January 28, 20169 yr Author Great to hear Joy being played on Eurosport after the Australian tennis semi final. :yahoo: I miss the Friday's Child days when Will's music was often played during sporting events.
February 3, 20169 yr Author February very much a different working month for Will, focussing on giving something back. Will Young UK Health February 2, 2016 Will Young To Talk About Mental Health At National #StudentPride Posted By: LGBTnewswire.eu 0 Comments #StudentPride, Bisi Alimi, Greg Ussher, Hatti Smart, Jonny Benjamin, LGBT, LGBTQ, Matthew Todd, Munroe Bergdorf, National Student Pride, Olly Alexander, Taz-Edwards White, Thierry Houle-Graham, UK, Will Young Will Young recently made waves by speaking freely and openly about mental health. Speaking to Channel 4 News, his words on anxiety and low self-esteem will have ringed true with many young LGBT people. One in four of us will face mental health issues in our life. But the statistics are worryingly more acute for students. A recent study by the National Union of Students produced for parliament showed 4 in 5 students faced mental health issues in the last year. On top of the pressures, any student faces – imagine also being LGBT. Another report by the NUS’s LGBT arm in 2014 showed that 1 in 5 students face homophobia and 1 in 3 face transphobia. That’s why we at Student Pride are so pleased to announce such a huge advocate for the LGBT community Will Young as a panelist at our event this year. We truly believe, talking about mental health, as Ruby Wax tweeted and picked up upon yesterday – inspires hope in the lives of so many. Speaking about the vital, but difficult topic at National Student Pride on February 6th at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone campus, opposite Baker Street, Will Young will be joining Matthew Todd – Attitude Magazine Editor (Chair) Jonny Benjamin – Mental Health Activist, Think Well founder and documentary producer Taz-Edwards White – LGBT Adult Mental Health & Wellbeing Coordinator At Metro Bisi Alimi – Nigerian LGBT Activist Munroe Bergdorf – Trans Activist and DJ Speaking about the announcement Thierry Houle-Graham said: “I am literally SO excited about Will Young coming to National Student Pride. I can’t wait to hear what he has to say about mental health. Just like the message of the whole weekend which is all about sharing stories and growing as a community I know Will will inspire hope and that people with mental health struggle no longer need to be afraid of the stigma around them” Jonny Benjamin was going to take his life before a ‘“ stranger on a bridge” stopped him. Speaking ahead of Student Pride, he said “Struggling with my sexuality was one of the factors that led me to nearly jumping from a bridge when I was 20. Luckily I was talked out of what I was about to do but there are countless others who aren’t” Whether it’s Jonny’s account, Olly Alexander talking so openly about his mental health in Attitude Magazine and Dan Beeson’s account on Gay Star News or Will Young speaking this weekend – National Student Pride have opened up their event to talk about the issues of mental health – because every account shows we’ve heard shows how talking, makes all the difference. When 48% of trans people in the UK under 26 have attempted suicide because of discrimination they suffer and mental health charity Re-Think statistics show gay and bisexual men are four times more likely to commit suicide than the rest of the population – it’s time to stand together on this one. Metro CEO Dr Greg Ussher said: “based on a 7,000 strong survey of young people – we know that LGBTQ+ young people are disproportionately affected by mental health issues – 42% of LGBTQ respondents reported going for medical help for depression or anxiety, compared to 29% of heterosexual non-trans respondents. “The reasons for this are complex, but factors include: bullying and lack of support for our schools – 65% of LGBTQ+ young people think their school supported its pupils badly in respect of sexuality or gender identity; lack of stability – nearly one in ten LGBTQ+ young people reported they have to leave home for reasons relating to their sexuality or gender identity.” Hatti Smart, Student Pride co-chair said: “This year, National Student Pride will be placing a real emphasis on mental health, that affect LGBT youth disproportionately to their peers. It’s time we stood together as a community on this and just as we broke down the prejudice on being gay, bi and trans – start the conversation on taking the taboo out of mental health” Photo by Mercury Press/Splash News/ Corbis Read more: http://mysocalledgaylife.co.uk/pub/2016/02.../#ixzz3z3vVKmv2 Follow us: @mscgluk on Twitter

March 22, 20169 yr Author http://www.abergavennychronicle.com/images/news/2016/Will-Young(AH).JPG Abergavenny mum of two Katie Bailey had the shock of her life when pop singer/songwriter Will Young called in at her father’s garage for a coffee and some new tennis balls for his dog. Katie, company secretary at Bailey’s Garage on Brecon Road, would normally have been working in the back office but had just returned from the bank and was in the shop on Monday lunchtime when the ex-X Factor star walked in. “I didn’t recognise him at first because I remember him as being baby-faced but Kirsty, who works on the bakery section, spotted him straight away,” she said. “I asked him if I could have a selfie and he said ‘yes’ but he needed the loo first so I hung around outside! One of my colleagues said I looked like a stalker. “We had a nice conversation after that. He was really lovely. “He said he was on his way to Hay to a studio where he writes and he’d dropped in to get some tennis balls for his dog because he kept losing them. “We discussed the weather I think but I can’t remember much else. I was too stunned! “The customers in the shop and on the forecourt were stunned too. “He did another selfie with my colleague Adam Fury then he left with his coffee. “He was dressed like Where’s Wally - in a striped blue and white T-shirt, a beanie-style bobble hat, rolled up jeans and Doc Martins. “I noticed he had mud all over his shoes - and the blue Audi he was driving was muddy too. Maybe he’d been out walking the dog somewhere in the countryside. “I’ve heard he has a brother living around here.” Katie, who’s 28, has worked at her father’s garage since she was 15. She has a six-year-old daughter Lily May and two-year-old son Charlie. “I can’t remember anyone famous calling in here before. Meeting a star like that’s the highlight of my life,” she said. Since her Dad put the selfie out on Facebook it’s reached 7,000 people and counting Dare we get excited at thought of studio time. :w00t:

April 7, 20169 yr Author Really glad he isn't taking a break from the music. :yahoo: Could we be getting Echoes part 2? Everytime Will disses Cowell or X Factor he goes further up in my estimation. There couldn't be two people more different. Will has more integrity in his little finger than Cowell has in his whole body. Edited April 7, 20169 yr by truly talented
