make a return in the future, though 2007 is unlikely. Italy have changed government and apparently they want to be back in with the Eurovision, and may become part of a Big Five along with United Kingdom, Spain, France and Germany. Luxembourg aren't EBU members anymore, but a rival broadcaster to the old one who broadcasted the Eurovision has apparently decided to try and re-enter the contest. Morocco have stated they may also make a return, should Israel pull out... Israel really are hated aren't they? Yet they still managed a top five position in 2005, so blaming politics isn't the answer... http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/GEOR0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/AZER0001.GIF Georgia and Azerbaijan... hmm European countries?! Well yes, they have expressed interest in 2007's contest and are strong candidates to do so too. Georgia are members of the EBU so it is likely they will submit a song. Slovakia also want to make a return, after last participating in 1998 ( ) and Czech Republic are looking to debut in 2007.
August 4, 200618 yr Author WITHDRAWING COUNTRIES http://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/ANDR0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/MOLD0001.GIFhttp://www.keithm.utvinternet.ie/images/NETH0001.GIF Andorra are likely not to submit a song for 2007, after disappointing results and shortage of money. The same accounts for Monaco, yet they also have little public interest. Moldova are also suffering after a poor result in 2006, and little public interest may force them to pull out of 2007. Belarus haven't made an impact since debuting in 2004, but since the show isn't too far away from them they are likely to participate, after earlier thinking of pulling out. Dutch broadcaster NOS has stated no interest in participating for the Netherlands anymore, but another station wants to take up the opportunity to take the Netherlands to Helsinki, so it is looking good for the Dutch in Eurovision once again. ^_^ Many Bulgarians have lost interest in the contest, they need another sponsor and they've had poor results in recent years. Bulgaria may not have an entry in 2007 either.
August 4, 200618 yr Author So, a likely list for the Eurovision semi-final from my point of view... Albania Austria Belarus Belgium Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia FYR Macedonia Georgia Iceland Israel Latvia Malta Montenegro Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Serbia Slovakia Slovenia Switzerland Turkey That's a total of 25 countries, which is in the limit I believe. :smoke: And the finalists will more than likely be (unless we have another S&M incident like 2006!)... Armenia Bosnia-Herzegovina Finland France Germany Greece Ireland Lithuania Romania Russia Spain Sweden Ukraine United Kingdom
August 6, 200618 yr nice topic David :D I really hope that Italy will come back and I would love 2 see the czeks & the slovakian apearing! I think the limet is a total of 40 countries or less but not more!so im the semies can apear maximum of 26 countries next year! and yes it's almost certain that Montenigro & Serbia gonna debute as independet countries!!!
August 6, 200618 yr Author Thanks Boyan ^_^ and yeah it would be so cool if Italy came back in it.
August 7, 200618 yr Ugh...the main problem with most of the countries that are pulling out of the contest is that they took part in the semi-final - I remember that I  Belarus' debut back in 2004 (for some odd reason...but it was so wonderfully quirky!), and Andorra and Monaco were robbed in recent years. Moldova however...you had one bad result and now you're pulling out? That's just stupid, you had one of the best debuts (results-wise, not song-wise :puke2:) in Eurovision, and then you flopped the year after with a REALLY cr@p song, and now you're pulling out? Pathetic. That said, I can't wait to see the Italians back in. I want some quirky Italian camp-pop! And Czech pop should be a good laugh while I'm slammed and have started rating the results based on how good-looking the performers are
