I'm a big Will fan, I've been reading these forums and I'm hearing a lot of support for "Silent Valentine" being the 3rd single. In my own opinion, I can't see Silent Valentine doing anything for this album. That's not saying it's not a good song, it is, but judging by the chart performance of Come On I can't see it doing much good for the album's sales.

 

For me (And this is all purely my own opinion, ha ha) I feel that the ideal choice for the 3rd single would be Safe From Harm. The reason for this is it's unlike anything he's released before. People who are Will Young fans will buy his album no matter what's released, and I felt that Come On possibly catered to his fans too much. The singles are there (especially a 3rd single) mainly to convert people who otherwise wouldn't buy the album.

I feel to ensure a boost in sales for the album, he'd need to release something a little bit different, when you consider how diverse the album is, this shouldn't be a hard task.

 

The album's doing fantastically well, but I feel that a single like Safe From Harm will do wonders for this album.

Hi RMD, Personally I'm not sure that safe from harm is a good 3rd choice..of course who knows what is the song of the album? it could be SFH after all..for me i would like SV because i love it and i think it would do well..but Will just now on Ustream has said that at the moment Runaway was his fave from Echoes..so it might be that next. I also love I just want a lover and would love that as a single too. there are just os many choices. I'm chuffed the album is doing so well for him, another platinum album..it's quite an achievement after ten years. :dance:

I like Silent Valentine but I can see what you mean. I would like Will to release a track that appeals to a younger audience, possibly Safe from Harm,( like Jealousy did) , but I think he tailors his releases to what radio 2 will play as he rarely receives good support from commercial radio. :(

I like Safe From Harm but it's highly inlikely it's going to be the 3rd single as it's too "Bronski Beat", I think there's 3 main contenders and I think they're Losing Myself, Runaway and I Just Want A lover, hopefully. B-)

Thank you for all the responses. The beautiful thing about the creative arts, is that it's all so very subjective, this album's wonderful in the fact that so many people passionately love different songs, rather than everyone having a clear favourite and not caring as much for the rest.

I honestly think that he could release any song from the album as a single, except, perhaps, for Outsider. I'd personally love to see Safe From Harm released, because it's my favourite song by a mile, but I'd be pleased if he released something like I Just Want A Lover.

Your right with this i think, I think a very unique new sound would be Personal Thunder. How about that for a single? :D

Now I don't think it matters too much what he releases next. The promo lifts his profile and people keep buying. And his back catalogue is being bought all the time in steady amounts. Last time I looked he'd sold another 60k of his old stuff since June 2011.

I know it's all about Album sales really so Whatever sells the most is alright by me..how to guess that though?

I'd be happy most with, Silent Valentine, I just want a lover, Personal Thunder Also Hearts on Fire and Runaway :D

 

RMD i forgot to ask you if you had seen Will on the Echoes tour? he did sing Safe from Harm then but stopped after a couple of shows, perhaps to him it didn't translate well live? perhaps that might hinder it from being a single? of course i could be totally wrong about that but he did drop it from the set list.

No, unfortunately I've never seen him live, each tour he's had I've either not known about or it's been near impossible to make it. I hope to amend this on is next tour, ha ha.

 

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said so far, it's brilliant that everyone wants a different single though, just shows how strong the album is. I'd agree that Personal Thunder could be an epic choice of single!

Personal Thunder is possibly my favourite track on the album but I don't see it as a single. My single choices would be Hearts on Fire, Losing Myself, Runnaway, I Just Want a Lover. Getting greedy I know. :lol:

 

Hope you do manage to get to see Will live soon RMD. From the upstream last night it sounds as if he has something planned for the summer.

I adore this album and think there are so many choices so agree with all mentioned. I think Good Things would be a contender too!
