Possibly the most annoying popstar this year, she has undeniable talent as proved in this song. If she stopped her annoying vocal tics when live and never spoke/changed her hair/dress sense then I could almost love her.

Yes, I know it's Dappy, but this is actually a good song, no matter how cheesy it it (THAT KEY CHANGE) and how much of a tosser the singer is.

 

92. ELLIE GOULDING - Lights [uK Peak - 49] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

The relative floppage of this song baffles me, it's easily the best she's done. Unfair!

 

91. KELLY ROWLAND - Down For Whatever [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

Definition of generic, but yet I still can't help but like the song. I'm surprised she managed to get a hit after acting such a tit on X-Factor.

90. JLS ft TINIE TEMPAH - Eyes Wide Shut [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

My favourite song they've ever released, helped along by the rapper of the moment. Yes, it steals from Calvin Harris/Chris Brown, but who cares when it's this good?!

 

89. KELLY CLARKSON - Mr. Know It All [uK Peak - 4] [My Peak - 7]

 

 

I'm still surprised at how well this did, because I see it as nice enough, but it's a little boring for a lead single.

 

88. ALEX GAUDINO ft KELLY ROWLAND - What A Feeling [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

A perfeect summer dance song, I thought this would re-ignite Kelly's career but the song got old. Fast. Just like her personality on the X-Factor.

 

87. RIZZLE KICKS - Down With The Trumpets [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

A song that just came from nowhere, I really love the silliness of the song. Unfortunately their follow-ups were lacklustre. "Mama Do The Hump" is one of the worst songs I've heard in a while.

 

86. ALEXANDRA STAN - Mr Saxobeat [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Is this Inna? Oh. Another identikit Romanian Dance one-hit wonder but a catchy one at that.

I've finally come round to Coldplay and this song was the main reason why. Chris Martin is an incredible writer and they truly deserve their massive success.

 

84. AMY WINEHOUSE - Our Day Will Come [uK Peak - 29] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

Oh Amy. I was heartbroken on discovering her death and after hearing this song I actually had hopes for the album. Unfortunately the album was rubbish but we have this sweet memory of you left.

 

83. PROFESSOR GREEN ft EMELI SANDE - Read All About It [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

I've hated Pro Green for the last couple of years but I changed my mind with this song, which was mainly due to Emeli's stunning chorus.

 

82. EXAMPLE - Stay Awake [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 7]

 

 

Nowhere near as good as his debut, Example continued to dominate the UK chart with his dance-rap. I would like him a lot more without his rude Twitter rants.

 

81. ED SHEERAN - The A Team [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

I really liked this before everywhere overplayed it. I now don't really understand the hype, but this remains a decent song.

80. OLLY MURS - Dance With Me Tonight [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

Incredibly cheesy, but it was such a fun song, it did the best of his career on my chart. Shame he seems such a twat in real life.

 

79. CHRIS BROWN - Yeah 3X [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 11]

 

 

This is where Chris Brown excels, doing dance-pop songs as his more urban material is so average. Another odious individual who produces records I actually like.

 

78. NICKI MINAJ ft DRAKE - Moment 4 Life [uK Peak - 22] [My Peak - 7]

 

 

Nicki's 2nd entry and it's a pretty average mid-tempo rap track. The stunning and funny video more than makes up for it.

 

77. DAVID GUETTA ft USHER - Without You [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

This euphoric anthem is one of the stand outs on Guetta's album, along with the similar "Titanium".

 

76. SUGABABES - Freedom [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

This is getting embarrassing now. This poor excuse of a song should not be so high up and it is a fitting signal that Sugababes really should call it a day now.

 

75. WILLOW - 21st Century Girl [uK Peak - 91] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

Not quite sure why this flopped, I thought it was decent enough. "Fireball" however, is hideous.

 

74. DRAKE ft RIHANNA - Take Care [uK Peak - 9] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

There's something quite spooky and depressing about this song that I just love and Rihanna's detached vocals add wondefully to it.

 

73. KE$HA - We R Who We R [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1 (2010)]

 

 

Last year's number 11, this is a rare example of songs that chart in two years. It really is her defining song and I still love it.

 

72. PITBULL ft NE-YO & NAYER - Give Me Everything (Tonight) [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

You literally could not escape this song this year. It's good enough for a generic club banger but I never want to hear it again.

 

71. LMFAO ft LAUREN BENNET - Party Rock Anthem [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

Another inescapable club monster, this pair was responisble for one of the year's worst songs in "Sexy & I Know It". GO AWAY.

70. BRUNO MARS - Grenade [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

One of his better songs, I find I can no longer listen due to excessive playing. The lyrics are still the best part of the song.

 

69. THE WANTED - Lightning [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

The Wanted became really good this year singles-wise, it's a shame their album was disappointing. Catchy as an STD.

 

68. BEYONCE - Run The World (Girls) [uK Peak - 11] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

Amazing video, but the song is not one of B's best, relying too heavily on the Major Lazer sample.

 

67. ADELE - Set Fire To The Rain [uK Peak - 11] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

The musical heavyweight of 2011, this was perhaps her best offering but suffered due to simply too much Adele!

 

66. NATALIA KILLS - Mirrors [uK Peak - 190] [My Peak - 8]

 

 

I really thought she was the next big thing... this shows she has potential to be a darker, more urban Gaga?

65. RIHANNA - You Da One [uK Peak - 16] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

More of a 2012 singles, I fell in love with this instantly. It didnt last long before it became soooo annoying unfortunately.

 

64. NICKI MINAJ ft RIHANNA - Fly [uK Peak - 16] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Nicki's 3rd entry and god did Radio hammer this. The video's excellent and the song is above average. Rihanna adds nothing really.

 

63. GYM CLASS HEROES ft ADAM LEVINE - Stereo Hearts [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

I loved this when I first heard it, still think it's one of the better urban songs of this year. Wish they'd given Adam a middle 8 as well though.

 

62. BRITNEY SPEARS - Criminal [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Best video of the "Femme Fatale" era, this song got nowhere near the attention it deserved. I LOVE BRITNEY.

 

61. CALVIN HARRIS - Feels So Close [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Definitely the classiest dance song of 2012, this had me raving all summer!

60. SELENA GOMEZ & THE SCENE - Love You Like A Love Song [uK Peak - 58] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

Her best song since "Naturally", this deserved to do so much better! The video's cute as well.

 

59. ADELE - Someone Like You [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

Probably expected to be higher than this, I fully appreciate the quality of the song but I never want to hear it again.

 

58. PIXIE LOTT - All About Tonight [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

Such a basic song for such a basic popstar, her success baffles me. But this is catchy throwaway pop at its best.

 

57. CLARE MAGUIRE - The Last Dance [uK Peak - 23] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

This song is amazing, Clare's deep magnificent voice is stunningly unique. So why wasn't this successful?! I hate the UK charts sometimes.

 

56. BRUNO MARS - Marry You [uK Peak - 11] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

Bruno's best song by a mile, why isn't there a video for this? I'm still not entirely sure what he sings in the chorus, but who cares?

55. ENRIQUE IGLESIAS ft LUDACRIS - Tonight (I'm F***ing You) [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

It's a shame Enrique had to change his sound to remain popular and this really is generic. Can't help but have a little boogie to it though.

Incredibly infectious and with Kelis' soulful tones, this was another of my summer favourites.

What an incredibly silly video for an incredibly silly song. It's still amazing.

Before the annoying advert, this was one of my favourite Jenny songs. I thought it would be big as On The Floor. I was wrong.

I fully expected this to be higher, they really make the best mainstream dubstep. This song is a TUNE.

50. LANA DEL REY - Video Games [uK Peak - 9] [My Peak - 5]

 

 

Ah this is something special. Set to be absolutely massive in 2012, I just love her cold voice and yes, even that infamous pout.

 

49. WILL YOUNG - Come On [uK Peak - 83] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

I love Will and it is criminal that this song underperformed. Definition of classic British pop and the video is just sublime.

 

48. RIHANNA ft DRAKE - What's My Name [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

I loved this song at the beginning of the year and now it sets my teeth on edge. Her hair looks amazing in the video though.

 

47. THE SATURDAYS - Notorious [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

Jumping on the dance-pop bandwagon, this is decent enough. A little too much auto-tune for my liking.

 

46. ADELE - Rolling In The Deep [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

There's no denying that this is song is just brilliant. The soaring vocals, the soul background, it's also very unique.

 

 

45. NICOLA ROBERTS - Yo-Yo [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Poor, floppy Nicola. I swear most people don't even know this song exists. It should have least been Top 10. *sob*

 

44. NICOLE SCHERZINGER ft 50 CENT - Right There [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

First appearance for Nicole, the most urban single from her debut. I like it, but the styling in the video is hideous.

 

43. DJ FRESH - Louder [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 4]

 

 

Another surprising UK number one, this isn't as good as Gold Dust, but it's still pretty amazing, especially the fast bit at the end.

 

42. THE SATURDAYS - My Heart Takes Over [uK Peak - 15] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

God knows how this got so high for such an average ballad. They should have released White Lies instead!

 

41. NATALIA KILLS - Wonderland [uK Peak - n/a] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

Brilliant, underrated song. Bit of a pretentious video. We probably won't see her again next year.

40. ONE DIRECTION - What Makes You Beautiful [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

Far better than it had any right to be, this great slice of summer pop established One Direction as one of the best UK boybands. JLS who?

Probably my favourite Jessie song, she manages to ruin it live. Amazing.

Definitely better than Swagger Jagger this set up the actually excellent album. Sugar sweet pop with yet anoter useless feature.

B's highest entry on this chart, it's basically Irreplaceable pt.2. Nice enough but Love On Top's better.

Hitting number one on a quiet week, this one of Ri's weaker singles but somehow everything she releases gets wedged in my brain. (Apart from Man Down)

There's something so euphoric about this song, perfect choice as lead single from the album. I just can't seeing him being long-term popular.

Just amazing. Video, song, popstar. Everything is right about this release. I LOVE FLORENCE.

And so the Gaga domination begins. Her second weakest release ever, this scored highly on my chart because of the fantastic video and well, simply because it's Gaga.

Yes, it may be an "Only Girl" rip-off, but what a fabulous one it is! Fact: I dance like a skank to this in a club.

One of my favourites of the year and with a beautiful video, this just does not get old. Shame the album didn't live up to this fantastic lead single.

Definitely a Marmite song, I happened to love it at the time, I still question whether it should have been the lead single though.

I'm really not sure how this ended so high up. It's an average R&B summer song, but it's quite boring.

Ahh this is fun and Nicki's rap is just flawless. I know it's not really different to any of Guetta's work but I can't help but like it.

I thought this was going to be massive. It's by no means her best work, but I still really like it, as it's dancey but not tacky.

I prefer Avril's moodier stuff, but this is decent enough. Unfortunately the album was DREADFUL and I'm not sure her career can recover.

"Teenage Dream" was my favourite album of last year and she continued her chart rule with this song which is made 100x better by it's awesome video.

 

22. NICOLA ROBERTS - Lucky Day [uK Peak - 40] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

WAHWAHWAHWAH! Amazing.

 

21. LABRINTH ft TINIE TEMPAH - Earthquake [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

A million times better than "Let The Sun Shine", this showcases two of Britain's finest urban stars.

20. KATY B - Broken Record [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

Katy's highest entry and it's one of my anthems of the year. Cool, fresh and with a 90s house vibe, it's ultimately refreshing.

 

19. RIHANNA - S&M [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

A needlessly controversial video, but this song ignites dancefloors and has thus become a nightclub staple. I like it like it.

 

18. MAROON 5 ft CHRISTINA AGUILERA - Moves Like Jagger [uK Peak - 2] [My Peak - 6]

 

 

The longevity of this song never fails to amaze me. It's more than a little annoying now, but I still love Xtina's middle 8.

Fabulous video, this was the highlight of the Femme Fatale tour.

It's very rare that a boyband gets so high on my charts, but this is a TUNE, if a little brainless.

15. BLACK EYED PEAS - Just Can't Get Enough [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

The only decent thing to come from the dreadful "The Beginning" album, I much prefer BEP at mid-tempo.

 

14. CHER LLOYD - Swagger Jagger [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

The marmite song of the year, I happen to quite love it. I love it's abrasiveness and the nursery rhyme chorus. GET ON THE FLOOR!

 

13. NICKI MINAJ - Super Bass [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

This was always going to be Nicki's highest charting song. It's amazing to rap along to. Much better than her harder stuff.

 

12. MARINA & THE DIAMONDS - Radioactive [uK Peak - 25] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

This should have been MASSIVE. Absolutely love Marina and although this was an unexpected direction, it WORKS.

 

11. BRITNEY SPEARS - Hold It Against Me [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

The best dubstep breakdown of the year, this was a triumphant comeback single.

10. JENNIFER LOPEZ ft PITBULL - On The Floor [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

Surprise hit of the year, one of the best "in-the-club" anthems. And that sample is criminally amazing.

 

09. THE SATURDAYS - All Fired Up [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

Continuing their run of amazing second singles, this Xenomania masterpiece has pretty been my third year anthem at uni!

 

08. LADY GAGA - Born This Way [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

It's not Express Yourself. I think this has probably aged the worse out of the BTW singles. Still pretty ace.

 

07. RIHANNA ft CALVIN HARRIS - We Found Love [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

The best euphoric dance breakdown of the year, this should be a couple of places higher.

 

06. LADY GAGA - Judas [uK Peak - 8] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

The much maligned Judas, I do actually love this although it maybe shouldn't have been a single. Best video of the BTW era however.

05. KATY PERRY ft KANYE WEST - E.T. [uK Peak - 3] [My Peak - 3]

 

 

My favourite song from the Teenage Dream album and for once, the feature actually improves the song. Another flawless video too.

 

04. LADY GAGA - Marry The Night [uK Peak - 16] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

This should have been the lead single for Born This Way. Absolutely amazing and the breakdown at the end makes my life.

 

03. NICOLE SCHERZINGER - Don't Hold Your Breath [uK Peak - 1] [My Peak - 2]

 

 

What a good old-fashioned pop song. Best thing Nicole's ever put her name too, excluding I Hate This Part.

 

02. LADY GAGA - The Edge Of Glory [uK Peak - 6] [My Peak - 1]

 

 

Gaga's highest entry and possibly my favourite of her entire career. I love every part of it, even the saxophone. Apart from the video. My god the awful video!

 

So that leave us with our number one, who for the first time since 2009 is NOT Lady Gaga...
