December 19, 201113 yr I wonder if his holiday could start at the end of March, the voice starts at the beginning of april he could then promote the single and go away and avoid the voice and that would fit in with him probably not being able to see the nortern lights...then return for summer dates. With my logical head on this morning this seems much more likely. Will said he had a busy year but then he thought he had The Voice. This not materialising has given him the opportunity for an extended break. I thik the change in date is unrelated, may be down to better promo opportunities.
December 20, 201113 yr Author Tuesday, 20 December 2011 Will Young - Losing Myself If you'd have asked someone a few years ago if they'd ever have thought Will Young would re-invent himself as an angelic synth-pop artist, you'd probably have been greeted with silence. But that's exactly what Will managed to achieve this year, and it's resulted not only in some of the best material of his career, but some of the best pop music around at the moment. Where previous singles Jealousy and Come On felt futuristic and reflective, new track Losing Myself has its feet set firmly in the 80s. The production is pure bliss and Will's soulful vocals suit it perfectly. This could easily be something off a late 80s George Michael album, but imbued with all the maturity and electronic glory of something New Order or Depeche Mode would have been proud to call their own. Some people dismiss electronic music as cold and dispassionate, but Losing Myself is wrapped up in such warmth, such delicacy and nuance of emotion that it packs the intensity of any hard-wrought campfire ballad. As 2011 turns into 2012, Will Young has proven yet again he stands as an artist of continuing relevancy and one of the prime examples that reality TV prodigies can be forces for good in music. Losing Myself is released on the 19th March. http://www.totallyvivid.com/
December 20, 201113 yr Cracking review. . Is that the first? So hope it gets the commercial radio support it deserves.
December 20, 201113 yr Oh my word - what a great review. And I love Losing Myself - as he says it's got a great vibe. Loved it on tour (but then I love the whole album  )
December 20, 201113 yr Radio Creme Brulee tweeted tonight that Losing Myself is getting 4/5 plays a day on their station (a US internet one) so they obviously like it on there then.

Absolutely love it. Would love Will to release it but fear it may be a step too far with him mainly relying on radio 2 and the likes for airplay. If only.....

December 31, 201113 yr WHY is it not 'Runaway', what are they doing?! :banghead: That song should've been the rightful follow-up to 'Jealousy', and now they're not even releasing it third?!
December 31, 201113 yr WHY is it not 'Runaway', what are they doing?! :banghead: That song should've been the rightful follow-up to 'Jealousy', and now they're not even releasing it third?! There's been great feedback for both Losing Myself and Runaway so maybe Runaway will be the 4th single. :)
January 18, 201213 yr I wanted Happy Now, Hearts on Fire or Silent Valentine but Losing Myself is perfect.
January 19, 201213 yr I like the choice, but I would be lying it I didn't say I think Runaway is so much better. Best track on the album in fact.
January 21, 201213 yr Author Will Young: Losing Myself (New Music) 2011 was quite the comeback year for Will Young. His fifth studio album Echoes topped the charts and has since gone platinum, and it scored him his first Top 5 hit in five years with the release of the tremendous Jealousy. What happened next therefore came as a bit of a surprise. Young’s follow up single, the equally impressive rendition of Kish Mauve’s Come On, crashed and burned on the UK singles chart, peaking at #83 and subsequently became his lowest chart placing to date. Of course the most likely reason for the poor performance was the large volume of albums he was selling in the run up to Christmas but it still doesn’t sit too well with me that one of his most notable releases, is also his least commercially recognised. It’s now been announced that the third single to be taken from Echoes will be the track Losing Myself, which Young co-wrote with Pascal Gabriel. Gabriel has a pedigree in electronic pop, having made a name for himself in the eighties working alongside Erasure and Debbie Harry, but more recently he has written and produced some of the most innovative electropop albums of the last five years, working alongside Marina & The Diamonds, Little Boots, Goldfrapp and Ladyhawke. The eighties influences in this brilliant synthpop track are in abundance, and it’s another fantastic single choice that continues to push Young up in my estimations. Before this album I never really understood his appeal to anyone below a certain age, but this new direction suits him down to the ground. Losing Myself is pencilled in for a 19 March release date. http://there-view.tumblr.com/post/16227977...g-losing-myself
January 21, 201213 yr Thanks Sunday - just been reading this over on D. Of course the most likely reason for the poor performance was the large volume of albums he was selling in the run up to Christmas I agree with this - his singles don't seem to do as well as the first release do they.
January 21, 201213 yr Great review. Thank Sunday. :D I'll add it to the singles review thread. Strange how Will only seems to receive good commercial radio support for his first single, no matter how well that single does. Shame that it isn't the same for other artists.
