January 1, 201213 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles Reece Mastin spends a four week at No.1 with his debut single "Good Night", just ahead of LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know it", which is now spending it's twelfth week inside the Top 10 and the Top 3. And after two weeks at No.6, then two weeks at No.4, Lloyd's "Dedication to My Ex (Miss that)" is spending its second week at No.3. Taio Cruz and Flo Rida move up to a new peak of No.4 with their "Hangover", something which is only going to get stronger and more higher as the silly season continues, and leaping up six places are Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars with "Young, Wild and Free", which peaked at No.10 five weeks ago, and is now up to a new peak of No.5 this week. It's a fourth consecutive week at No.6 for Guy Sebastian's "Don't Worry Be Happy", and behind him, dropping three places to No.7 is Ed Sheeran and his song "The A Team". Coldplay's "Paradise" is down a place to No.8, Flo Rida's other Top 10 appearance with "Good Feeling" is back up one place to No.9, and rejoining the Top 10 at No.10 is One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful", now scoring a third non-consecutive week within the Top 10. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: David Guetta and Nicki Minaj leap up twenty-seven places to No.17 with David's new track "Turn Me On", up four places to No.18 is Timomatic's "Set it off", and the third Top 20 entry of the week is Bruno Mars with "Count on Me", up five places to No.19. Hot Chelle Rae climb a couple of spots to a new peak of No.23 with "I Like it Like That", Avicii is up four places to No.26 with his track "Levels", and leaping ten spots to No.27 is the new track for Kelly Clarkson, "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)". Matt Corby continues his climb of the charts as his new track "Into the Flame" is up to a new peak of No.31, and lower down we see Drake and Rihanna come back into the Top 50 and score a new peak of No.43 with "Take Care" (former peak was No.45). "Hey Hey Hey" by Laurent Wery feat SwiftKid and Dev jumps up twenty-four places to No.45 in its second week within the Top 100, and the last new Top 50 peak is from The Black Keys, who climb a couple of places to No.47 with "Lonely Boy". The first new entry of the week occurs at No.51, as Simple Plan and K'naan debut with "Summer Paradise". It's the third single from their recent album "Get Your Heart on" (HP-13, July 2011), following on from "Jet Lag" (HP-8, June 2011) and "Can't Keep My Hands off You" (HP-45, Oct 2011). In the lower fifty there are new peaks from GroupLove with "Tongue Tied", up ten places to No.57, and Professor Green with "Read All About it", up thirteen spots to a new peak of No.73. Pitbull and Chris Brown's "International Love" (HP-48) is back up fifteen places to No.55, and Bruno Mars is up with all of his older tracks, "Marry You" (up nine to No.64), "The Lazy Song" (up thirteen to No.66), "Just the Way You Are" (up seven to No.77) and finally "Grenade" (up ten places to No.82). There are also re-entries from LMFAO with "Sorry for Party Rocking" at No.72, and John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" is back in at No.79, its last appearance was in December of 2008 when it made it to No.66, originally it was released in December of 1972, reaching No.9 in early 1973. Flo Rida is planning on releasing his fourth album "Only One Rida Part 2" in early January of 2012, which already has had the Top 10 single "Good Feeling" (HP-4, TW-9), and the follow-up single debuts this week at No.70 entitled "Wild Ones", featuring local singer Sia. This gives Sia three guest vocal appearances in the Top 100 at the moment as she is with David Guetta on "Titanium" at No.33 and at No.22 with The Hilltop Hoods on "I Love it". YouTube sensation Alex Day enters at No.85 with the song "Forever Yours", which he is aiming to make the No.1 Christmas single in his native England. This is his third single released and first to chart here, plus he has released two albums in the past. Michael Buble scores two Christmas song entries this week, with "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" coming in at No.89, and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" at No.98. Whilst the last new entry of the week (and year) is Chiddy Bang's new track "Ray Charles" at No.100. Albums A fourth week at No.1 for Michael Buble's "Christmas" album, plus it goes from 2xPlatinum to 5xPlatinum in one week, making it now the biggest selling Christmas album in Australian Chart History, beating Mariah Carey's "Merry Christmas" (HP-2) from 1994 which has achieved 4xPlatinum in sales during the past seventeen years. Also see above for the two songs entering in the Top 100 from Michael's album. Christmas albums traditionally stop selling right after Christmas, so Michael will most likely be back for the next couple of years during December with his "Christmas" album, but moreso, who will take over from him next week, or will there be enough sales from Friday and Saturday (chart run is from Friday to Thursday) to sustain his run at the top. We will have to wait and see next week. Climbing back up to No.2 is Adele's "21", now scoring a 46th week in the Top 10, and her 39th week inside the Top 3. Adele swaps places with Reece Mastin and his debut self-titled album, which drops a place this week to No.3, but the next four albums all hold steady. Susan Boyle's "Someone to Watch Over Me" is at No.4, LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" is at No.5, Tony Bennett's "Duets II" stays at No.6 and Nickleback stop their two-places-per-week drop by staying at No.7 with "Here and Now". Bruno Mars is back for a 38th week inside the Top 10 at No.8 with his newly re-packaged album "Doo-Wops and Hooligans", and Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" climbs back up three places to No.9, spending its sixth week in the Top 10, and lastly, down two places to No.10 are Cold Chisel with "The Best of - All for You". NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Pink Floyd have been climbing week-by-week with their new Best of "A Foot in the Door", and this week it climbs up four places to No.15. Glee's latest Christmas Album, Volume 2, holds at its peak of No.24, whilst their latest album Volume 7 is two places lower at No.26. Mark Vincent's latest album "Songs from the Heart" leaps back up twenty-four places to No.29. Moving into the Top 50 from No.52 to No.36, plus scoring a new peak, is Frank Sinatra with "Sinatra: Best of the Best". Also new to the Top 50 are "The Story of My Life - Ultimate Collection" for Michael Crawford, up eighteen places to No.40, and Michael Buble's "Collection" box set is up twenty places to No.43. New album entries this week come from the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra who enter at No.59 with "A Brandenburg Christmas", and actress Zooey Deschanel's side project She & Him enter at No.91 with "A Very She & Him Christmas".
