Thanks Simon, pleased to see another Military Wives fan! Didn't realise that Gotye was out on Jan 1st, I guess it'll be something of a slow burner then, hopefully it gets radio support and isn't just left to do nothing. I agree with you about Reece Mastin, Little Mix really could have done with an excellent original pop song as their debut - even if I do really like their take on Cannonball. I agree about Rihanna's greatest hits too, she's going to have too many to pick from to fit them all on :o Strange that you didn't like Video Games but love Born To Die, I would have thought they'd have similar appeal :o Yeah hopefully Wild Ones and Titanium will both be big hits, Sia deserves some success here again - I know that I Love It won't ever be released here  Hot Right Now definitely has #1 written all over it doesn't it...

Many thanks for the reply. Yeah Gotye is a bit of a weird one, I am so sure that with the right support it'd be HUGE, even #1 here dare I say and 6th February release would be fine. However, on itunes its now saying 1st January which is odd, why bother taking it off itunes only to put it back on 2 months later with no support? However I just can't see Radio 1 not supporting it and I think the video is different enough for it to be get noticed. I guess we will see... (Sorry rant now over).

I really like Cannonball and LM but an original song really should have been done for them. I just hope they get the right material. I know its weird but I still can't stand Video Games, I would say its the voice but I really like Born to Die for some reason..odd. I actually think Wild Ones could challenge for #1 when released too but Hot Right now seems a rather obvious #1 next year at this point. Though I find it rather worrying how little is out in January, I ain't a clue who will be UK #1!

Merry Christmas, hope you have a good one

Ps I am enjoying your Year end chart so far

Hey Rich! Happy Christmas! :D Here are my comments this week:

1. Military Wives with Gareth Malone - Wherever You Are (1) (CR-37-1-1) So the UK Christmas number one is yours too! It is a really nice song to have as the Xmas number one of 2011!

12. J-Son feat Salem Al Fakir - Remedy (NEW) (CR-12) I've yet to hear this track, but it sounds interesting, what's it like?

13. Oh Land - Speak Out Now (NEW) (CR-13) I'm liking this a lot more now I've listened to it a couple more times! It's comfortably her second best song after Sun Of A Gun

22. Lana Del Rey - Off To The Races (NEW) (CR-22) My least favourite of the four tracks I've heard, but I'm still highly looking forward to the album!

29. DJ Fresh feat Rita Ora - Hot Right Now (NEW) (CR-29) I'm definitely peferring this track to Louder - never saw the fuss about that track.

36. Ren Harvieu - Through The Night (NEW) (CR-36) This is quite nice, almost like a cross between Lana and Rumer!

I don't understand it either, hopefully it will naturally grow and climb up the charts but radio will need to start supporting it!

I'd like to see Wild Ones do well in the UK, Flo Rida either seems to have massive top two hits or completely huge flops so I'm not sure which way it will go...I guess songs that are already around will be #1's in January and just climb to the top, maybe Coldplay or Lloyd?

Merry xmas to you too!

Thanks Ghosty, Merry Xmas to you too!

1. Yes indeed, I rarely share a xmas #1 with the UK, this is the third instance of it ever happening and probably the most unlikely one but it's genuinely been by far my favourite song around recently, even if almost everybody else hates it!

12. I really like it actually, Salem has a great chorus and Michael Jackson-esque middle 8 which is worth listening out for!

13. Pleased to hear that, I may even prefer it to Sun Of A Gun, when Oh Land is good she's very good but I wasn't won over much by her album sadly :(

22. It's so different to the other songs of hers, her vocals sound odd on it but I do really like it nonetheless!

29. I did like Louder, it got to #20 for me after a very slow climb but this is more poppy I think, sure to be another #1 for him!

36. I'd agree with that, definitely right up my street anyway!

01 - It's only happened once with me, and that was Sound Of The Underground, unsurprisingly!

12 - I can't find it anywhere to listen to, but I'll keep my eye out for it!

13 - I doubt she'll top Sun Of A Gun for me, but I agree that the album was very lacklustre :(

29 - I expect so!

1. That was my first instance of it happening! Leona was 2nd and this is third :D

12. It plays when you open this site: http://www.jsonchannel.com/blog/

13. It's a shame, it went straight over my head :( She definitely shows potential though, when she's at her most poppy!

12 - Oh wow, that's actually really good! J-Son does spoil it slightly, but the chorus is brilliant!

13 - Agreed! I much prefer the songs which are more melodic!

12. Yeah, I don't care too much about the verses although I can handle generic rap more than most but the chorus and middle eight are excellent! I want Salem's next album to be more in this poppy direction. Keep On Walking was a bit of a red herring on the last album, which was quite subtle in places.

The Military Wives song is not nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. Just the fact that it uses ordinary women to produce a good sounding song is an accomplishment. Truly amazing sales over Christmas.

STIUTK is becoming a smash on your chart! It definitely is a grower & Gotye/Kimbra compliment each other so well!

Huge jump for Lana this week. BTD has to be at least a mid-sized hit, Video Games is still lingering in the UK Top 40 after 10 wks.

Hope you enjoy the holidays!

Thanks West :D

It's a shame so many people seem to hate the Military Wives song but it's hardly typical Buzzjack fare so I expected the resistance to be honest. Indeed, I suspected that one day STIUTK would finally take off for me, and it's happening now - it really does define grower

Thanks Tom!

I agree about Gotye, hopefully it will be all over Radio 1 as well! Somehow I don't see Stronger being huge for Kelly Clarkson but it deserves to be...she hasn't released a song like that for years though. I only ever charted Don't Say Goodbye by Paulina Rubio, this is more On The Floor-esque! I think it's Alex Day's voice reminding me of Dan Gillespie-Sells' which is where I pulled The Feeling comparison from. It could feasibly be a demo from their second album imo, it's not too far removed from the likes of I Thought It Was Over musically. Agreed about Titanium and the video is pretty good - Sia's been on top form recently  I don't think Masterpiece is a single, it's from her film soundtrack. I'm guessing the Gimme All Your Lovin' official mix will be a lot better than the demo. I can't believe 4 Minutes was only 3 and a half years ago, it was absolutely MASSIVE!

No prob :)

I hope so, but I'm not overly convinced, it seems that Radio 1 is going to go more and more urban in the next year, I'm not sure a melodic pop-rock song by a guy that sounds like Sting will even make the playlist :( It definitely deserves to be, it's a fusion of her old All I Ever Wanted style and a more commercial/current sound. Oh yeah? It sounds really great. Should check it out. Oh yeah I see what you mean, in fact if you listen to the demo version of Sewn from the deluxe version of Join With Us it's basically the same thing  I haven't seen the video yet (must sort that out) but it's definitely true, and she's had her biggest international success since Taken For Granted, or perhaps ever :cheer: Yeah I think that's right, I hope it will be better but I don't know what to expect. Oh and it's apparently Luvin' Yeah I know what you mean, I don't know if she can do that again this era but I wouldn't put it past her. Speaking of 4 Minutes I was just listening to this version which doesn't add a whole bunch to the original but is nice nevertheless... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LiUIfg0JUo
