Hugo is a fantasy adventure that takes place in the walls of a Paris railway station in the early 1930s. Hugo Cabret is a young boy whose mother has died and who lives with his father, a master clockmaker, who takes him to see films and loves the films of George Méliès best of all. Hugo's father dies in a museum fire, and he is taken away by his uncle, an alcoholic watchmaker who is responsible for maintaining the clocks in the railway station. His uncle teaches him to take care of the clocks, and disappears. Hugo lives between the walls of the train station, maintaining the clocks, stealing food and working on his father's most ambitious project: a broken automaton etc etc

All looks and sounds like a thoroughly spiffing Christmas treat yah!

Visually it looks AMAZING. Early word is that the story doesn't match up to the visuals but there could be a director nod for Scorsese at the Oscars.

Just back from seeing it and pretty much this. It looked incredible and it's one of those rare cases where the 3D actually improves it, but the story for me just let it down. I don't know if I was just reading into stuff too much but it was all just a bit confusing. Was still a really good film though.
