December 26, 201113 yr Author Will finish the update tomorrow as it's bed time! Anyone have sales for the bottom half- I wasn't watching??
December 26, 201113 yr I'm watching this now just tuned in, the whole show gets repeated on Channel 5 tomorrow at 7pm for anyone that has missed it. Mariah on sales of 750,000
December 26, 201113 yr Watching on 5 plus 1 so will post them if no-one else does...some random tracks on there!!Decent show though!!
December 26, 201113 yr Missing data - Spitting Image - 43,000 Nat King Cole - 46,000 Cheeky Girls - 47,000 Shaky Stevens - 50,000 Daniel O'Donnell - 52,000 Eartha Kitt - 55,000 The Carpenters - 59,000 Fat Les - 60,000 Tom Jones/Cerys Mathews - 65,000 Queen - 75,000 Coldplay - 85,000 Jane MCDonald - 100,000 Geraldine McQueen - 105,000 Elton John - 110,000 Tweenies - 112,000 Chris Rea - 115,000 Pretenders 117,000 The Smurfs - 120,000
December 26, 201113 yr Pogues on 815k up until 2010 then? Surely the million status dished out today is wrong then - adding this years data would only be over 900k??
December 26, 201113 yr I'm not sure if the Pogues have passed the million mark, somehow they don't add up
December 26, 201113 yr Author I might do a bit on this on tomorrow with what I think the mistakes are on this.
December 26, 201113 yr Might e-mail MW or the OCC to check this is important lol!! Wow Paul McCartney has made 10 million from Wonderful ChristmasTime since 1979 and its only at no26 in the sales chart!!
December 26, 201113 yr Author Missing data - Spitting Image - 43,000 Nat King Cole - 46,000 Cheeky Girls - 47,000 Shaky Stevens - 50,000 Daniel O'Donnell - 52,000 Eartha Kitt - 55,000 The Carpenters - 59,000 Fat Les - 60,000 Tom Jones/Cerys Mathews - 65,000 Queen - 75,000 Coldplay - 85,000 Jane MCDonald - 100,000 Geraldine McQueen - 105,000 Elton John - 110,000 Tweenies - 112,000 Chris Rea - 115,000 Pretenders 117,000 The Smurfs - 120,000 added- thanks! :)
December 26, 201113 yr I might do a bit on this on tomorrow with what I think the mistakes are on this. Band Aid is going to be a bit of a problem with its re-issue versions, do they add all 3 versions together.
December 26, 201113 yr Doubt Blobby will be allowed in this....not a christmas song but East 17 was allowed in!!!
December 26, 201113 yr Wow Justin from Darkness is really old looking.....maybe theyll do a slade this year? 1973 - comeback in 1982....2003....comeback in 2012?
December 26, 201113 yr They have ignored the other Band aid versions!! Strange...they should maybe add the sales together then?? Did you see them ignoring Gary Glitters hit...nearly fell off my chair laughing!! Youll find slade and wham overtaking boney m eventually...in fact in 20 years with downloads you will see alot of songs rising the chart above the novelty nonsense!!
December 26, 201113 yr They have ignored the other Band aid versions!! Looking at the list, the other versions are not in there, the big question is where are the sales, are they combined with the original or somehow vanished. Surely if OCC didn't add the other totals, the other versions would have charted lower.
December 26, 201113 yr Author Mistakes I can see ...for now... No 1- they have only bothered to list the sales for the original 1984 version with the 89 and 04 versions completely ignored. No 10- Fairytale of New York is reported as a million selling single by MW this week- here it has sales of just 815K No 12- East 17- they have the used the revised down sales for this, which wouldn’t be a problem ordinarily but.... No 13- they seem to have used the unrevised sales for this one- no consistency (thanks to Robbie for spotting this) No 17- This is almost certainly just 1980’s sales but it charted well into 1981 No 23- see No 17- they have quoted just 1984 sales with nothing for 83 No 25- This is the 90s total so EITHER this is wrong OR the track has sold virtually nothing in downloads No 29- This is the 1988 total only- charted into 1989 No 32- this assumes only 10k of sales outside of 1999- nothing for 2000? No 46- This figure seems exceptionally low for the period- perhaps only 1983 sales?
December 26, 201113 yr Author Looking at the list, the other versions are not in there, the big question is where are the sales, are they combined with the original or somehow vanished. Surely if OCC didn't add the other totals, the other versions would have charted lower. I think that Band Aid is the 80s total I'm sure- I have 3,502,000 sales for it in the 80s leaving 148,000 unaccounted for (downloads) Edited December 26, 201113 yr by Dasher76
December 26, 201113 yr The Bros song is weird as Silent Night was the b-side was it not...? Band Aid 20 should be top 5 in this chart - its sold 1.125 million?
