January 3, 201213 yr Afternoon. :) no mids then. <_< The Middle Eight again. :D 2011:Top Albums I should note that many of my reviews below were first published in 2011 in the American (print) magazine Instinct. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WTzxZRHvdew/TwGgT3ZwN_I/AAAAAAAAIKY/3gjnPadqK0M/s400/Will-Young-Echoes.jpg Will Young Echoes That lush lipped popstrel Will Young's new album might never be released in the US does not dampen my affection. Ten years into his career (like some grand ol dame of pop!), he remains a class act. Echoes, however, is a game changer of the Madonna meets William Orbit model. In this case, the wunderkind collaborator is another British electro-icon, Richard X. The result is still very much mid-tempo – not quite disco - but the "sonics" are lush and current, with Young’s soaring voice climbing up and down strong melodies. Jealousy is the most elegant hit single this year. Standout tracks: Jealousy, Come On, Runaway, Good Times, I Just Want A Lover, Losing Myself, and Happy Now http://xolondon.blogspot.com/2012/01/best-...top-albums.html
January 3, 201213 yr SO Essex Mag.. The byline on the front page will no doubt freak out a few people... Our January celebrity, Will Young The man has come full circle. Ten years after he won Pop Idol, Will Young has defied Simon Cowell’s predictions, shirked off the ‘manufactured’ tag, accumulated album sales of over six million copies and amassed a £14million fortune. But what of the future? He reveals all exclusively to So magazine. http://magazine-api.aptusinteractive.com/api/resource/3987a841-3823-4277-aa41-552aa750926d/page_image/SOE_Jan12_Digital%20Mag%20links_1.jpg
January 3, 201213 yr Author Must admit, althought it's probably sensationalism, I hate reading such a headline. :( We've had a few similar comments from recents interviews that make me feel a little uneasy. Want him back, raring to go again on the music scene, telling us how much he enjoys singing. :(
January 3, 201213 yr Anyone who sees that man on stage should never feel uneasy about him leaving it all behind IMO Gill. :P he has his breaks and then he's back..it's the way it's always been and will always be i suppose.
January 3, 201213 yr January 3, 2012 | Shaun Kitchener | 0 Comments Readers’ Awards 2011: The Results Over 1,000 votes later, and this year’s Readers’ Awards have finally been counted. I’m not going to lie to you, ladies and gents – you have made some bad decisions. But there are also some fair decisions, some accurate decisions, and some I-wouldn’t-have-thought-so-but-OK-that’s-what-you-get-for-having-a-vote decisions. At the start of December the five candidates in each category with the most votes were sent through the second and final round, and below are the results… SINGLE OF THE YEAR 1. Will Young – ‘Jealousy’ (41.5%) 2. Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera – ‘Moves Like Jagger’ (28%) 3. Coldplay – ‘Paradise’ (13.3%) 4. One Direction – ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ (12.6%) 5. Cher Lloyd ft Mike Posner – ‘With Ur Love’ (4.9%) Nearly everybody who voted for ‘With Ur Love’ here (and got her on the shortlist in the first place) also voted for ‘Swagger Jagger’ in the below category, as if to say something along the lines of “OK, yes, Cher made a mistake, OK? SHE MADE A MISTAKE. But you know what? She’s HUMAN. Don’t we all make mistakes? Sometimes? Every once in a little while?”. Or something. ABSOLUTELY NOT SINGLE OF THE YEAR 1. Cher Lloyd – ‘Swagger Jagger’ (58.3%) 2. Rebecca Black – ‘Friday’ (15.1%) 3. Sak Noel – ‘Loca People’ (12.2%) 4. LMFAO – ‘Sexy And I Know It’ (10.1%) 5. LMFAO – ‘Party Rock Anthem’ (4.3%) I am personally of the belief that exactly 50% of the shortlisted songs not titled ‘Swagger Jagger’ are worse than actual ‘Swagger Jagger’. But hey, in the grand scheme of horrendous pop music, a shit song’s a shit song, right? ALBUM OF THE YEAR 1. Adele – 21 (37.1%) 2. Will Young – Echoes (33.6%) 3. Lady GaGa – Born This Way (14.7%) 4. One Direction – Up All Night (9.79%) 5. Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto (4.9%) This one came DOWN TO THE WIRE, ladies and gents. About three quarters of the people who voted for Will’s album both A) were directed to the poll via a fan forum, and B) voted for him in every other category he was shortlisted in. So, if we’re looking to the more “impartial” voters for a more accurate reading of what’s popular, I suppose the right album won. Still, all five records are at least of a 4/5 standard. MOST DISAPPOINTING ALBUM OF 2011 1. Matt Cardle – Letters (59.9%) 2. Pixie Lott – Young Foolish Happy (15.3%) 3. Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto (9.5%) 4. Beyonce – 4 (8.0%) 5. Lady GaGa – Born This Way (7.3%) Although he got more votes than the other four nominees combined, and I can’t say Letters was anything spectacular, I really will be shocked if everyone who voted for Matt has actually heard the album… BEST VIDEO 1. Will Young – ‘Jealousy’ (44.9%) 2. Ed Sheeran – ‘Lego House’ (16.7%) 3. One Direction – ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ (15.9%) 4. The Saturdays – ‘All Fired Up’ (12.3%) 5. Coldplay – ‘Paradise’ (10.1%) Was the One Direction video only considered good because they were in it? BEST NEWCOMER 1. Jessie J (36.2%) 2. Ed Sheeran (25.4%) 3. One Direction (18.8%) 4. Lawson (10.9%) 5. Emeli Sande (8.7%) I am only semi-enthused by most of the above. BEST LYRIC FROM A 2011 SONG 1. “Grab somebody sexy, tell them ‘hey!’” – Pitbull etc, ‘Give Me Everything’ (25.0%) 2. Virtually all of Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’ (23.2%) 3. “Think of me in the depths of your despair, making home down there cos mine sure won’t be shared” – Adele, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ (22.3%) 4. “They say I’m up and coming like I’m f***ing in an elevator” – Ed Sheeran ‘You Need Me…’ (20.5%) 5. “Fame hooker, prostitute wench” – Lady GaGa, ‘Judas’ (8.9%) A good showing from everyone except GaGa, there. Though that Ed Sheeran lyric really should have done better… ‘LEAST UGLY’ MALE POPSTAR 1. Will Young (44.6%) 2. Michael Buble (25.2%) 3. Harry Styles (17.3%) 4. Liam Payne (7.9%) 5. Siva Kaneswaran (5.0%) There you have it, everybody. Liam Payne is less than half as attractive as Harry Styles. ‘LEAST UGLY’ FEMALE POPSTAR 1. Beyonce (43.8%) 2. Rebecca Ferguson (27.0%) 3. Katy Perry (16.8%) 4. Rochelle Wiseman (6.6%) 5. Lana Del Rey (5.8%) Beyonce: A woman so attractive to men, women and gays that she’s even desirable when about to squeeze a small human out of her vajayjay. Well done, dear. MOST ATROCIOUS POPSTAR OF 2011 1. Cher Lloyd (40.6%) 2. Justin Bieber (33.6%) 3. Pitbull (16.1%) 4. Example (6.3%) 5. Dev (3.5%) And so it was that, despite her album being actually rather good, Cher Lloyd is considered vastly, VASTLY more irritating than M.C. (i.e. ‘talks a bit’) Dev. Congratulations, Dev. Also, she didn’t get enough votes in the first round to be shortlisted, but kudos to the person who voted for Jessie J on the grounds that “no-one asked for her, nobody wants her now and everything she does is impossibly excruciating”. HERO OF THE YEAR 1. Joe McElderry (60.4%) 2. Adele (24.2%) 3. Steps (6.7%) 4. One Direction (4.7%) 5. Cher Lloyd (4.0%) The amount of Joe McElderry fans from an array of fan forums who tried to vote more than once despite knowing that repeat votes would be automatically discarded really is quite something. Still, for coming back from a terminated record deal and shifting over 100,000 copies of a covers album in a matter of weeks, he is a worthy winner. BUT PLEASE, JOE. BACK TO POP NOW, YEAH? http://trashlounge.co.uk/2012/01/03/reader...11-the-results/ Edited January 3, 201213 yr by Sunday
January 3, 201213 yr Author Anyone who sees that man on stage should never feel uneasy about him leaving it all behind IMO Gill. :P he has his breaks and then he's back..it's the way it's always been and will always be i suppose. Hope you are right Bev. I think it was hearing him say in a recent interview that touring wasn't his favourite thing to do. Never heard him speak like that before and reminded me of him saying if he wasn't happy he'd walk away. Once he's had his well deserved break & he's back promoting I'm sure I'll feel less anxious. :) Thanks for the trashlounge results Sunday. Shame about the fan comments but at least they admit that Echoes is a 4/5 star album.
January 3, 201213 yr SO Essex Mag.. The byline on the front page will no doubt freak out a few people... Thought that front page looked familiar. January 3, 201213 yr Thanks Ros. Knowing it's probably just the same interview makes me feel better. :) Just found it using an app and it is the same one TT. Thanks for the cover Bev. Will's ability to give so many interviews amazes me - he's been spouting for months now on all manner of topics and still going strong! Hope he's got plenty more for the promo for March! :D Thanks for the trashlounge results Sunday, nice to see him there whether they think it was a bit contrived or not. He still wouldn't do so well if not for other people than us doing voting. Edited January 3, 201213 yr by ros
January 3, 201213 yr The press do seem to take his interviews and word them slightly differently and reuse them over again don't they? thanks Ros..another rehash then. Thanks for the trash lounge vote thingy Sunday, i had no clue there was a vote going on. had i known/ i would of voted..isn't that the whole point of these things? can't see a problem myself..it clearly says you could only vote once anyway on the Joe bit.
January 4, 201213 yr Author Thanks to Julie (will4me) THE SUN Published: Today at 01:37 RAPPER Professor Green has attacked Beeb bosses for knocking back Will Young as a judge on new singing show, The Voice. The rapper might be an unlikely supporter of the Pop Idol winner but they bonded on Sky Arts' The Jo Whiley Music Show. We told how Will was fuming after being lined up as a coach but then dropped at the 11th hour. Instead The Script's Danny O' Donohue — dubbed O'Dono-WHO on Twitter — was picked alongside Jessie J, Tom Jones and Will.I.Am. Pro Green said: "No one knows who Danny is. That's really s*** that they dumped Will for him. "He would have been perfect for that job. He really knows what he is talking about when it comes to making music... I liked him." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...-O-Donohue.html Edited January 4, 201213 yr by truly talented

January 4, 201213 yr Author Thanks TT :D This is an interesting tweets @lucyjfreeman I am standing behind Will Young in the queue for passport control! Been in SA a matter of hours & have already seen Will Young & 3 baboons! Mm I wonder. Thought he was on holiday but the album is out there the end of the month isn't it.
January 4, 201213 yr Makes a change for us to hear of him arriving somewhere as opposed to returning! Bet he'll fit something in re: work if he can.

January 4, 201213 yr This non story just popped up...im heartend that they keep writing about him though. :D SHAKY START FOR WILL YOUNG’S NEW YEAR SINGER Will Young has not had the best of starts to 2012. The aspiring actor, who invested and received a small part in Ralph Fiennes’s version of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, says his cameo has ended up on the cutting room floor because he “stuck out for all the wrong reasons”. The Pop Idol winner from 2002 won acclaim for his role in Mrs Henderson Presents, starring Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins, and describes his love of acting “as a world I’m fascinated by”. Will tells So Magazine that he was presented with an opportunity he couldn’t refuse: investing and starring alongside Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler and Vanessa Redgrave. “I wanted to be a part of this project,” says Will. “I put money in and I’ve a producing credit now.” However, it didn’t go to plan. “It was a small talking part but they took it out in the end. There were all these acting greats and then Will Young pops up to say a few lines. It just didn’t work. It wasn’t the character, it was me. It just stood out for all the wrong reasons,” says Will. Will, who is 33 this month, was also due to be one of the judges on the BBC’s new singing show The Voice but learnt he will be replaced by The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue.
