Retro Track Of The Week

 

Hmm... I have a few choices. There is China In Your Hand, but that's only because of X-Factor. The inspiration for this one has to come from my own randomness. :D

 

So... Shakira - Don't Bother

I have gained a little bit of a re affection for this one this week. It's one of my favourite Shakira songs. The bit where she says 'Don't Bother, I'll be fine' gets me every time. :cry: :) Had a winter walk with this (I've recently purchased my first iPod, a 160GB Classic, and this has come up quite a bit.

And The Saturdays get their first #1 since... about this time last year with Higher (which is one of my backdated number 1s, but NEVER MIND). The fact it sounds quite like Alexis Jordan has NOTHING, NOTHING I repeat, to do with it topping my chart a couple of days after hearing it. :kink: I've got the album, but I chose to give it (and Headlines and Chasing Lights) to my brother for a Christmas present. So I have to wait almost a month before I've got a proper version on my iTunes. But it's too good to miss out on.

 

And then there is Storytime. Until a few weeks ago, I only knew of Nightwish through epic-sounding track off Century Child known as End Of All Hope. I have since had a Nightwish reawakening, and Storytime, with all it's symphonic brilliance, goes right in after Faster.

 

Farewell moves up to the top 10. I'm a real sucker for any RiRi ballad.

 

Diamonds And Waste was my favourite of the 12 tracks that failed to qualify in BJSC XL. It gets a #12 on my chart as a bit of a commiseration. Also, note Best Kept Secret and Hunting Season further down. Stay tuned next week for more action on that front.

 

Also, Take Care is fairly great.

16. It sounded so nothingy at first. It's great for a rather subtle track, really like it now though.

23. Heh, it'll probably stabilise next week. I was obsessed with it for one week, then it's gone. Probably my worst #1 run though since Twenty Twenty way back in April, or was it Kesha?

2. I've forgotten to check out the album :drama:. I'll do that at some point! Once and Dark Passion Play are rather good though, so I'm definitely getting it at some point.

28. I haven't got the album. Down For Whatever kind of disappointed me when Commander and her other tracks are so much better in comparison.

1. :lol: I love this sort of thing. Whatever Alexis comes back with, I'll be happy with, but I'd like to see a bit of artistic progression too. Hopefully something to ward off the 'boring' comments at the very least. It is already one of my favourite Saturdays tracks though. It should definitely become a single , and I haven't heard the rest of the album yet.

16. I think it's Drake's best solo track as well, which makes it all the more pleasing to see it doing well.

17. Well, the album isn't the greatest, but it's not that bland for me, about half of it is really worth listening too. Arms and Jar Of Hearts are the standouts, but Bang Bang Bang, The Lonely, Bluebird, and Mine are all great songs as well. I'll give you the other half, the rest are quite bland.

19. I also can't see anyone else on Sound Of who I'm that excited about. I really hope Azealia can beat Skrillex to the top. I can't recall hearing any of the other acts who might be good, though.

23. Friends is a really good track, and for me, her best. Still over it quite a bit now. The album has a nice sound to it.

29. Changed The Way You Kiss Me is still his best for me, but Midnight Run is rather close behind it, probably equal with all the ones from his first album now. It's definitely a very interesting track.

 

Indeed. I prefer Don't Bother to Hips Don't Lie, just about, although both are great.

If The Saturdays go back to the days of "Up" and "Just Can't Get Enough" sound then I'll love them. Their recent album is a total trash imo.
