January 1, 201213 yr Author http://australian-charts.com/forum.asp Gavin Ryan's Chartifacts (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Singles Returning for an eighth week to No.1 is LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know it”, dethroning Reece Mastin for a second time with his track “Good Night” which falls back to No.2 in it’s sixth week on the charts. Not only is “Sexy and I Know it” spending it’s half-year (26 weeks) in the chart at No.1, it has also climbed to the top of the US Billboard Top 100 chart this week after spending seven weeks behind Rihanna’s “We Found Love”, which was the opposite here in Australia, as Rihanna waited for five weeks at No.2 behind the initial six weeks LMFAO’s “Sexy…” spent at the top back in October. The following five tracks from numbers three to seven ALL hit new peaks this week. First up are Taio Cruz and Flo Rida with “Hangover”, up one spot to No.3. “Young, Wild and Free” for Snoop Dogg, Wiz Kahlifa and Bruno Mars rises one place to No.4, and Guy Sebastian’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” breaks out of its four weeks at No.6 to climb up to No.5. Coldplay’s “Paradise” is up two places to a new peak of No.6, and after re-entering the Top 10 last week, One Direction are up three places to a new chart height of No.7 with their track “What Makes You Beautiful. Flo Rida’s other Top 10 entry at the moment, “Good Feeling” rises back up one place to No.8, Ed Sheeran’s “The A Team” is down two spots to No.9, and re-entering the Top 10 at No.10 is Jason DeRulo’s “Breathing”, now claiming a third week inside the Top 10 after two weeks at No.9 a couple of weeks ago. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: Foster the People re-climb back up two places to No.12 with “Pumped up Kicks”, and also back up (again!!) is LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, up six places to No.14, as they now claim four Top 50 hits and a fifth Top 100 song, which I’ll mention later. “Set it Off” for Timomatic climbs a place to a new peak of No.17, and scoring their second Top 20 hit is Hot Chelle Rae with “I Like it Like That”, which climbs five places to No.18, whist their previous hit “Tonight Tonight” (HP-7, Oct 2011) is back up ten places to No.38. Kelly Clarkson is getting higher each week with “What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)”, as it climbs three places to No.24, and three tracks enter the Top 50 for the first time. Flo Rida and Sia leap forty-one places to No.29 with Flo’s new track “Wild Ones”, up eleven places with their tribute to Australia (check the video) are Simple Plan with “Summer Paradise”, up eleven places to No.40. And LMFAO blast up twenty-three places to No.49 with the title track from their album “Sorry for Party Rocking”. LMFAO are also in the Top 50 this week with “Champagne Showers”, back up nine places to No.45, and their long running lower-hit “Shots” jumps up eleven spots to a new peak of No.69 this week, having now spent 43 weeks in the Top 100. Mention must also go to Bruno Mars, who is featured on seven chart entries this week, and climbs in the lower 100 with the tracks “The Lazy Song” (up to No.57 from No.66), “Marry You” (up to No.58 from 64) and “Grenade” (up to No.72 from No.82). The only new entry to the charts this week comes from Foster the People who debut at No.83 with “Call it what you Want”, which becomes their third chart entry here in Australia. Previous entries were “Helena Beat” (HP-74, Feb 2011) and the current No.12 track “Pumped up Kicks” (HP-7). There are re-entries this week from Skrillex, with “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” at No.81 plus “More Monsters and Sprites” at No.97. “Get it” by Havana Brown at No.86 and “Fly” for Nicki Minaj and Rihanna at No.95. Albums Michael Buble spends a fifth (and possibly final) week at No.1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with his festive set “Christmas”, which helps bring his tally of weeks accumulated at No.1 in Australia to eighteen. He now stands at equal 25th of the list of acts with the ‘Most accumulated weeks at No.1’ alongside Bryan Adams, Herb Alpert, Slade and Boz Scaggs. It also puts Michael at equal third on the list of Canadian acts that have spent the most weeks at No.1 in Australia, behind Celine Dion’s 24 weeks and Shania Twain’s 21 weeks, he now is equal with Bryan Adams with 18 weeks. Adele is two weeks away from her albums one-year anniversary, and with Mr. Buble’s sales expected to slump next week, she could regain the No.1 spot with her album “21”, which is resting at No.2 again this week, as Reece Mastin also holds at No.3 with his self-titled debut album, keeping the top three albums stable. LMFAO’s return to the No.1 singles position, plus a new Top 50 entry this week helps push their album “Sorry for Party Rocking” back up a place to No.4, and leaping up four places to No.5 is Coldplay’s “Xylo Myloto”, helped no doubt by the current track “Paradise” reaching new heights each week. Susan Boyle’s “Someone to Watch over Me” drops two places to No.6, but up one spots to No.7 is Bruno Mars and “Doo-Wops and Hooligans”. Nickelback’s “Here and Now” is down one place to No.8, but falling three places to No.9 is Tony Bennett’s “Duets II”. Rounding out the Top 10 at No.10 is the Cold Chisel album “The Best of – All for You”. NEW PEAKS & MOVERS: There are NO new peaking albums this week, but climbing up the charts is David Guetta’s “Nothing But the Beat”, up three places to No.16. Foster the People climb six places to No.24 with “Torches”, and leaping eighteen places to No.27 is 360 with his album “Falling and Flying”. Jason DeRulo’s “Future History” is up eight places to No.30, and back up fifteen places to No.35 is Beyonce’s “4”. Katy Perry climbs eleven places to No.37 with her long running album “Teenage Dream”, whilst climbing back into the Top 50 this week are “Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits” (up from No.56 to No.42), “Own the Night” for Lady Antebellum (up from No.53 to No.43). Plus “1” from The Beatles is up thirty-one places to No.48 and Eminem’s “Recovery” jumps up twenty-three places to No.49. Lower 50: Skrillex is climbing up both the singles and album chart this week, as his album “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” leaps up forty-one places to No.58. Disturbed and their album “The Lost Children” is up fifteen places to No.60, and Rihanna’s “Loud” turns back up the charts thirty places to No.70. Pitbull’s “Planet Pit” leads the returnees to the charts this week, back in at No.64, whilst re-entering at No.74 is Drake’s “Take Care” album. Jessica Mauboy returns to No.80 with “Get ‘em Girls”, Bad Meets Evil come back in at No.71 with “Hell: The Sequel”, Nicki Minaj returns at No,84 with her “Pink Friday” album, plus there are returns from The Wombats (No.92), INXS (No.94), the “Burlesque” soundtrack (No.95), Evanescence (No.97) and lastly Kasabian with “Velociraptor!” at No.98.
