July 2, 201213 yr When are you seeing him munchkin? Oops - sorry I didn't reply Ros. I've already seen him - my only one - at Thetford. Luckily for us it didn't rain but it was bloody cold  Subsequently found out through Tweets that Matthew Caine and Aaron were there too.
July 5, 201212 yr WE ARE in the middle of the festival season. Bob Dylan, Sir Bruce Forsyth and Ray Davies have been singing at the Hop Farm. Billy Ocean, Steps and Jools Holland are booked for Rochester Castle. Olly Murs is playing Thanet. But my favourite has always been Canterbury's three-day Lounge on the Farm music festival in a field, which kicks off tomorrow (Friday). It is one of the more civilised festivals, with locally-grown beef-burgers, deadly home-brewed cider and an eclectic line-up of musicians. Some, like disco band Chic and Dexys Midnight Runners (now just Dexys), I have heard of. Others, like Slow Club, Hooray For Earth and Amp and Deck (clever name), are a mystery. It was not like that last Saturday. There had been a choice between watching Will Young outdoors at Bedgebury Pinetum or celebrating soul and blues band Rubber Biscuit's 20th birthday bash indoors at Whitstable's East Quay. I think my Twitter comments summed up the mood: 8.05pm: Mrs Nurden has won. We are now in a field waiting for Will Young. Deep joy. 8.06pm: There is a Welsh lass singing. Bet no one else is having this much fun. 8.07pm: I am playing double-bluff with the weather. I am wearing green wellies. That should stop it raining. 8.08pm: I have all my layers of clothes on, and I'm still cold. Not even dark. 8.09pm: It must be really horrible back in Whitstable in the warm for Rubber Biscuit's birthday bash. 8.10pm: I have eaten four doughnuts. 8.30pm: I am sure Will Young would be more fun if it was held on a midsummer night in June. 8.31pm: Forgot. It is! So why am I so cold? 8.32pm: Mrs Nurden is so excited she is reading her Kindle. 8.33pm: There is a long queue for the loo. 8.45pm: The Welsh lass has stopped singing. Perhaps the night's going to be OK after all. 8.50pm: Mrs Nurden has put her hood up and her gloves on. She has offered me her woolly hat. Do I? 8.55pm: The good news: no queue for the gents' urinals. Bad News: the women can see in. 8.56pm: Sadly, I am coveting my neighbour's cagoule 8.58pm: My camera won't work. It is automatically searching for a smile. No chance. 8.59pm: Weather report: the depression over Bedgebury has gone into the beer tent and is feeling better. 9pm: Are those spots of rain I can feel? 9.10pm: Sonic boom of bass and unexpected screams. Will Young is on stage – a very long way away. 9.11pm: That's it. It's raining. Will Young singing Walk Away. So tempted. 9.15pm: Men standing still. Women wearing blankets and dancing. Mrs Nurden moving down front to "have a look." 10pm: Will Young singing Jealousy and glowing green. Hope it's part of the act. Actually a stonking show. Well done, Forestry Commission! July 5, 201212 yr Pleased he thought it was stonking but why the praise for the FC and not Will and the band  Thanks Sunday - it takes all sorts.

July 8, 201212 yr Thanks munchkin. Super tweets. Can anyone tweet that Hena Hashmi @HBoss back, to tell him that Will always sings live - he wouldn't sing any other way.
July 8, 201212 yr That's the wettest i have ever been at a concert but it was absolutely brilliant the crowd were totally up for it everyone dancing, Echoes was certainly made for concerts, also i have never seen such big queues outside a concert within minutes of the gates opening the venues seemed to be 2 thirds full :D I Just Want a Lover jmIaYQQWs-M Runaway F1GFNGn0K3E Jealousy r__NSrMXGRA

Was it wet?! But what a wonderful night! :yahoo: Magnificent job Sunday getting all these brilliant reminders of such an amazing atmospheric night. :cheer: So clever of you to think of recording from the screens, I did think last night that people further back would have a very good view of what was happening on stage!
