Brandon is a 30-something man living comfortably in New York balancing a busy job and active social life. When the wayward Sissy, turns up at his apartment unannounced, Brandon's carefully managed lifestyle spirals out of control.

Really looking forward to this. Directed by Steve McQueen  and starring Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. It's been getting pretty much universal acclaim and if Hunger's anything to go by the cinematography will be stunning.

Mahoosif excitement for this too. Trailer looks wonderous yah yah.
Carey Mulligan is flat out amazing in this, and I've never been that convinced by her before. It's been over a month since I saw it and she's still vibrant in my mind. Fassy is brilliant too, of course. There's a bit of obvious storytelling but it's a very powerful piece of work.

Seeing this next week and Steve McQueen is doing a Q&A after. Should be interesting!

TOO JEALOUS

This was superb. McQueen is such an ingenius director. The entire film definitely striking, thought-provoking and wonderfully shot (obviously not comparable to 'The Tree of Life' or 'Melancholia' in terms of beautiful cinematography but still very well done). It's a raw film but wasn't exactly overtly explicit (

although there is one scene in a bar where Fassbender is fingering a random woman and makes her boyfriend smell his fingers

) and I'm sure they could have gotten away with a 15 rating. Just. I'm sure both Fassbender (especially) and Mulligan will be nominated for their performances, both were brilliant. Great score as well. Gah. Film of the year for me.

Just back from seeing this and I absolutely loved it. As expected with McQueen it looked incredible and I loved the

open-ended ending. I especially liked the threesome scene purely for how it was shot and the music/sound. Gave me goosebumps as you see the look of realisation on his face.

So much appreciation too for all the long shots in it.

This is one of the best films of the year so far for me. There were some parts where I felt like it dragged on for a while but I found it to be such a tragic film. I found the ending in particular to be quite depressing. It was beautifully shot though. It's a shame I was the only one out of my circle of friends to appreciate it though. I got a lot of 'If I had paid to see it, I would've walked out and asked for my money back'.

It's being shown here too (along with The Artist!). Never thought it was possible :o
