Posted December 15, 201113 yr So standard really, run down of my top 100 songs of the year, pretty much based on my chart, but will have some songs moved around based on how much I actualy liked them come the end of the year. Let's Kick things off then :D 100. Avril Lavigne- Smile KagvExF-ijc&ob=av2e Martyn Chart: {3}-12-24-20-27-30-32 UK Chart Peak: 178 USA: Chart Peak: 68 Flopped hard in the UK, but I still enjoy Smile, mainly for the chorus though, the verses aren't brilliant though. December 15, 201113 yr Author 99. Ell/Nikki- Running Scared yyVBFxrGxVk&ob=av2n Martyn Chart: {2}-5-12-19-26-37 UK Peak: 61 One of just two Eurovision finalists and three Eurovision 2011 related songs in the Top 100. The next closest to cracking the Top 100 was Twiins- I'm Still Alive at #113. The winner of this years Eurovision. The entry from Azerbaijan was one of my favourites from the contest, although you will see much later on who I think should have won.
December 15, 201113 yr Author 98. Eric Saade Featuring J-Son- Hearts In The Air W7En5BqIWDQ Martyn Chart: 16-{7}-20-17-20-38-39-35-37-35-36 Sverigetopplistan Peak: 2 Actualy charting lower than the previous two entries is the first of several entries from Sweden's Eric Saade. Heart's In The Air, featuring an unessasry rap from J-Son (yep I've never heard of him either). This song is alright, not his best by a long shot, as you shall see later on.
December 16, 201113 yr Author 97. Rebecca Black- Friday kfVsfOSbJY0 Martyn Chart: 28-17-18-22-27-{13}-35-X-38-39-40-X-X-X-X-X-X-34-30-40-39 UK Chart: 61-{60}-62-72 What can I say about Friday that hasn't been said already. It will probably go down as one of the songs of 2011, just for the sheer hate it's generated since it went viral. Whatever everyone else thinks about it, I still have a slight love for Friday. Rebecca Black will never top Friday, although Person Of Interest may come close. One more thing... IT'S FRIDAY FRIDAY! GOTTA GET DOWN ON FRIDAY! Edited December 16, 201113 yr by Martyn
December 16, 201113 yr Author Moving on now 96. Olly Murs- Dance With Me Tonight F3EG4olrFjY&ob Martyn Chart: 20-22-23-15-10-{2}-3-10* *Still Charting 95. Jessica Mauboy Featuring Ludacris- Saturday Night zeBqpqdBXAc&ob Martyn Chart: {6}-7-13-26-17-30-33 Two very diffrent songs up now. Both are second singles from second albums as well. Dance With Me Tonight, the follow up to Heart Skips a Beat (still to come), was the second consecuative top 3 hit on my chart for Olly, with a much improved sound from his second album, a massive step up from his debut. Saturday Night was the follow to the hot mess of a track Get 'Em Girls. As you can tell from the video at least $AU30 was spent making the video. Saturday Night contined the more edegy clubby sound from Jessica, quite a change from the sound of her debut album. (I am ignoring the exsistance of the album which was just live recordings of her Idol songs). Expect to see more of Jessica later on as well!
December 19, 201113 yr Author Back on with this now! 94. Yasmin- On My Own lsNBQJEofQM&ob Martyn Chart: 27-18-{2}-7-14-22 93. Erik Hassle- Are You Leaving? 41P9Ut3BUqE Martyn Chart: 20-{7}-15-27-21-30-30-X-X-25-37
December 19, 201113 yr Author 92. Jason Derulo- It Girl 4oGUHRXT-wA&ob= Martyn Chart: 35-22-20-{18}-19-22-25-25-31-33 Despite only peaking at 18, It Girl hung around for ages. So creaps into the top 100 of the yeat at #92. The chorus is the best bit about this song, which is really let down by the verses. It's a good thing Jason Derulo is fit though as otherwise no one would care about his songs :P
December 19, 201113 yr Author 91. Natalia Kills- Mirrors g4By_cfI_1g&ob Martyn Chart: 14-10-{6}-18-18-27-31 This track everyone on here seemed to LOON over. Still as good as the first time I heard it.
December 27, 201113 yr Author Onto the Top 90 now! 90. Chris Brown Ft Justin Bieber- Next To You EEuQU6a90Pc&ob 34-{10}-10-16-18-19-26-31 I never thought I would chart Justin Bieber on my chart, let alone thought he would make my year end chart. However here he is as the featuring artist on one of many Chris Brown singles in the top 100. Beautiful People and Yeah 3x will be much later. I don't think much of this song anymore, I haven't listened to it for ages, and it isn't as good as I thought it was at all.
December 27, 201113 yr Author 89. Nicola Roberts- Beat Of My Drum n_BG3n1q5KU&ob {2}-9-11-21-26-13-36 Will Nicola be able to turn her solo fortunes around? Probably not, she will be forever a solo flop in the UK, however things could be worse. *COUGH*Nudeen*COUGH* Beat Of My Drum has an infectious chours that will be in your head all day. The best of her three solo singles so far.
December 27, 201113 yr Author 88. Minnah Karlsson- Alone 3YNrh1I-KUU 6-{4}-7-12-23-31-39-X-36 Random studio cover of Alone, by Swedish Idol 2010 runner up Minnah Karlsson. Stumbled across this some how and fell in love with it. Putting a slightly modern edge to the Heart classic. Hopfuly some original material will be released in 2012, after her self titled debut album was all her Idol covers.
December 27, 201113 yr Author 87. Eric Saade Feat Dev- Hotter Than Fire yzUOJlYy8iI 19-2-2-2-5-{1}-3-7 Depite only being on the chart for five weeks at the time the chart was complied. Having spent three weeks at number two was enough to chart in the top 100 of the year. Expect to see this feature much higher on my 2012 end of year chart. However the amazing song is let down my a shockingly poor video, which seems like it is trying to rip the energy from the song. Also I don't think driving a Vaxhall/Opel car screams sexy popstar that Eric deserves.
December 27, 201113 yr Author 86. E.M.D- What Is Love? H3zUhc8EBjo {5}-5-5-15-25 Here we have another Swedish artist cover. However this time the arangment has been completly changed from the original. Unlike the Haddaway original, boyband E.M.D have slowed it down to a ballad Westlife would be proud of. Not really sure why I love this as much as I do, still listen to it from time to time. If Westlife did it this way I would have hated it. Oh well.
January 11, 201213 yr Get on with it Martyn! Some great stuff thus far, I adored E.M.D.'s Rewind album
January 19, 201213 yr Author Now where was I? 85. Britney Spears- Hold It Against Me -Edv8Onsrgg&ob 23-16-{7}-14-36-21-14-22-39 I return with Britney's big comeback. Hold It Against Me. There were much better singles released later on from the Femme Fatale album, those will be later. Enjoy some shameless promotion of Britney related products in the video and some other random shit she got paid to include. Other than that I am sure you will actually enjoy the mini retrospective playing in the background during the chorus. Edited January 19, 201213 yr by Martyn
January 19, 201213 yr Author 84. Fefe Dobson- Stuttering cmb8_KsrNSQ&ob 9-{7}-14-20-19-18-29-35 Another song that peaked at number 7 here. Found this through watching The CW's one season wonder Hellcats (RIP!) Was going to enter it in BJSC only to found out someone had beat me to it the month before. Anyway not really sure what is going on in the video other than some terrible acting from the people in it. Not sure why this didn't receive a big push in the UK could have been a big hit I reckon. Hopefully she will be back soon with another big song like this very soon.
January 19, 201213 yr Author 83. Wonderland- Starlight WUF_Y5uV5Dk&ob 39-28-28-14-8-{3}-16-23-31 Ah Wonderland (RIP), another year another floptastic girlband. Although unlike most new girlbands who aren't The Saturdays they did manage to get to release their album, even scoring a top 10 hit with it (Unlucky Parade with their #171 hit). However many YEARS of forming and readying Wonderland for release meant by the time they were launched their sound was already old news. Of the three singles they released two of them were actually good though, the other good one is still to come, the less said about Nothing Moves Me Anymore the better though. In retrospect Starlight was probably the best song of the three they released however Not A Love Song is still to come.
January 19, 201213 yr Author 82. Rachel Stevens- Nothing In Common 7mYljQrb1PU {2}-8-13-18-16-23-28-38 I do LOVE La Stevens, so when I found the much hyped since 2005, Nothing In Common had finally leaked I had to investigate it. Quite a haunting track by Rachel's standards, although sonically is quite similar to Come and Get It, thematically I can see why it was cut in place of Some Girls reappearing. Unfortunately like Come and Get It, most people will never get to hear Nothing In Common, but it is their own fault for letting the ahead of it's time Come and Get It flop. Rachel is constantly rumoured to be releasing a third album, hopefully it is something more people will be willing to buy into this time.
January 19, 201213 yr Author 81. Kevin Borg- Unstoppable RcZd8kCl6i8 Kevin Borg- Unstoppable [34-{6}-10-11-9-12-22] Why yes parts of your chorus sound like Tinie Tempah and Kelly Rowland's song Invisible but don't worry I am sure no one will notice... Other than that, this is just a generic feel good song, sounds a bit like a reality tv winners song. Quite fitting for a Swedish Idol alumni.
January 19, 201213 yr Author 80. Danny Ft Swingfly- Never Gonna Take Us Down Lf1AzE87A1g 22-15-13-{7}-10-15-25-37 The D of E.M.D :P Danny Saucedo making the first of many solo appearances on my end of year chart. Here he is with a track from his In The Club mini-album. Like most featured raps on Danny songs the rap on Never Gonna Take Us Down is ridiculous, name check of Star Wars for no real reason. Other than the rap parts, the rest of the song makes it my favourite album track on In The Club. Very up beat and anthmic. Hopefully Danny will keep bringing songs like this when he releases his third full legnth studio album in 2012.
